In This episode of Health and Biohacking podcast  we discuss red light therapy, this increasingly popular topic, explaining its potential to optimize health, extend longevity, and improve quality of life. 

I described how Red Light Therapy works by exposing the skin to low wavelengths of red or near-infrared light, which penetrate the skin and stimulate cellular repair and energy production. Originally researched by NASA in the 1990s for wound healing in space, RLT has since been studied for various health benefits, including improved collagen production and wrinkle reduction.

I delved into the science behind RLT, discussing how it stimulates mitochondria to enhance ATP production, which is crucial for cellular energy. I cited Dr. Michael Hamblin's research on how RLT modulates oxidative stress, reducing inflammation and accelerating healing. A 2017 meta-analysis was mentioned, showing RLT's effectiveness in reducing muscle fatigue and soreness after exercise. I highlighted the diverse applications of RLT, including skin health, muscle recovery, pain relief, hair growth stimulation, and sleep improvement, noting its use in infrared saunas, gym beds, and handheld devices.

In the episode, I shared safety tips and usage guidelines, recommending starting with 10 to 15-minute sessions, two to three times a week, and avoiding direct eye contact with the light. I emphasized the importance of consulting healthcare providers for those with medical conditions and mentioned that RLT is generally safe with appropriate dosing. I also shared my personal experience with RLT, describing it as a staple in my routine for muscle recovery. This shift in strategy, combined with his unwavering faith and competitive spirit, led to his remarkable recovery. Georges has now been cancer-free for 12 years.

Georges' experience transformed his life's purpose. He transitioned from a successful career in technology to become a holistic health coach, focusing on helping others prevent and overcome chronic diseases. His approach emphasizes the importance of addressing the four aspects of holistic health: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. In this inaugural episode of "Health and Biohacking," I share my personal journey that led to the creation of this podcast. With a background in listening to podcasts since 2012 and experience hosting "Hindsight Hacking," and managing other podcasts since 2019 I've now turned my focus to health and wellness. I candidly discuss my struggles with weight, yo-yo dieting, and the all-or-nothing mindset that hindered my progress for years.

My health transformation began in September 2023 after a back injury. This setback became a catalyst for change, starting with a commitment to walking 10,000 steps daily. This small goal snowballed into bigger changes, including going to the gym for workouts and exploring various biohacking techniques. I became immersed in health podcasts and started implementing lifestyle changes one habit at a time. A significant breakthrough came in January 2024 when you decided to give up drinking, which led to a rapid 40-pound weight loss over four months.

The purpose of your "Health and Biohacking" podcast is twofold. First, I aim to share my personal experiences and insights, emphasizing that small, consistent habits can lead to significant changes. I want to inspire listeners that they don't need to adopt an all-or-nothing approach to see results. Second, recognizing that I'm not a trained expert, I plan to bring in professionals from various health and wellness fields to provide informed advice. My goal is to create a supportive community around the podcast, sharing valuable information on health, wellness, and biohacking.

• I lost a total of 60 pounds between September 2023 and May 2024, with the most significant weight loss occurring after I reduced alcohol consumption.
• I equate drinking alcohol to consuming sugar, and now make conscious choices between the two when considering indulgences.
• My podcast aims to demonstrate that even simple actions like doing a 30-second plank or taking a 10-minute walk after lunch can be the first step towards significant health improvements.
