Hearing God’s Voice More Clearly, Even in the Silence: Words With God with Special Guest Addison Bevere
For Good Friday, we have my friend Addison Bevere on the show to talk about a struggle we can all relate to. Separating the voice of the accuser from the voice of God, or even our own voice can sometimes be difficult. Addison shares from his new book, Words With God, about this very issue and offers some practical and heart felt insight on how to hear God’s voice more clearly.
**Addison Bevere is COO of Messenger International (founded by John & Lisa Bevere), a cofounder of SonsAndDaughters.tv and a bestselling author. His new book, Words with God: Trading Boring, Empty Prayer for Real Connection (April 18, 2023) recasts prayer as an intimate and necessary part of the human experience.

Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast.
Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God’s voice or if it’s really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life?
Hey, I’m your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God’s voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn’t quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn’t qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do.
The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God’s word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life.
Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His.
The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open.
Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer.

Regardless of the reasons we may find ourselves there, chaos can happen in our lives. If you find yourself there, today’s episode will encourage you. Together we look at four reasons you may be experiencing chaos in your life and what you can do about it.
Thoughts to Journal:
In times of chaos, what is your response? Have there been times you have been reluctant to call out to God? Why do you think that is? Are you resisting that now? Allow Him into that space so He can transform your chaos into calm.
Today’s Key Verse:
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress. Psalm 107:28

God’s Plan is Better Than Our Plan: How God Shows Us His Faithfulness in Psalm 106
So many of us tend to choose our own way in life instead of God’s way. While He may allow us to follow our own path, we have to realize there are consequences for the choices we make. Today we look at the example of Israel’s choices in Psalm 106, and how God remains faithful because of His great love.
Thoughts to Journal:
In what ways have you turned away from God’s plan for your life? Have there been things you know He has called you to do that you exchanged for your own plan? How is He calling you back to Himself today?
Today’s Key Verse:
But He took note of their distress when He heard their cry; for their sake He remembered His Covenant and out of His great love He relented. Psalm 106:44-45

Remembering God’s Faithfulness is an Action, Not Just A Thought: How Psalm 105 Helps Us To Have Faith In Hard Seasons
It can sometimes be difficult to have faith when we feel that God is silent. Psalm 105 reminds us to look back at the ways God has been faithful to us throughout our lives. That act of remembering can be the catalyst to having the faith we need to move forward.
Thoughts to Journal:
Spend some time today making a list of the ways God has been faithful to you throughout your life. How does this act of remembering change your perspective for your future?
Today’s Key Verse:
Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Psalm 105:1

God Reveals His Love and Care for Us as His Creation: A Meditation on the Creation in Psalm 104
Psalm 104 is a beautiful meditation on the Creation story, but from the perspective of after the fall. As we look to the parallels, we can be encouraged that we have a Creator who loves us as His creation.
Thoughts to Journal:
Did you recognize the similarities in both creation stories? Have you ever thought about yourself as God’s creation? As the creator of the universe looks upon you, He responds with love for you. Take some time to meditate on what it means for you to be a creation loved by the creator.
Today’s Key Verse:
I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Psalm 104:33

God Loves Because of Who He Is, Not Because of What You Do: How Psalm 103 Reminds Us of God’s Eternal Love for Us
Even though we don’t deserve it, we serve a God whose compassion and love for us will never fade. Today we look at the ways Psalm 103 showcases God’s love for us. Our response to God’s love should always be praise.
Thoughts to Journal:
What emotions go through your heart and mind when you think of God’s love for you? How is your soul responding to this concept of love based on who God is, not what you have done?
Today’s Key Verse:
The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. Psalm 103:8

What is Your Hope Based On? How Psalm 102 Reveals the Source of Our Hope
We all have hard seasons when we need some hope to hold onto. So many of us are holding onto false hope though. Today we walk through a lament psalm that points us to hope in the one who holds our hearts. I pray this episode blesses you.
Thoughts to Journal:
When you are going through a hard season, if you are honest, what is the hope that you cling to? Is that different than what the psalm points to as the source of our hope? How is hope in God different than the false hope we tend to have?
Today’s Key Verse:
But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. Psalm 102:12

In this six-week study from the Book of John, Rachael Groll takes you on an in-depth exploration into the lives of six women Jesus knew. Women often deal with feelings of insecurity and unworthiness, yet the lives of these women show that Jesus values us, wants a relationship with us, and can use us to further His kingdom. In her warm, conversational style, Rachael ties together her life experience, knowledge of the Scriptures, and her compassion for women to encourage us and enable us to become the women God has called us to be.
