  • Mind Over Matter (Special Episode)

On 8/13/2022, hundreds of students from over 20 HBCU's across the country had the opportunity to experience the first iteration of a mental health tour I was fortunate enough to create called Mind Over Matter during Amazon's HBCU conference, Beyond the Yard. Now the tour is beginning to make its rounds to college campuses around the country and I could not be more excited.

This tour was created to bridge the gap in accessing mental health resources for Black students and to make mental health easy to understand and manage. Three therapists, Shanta Jackson, Jason Phillips and Monroe Howard Shackelford have agreed to work with us and they will be addressing anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome and so much more. These providers were also selected because of their strong social media presence, offering students platforms and people to follow beyond their day to day influencers so they have direct access to life-improving content.

If you know of a student who can benefit from attending this event at Florida A&M University next Tuesday, 9/20/22, please email me at [email protected] and I am happy to help them register for this event. Attendees must be currently enrolled students at the university.

I love you all so much and thank you for being a part of this community.

    Tiffany

Keisha shares a little bit about her dynamic with her siblings and her parents as well as the reaction from her parents. • 16 and Pregnant

As we prepare to close out Season 2 of the podcast, Tiffany is joined by a special guest, Keisha Prudent, to tell the story of being 16 and pregnant in high school. This story is near and dear to Tiffany's heart because this situation changed her life forever and while things have worked out over the years, success didn't come without a lot of hard work, dedication, sacrifice and even extreme lows.

In the first part of this story told in this episode, Tiffany and Keisha talk about the power of peer influences and who they ended up in relationships with men who were much older than they were. They provide tips for parents raising teenagers now and even talk about the unintended consequences that often come from the decisions we make in life.

We hope you find this episode helpful and as always, feel free to share your thoughts by emailing [email protected]. Don't be afraid to share this episode with a friend/family member and be sure to connect with Tiffany on social media via @Tiffan_e_speaks on TikTok and Instagram.

    Love and Light,

  • Healing, In Spite Of...

In this heartfelt conversation between Tiffany and Lo, the ladies come together to talk about Season 2 and provide an update on why it's been so long since they were able to record together.

Season 2 of the podcast was created to tell a little bit of Tiffany's story and to shed light on some of the traumatic situations she experienced earlier in life that led to problematic thought processes and ways of being. Through telling these stories, Tiffany hoped to illustrate how easy it can be to want to give up, stop believing in people and become the person you were not created to be but she, instead, tells a story of choosing to heal in spite of. That's what this season ended up teaching everyone.

The ladies also talk about how all the healing work they've done over the last year prepared Lo for her second experience with cancer and Tiffany for her new growth and the opportunities before her. It's an emotional conversation but it wasn't edited because real healing takes place during the real conversations.

After you finish listening to the episode, please take a moment and pray for both of the ladies and also reflect on what's been shared. It's encouraged that you also take a moment to journal about your thoughts.

Although Season 2 is wrapping, the ladies may be recording some special episodes over the next few months to keep the family close as everyone is growing into new seasons. In the interim, keep learning, loving, laughing, dancing, feeling, talking, growing, changing and most importantly- HEALING.

  • Step Parents (Corrected Video for Spotify)

    Hey there Heal Sh* family!

This week's episode is the third installment on our parenting series and this week, we take a multigenerational look at step parents. To help you see this conversation from different perspectives, we explore what having a step parent is like for children conversation and discuss the different feelings and emotions children experience and then we take another look at the situation from the lens of a step parent and what they may be experiencing. As a support for these statements, Tiffany leverages her experiences both as a child and then as an adult who remarried and raised her own children with their step father.

We recognize this episode may be triggering for some.

The point of this conversation is to start a healthy dialogue around everyone's feelings and encourage you to begin doing the work to mend the challenges we face as people navigating blended relationships.
