I am sure in the past week you have either asked someone this question or have been asked the same question.
I often have to pause for a moment before I respond to this question. This is a national holiday unlike most other holidays.
Often times, people present their excuses as barriers to eating healthy. But there is a HUGE difference between barriers and excuses.
This question comes in many forms including:
What is your cheat food?
How do you satisfy the urge to eat sugar?
When do you take a break from eating healthy and clean? How often?
How do you have the willpower to always say no?
But a few days ago, I heard this version: what is your guilty pleasure?? To be honest, I had not heard this exact question at least not that I recall.
There is no better time like now to ask this question. What fight am I talking about? I am talking about the most important fight of your life. The fight you CAN and should prepare for.
I am asking this because more than 50% of adults in the United States set a new year’s resolutions but VERY few actually keep them and most of them don’t last beyond February 15th. So why talk about this in late April? Because ironically, right around Spring time, the same percentage of adults, if not more, start thinking about getting fit, eating healthy and exercise because, well summer is just around the corner and they want to look good in a bathing suit.
Is there a magic pill?
I started this podcast a little less than a year ago. The description of this podcast starts with this statement.
There are no special ingredients, no magic pills, no miracle diets, & no Rocky style training drills to your true health & well being. If you are looking for NO nonsense, honest, & real life skills that will motivate you to be the best version of YOU, I am here for you. If you are looking for excuses, look elsewhere because excuses are ONLY obstacles you build to set you up for failure.
Is there a link between sugar, sugary drinks and cancer? This is a great question and a very important topic. But more importantly, I received inspiration from a cancer patient this morning. You NEED TO HEAR THIS.
Last week, I talked about cheating and how often I get the question about when can I have a cheat food or a cheat meal. Someone posted this in response to that episode:
“Calling it a cheat immediately brings/ implies guilt. NOT and emotion you want associated with food!”
Excellent point and THANK YOU for this inspiration, I have literally been waiting to talk about this all week.
