Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast.
Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God’s voice or if it’s really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life?
Hey, I’m your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God’s voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn’t quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn’t qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do.
The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God’s word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life.
Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His.
The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open.
Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer.

God Made Us and We Are His: How Psalm 100 Sums Up the Gospel Message to Give Us Joy
The beauty of the salvation message is that God makes it available for all people for all time. Today we look at Psalm 100 and the beautiful salvation message that produces in us hope and joy. I pray this episode blesses you.
Thoughts to Journal:
How does it make you feel to know that God made you and that you are His? Let that truth sink in for a bit and allow yourself to think of God as not just a father, but as a good father. Take some time to respond to Him in this moment.
Today’s Key Verse:
Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His. Psalm 100:3a

Listening in Prayer: How Psalm 99 Showcases God’s Answers to Prayer When We Take the Time to Listen
Sometimes we are quick to pray but slow to listen. Today we look at the examples of Moses, Aaron, and Samuel who not only listened to God, but were obedient in what He told them to do. I pray this episode blesses you.
Thoughts to Journal:
When you pray, do you take the time to actually listen? God longs for your prayer time to be a conversation, not one sided. Take some time right now to go to Him in prayer, and practice the act of listening for a little bit. Write down anything He shares with you.
Today’s Key Verse:
They called on the Lord and He answered them. Psalm 99:6b

Thoughts to Journal:

Loving What God Loves and Hating What God Hates: Reflections from Psalm 97
Growing in our relationship with the Lord allows God’s glory to shine in our lives. When that light is present, it exposes the sin of the world around us and sometimes even in our own lives. Today we talk about that concept and what it looks like to love what God loves and hate what God hates.
Thoughts to Journal:
Are there things in your life that God hates but you hesitate to deal with them? Maybe it’s sin in your own life. Maybe it’s tolerating the sin of others when you know you should speak out. Spend some time today thinking about what it practically means to love what God loves and hate what God hates and list some of those things out.
Today’s Key Verse:
Let those that love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 97:10

How Praise Motivates Us to Share God’s Love With Others: Reflections from Psalm 96
As we celebrate God’s goodness in our lives, we can use those moments as an opportunity to share what God is doing with those around us. Our praise and testimony can be the very things God uses to draw others close.
Thoughts to Journal:
When was the last time you shared what God is doing in your life with someone that is not a believer? Pray and ask God to show you someone that you can share that message with. Perhaps write out a prayer for them right now.
Today’s Key Verse:
Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Psalm 96:2

Why You May Not Be Hearing God’s Voice: Reflections from Psalm 95
In today’s psalm, we are reminded of the generation of people that wandered around in the wilderness. Their disobedience teaches us something powerful if we pay attention. I pray this episode gives you clarity as you learn to hear God’s voice more clearly.
Thoughts to Journal:
Is there a possibility that your heart has become hardened towards God in some areas? Are there areas of ignored sin in your life that may have led to that? Be honest and real with this, and then invite God into that space as you confess that to Him.
Today’s Key Verse:
Today if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart as you did. Psalm 95:8a

Seeing God’s Discipline as His Love for Us: Reflections from Psalm 94
There are two sides to God’s sovereignty, His discipline and His blessing. Sometimes we forget in moments of discipline or judgement, that He is operating in love for us. Today we unpack that concept a little bit and think through what that means in our lives. I pray this episode blesses you.
Thoughts to Journal:
How do you respond when God disciplines you or convicts you in your life? Does thinking of God as a father help you process those times? Today spend some time thinking about God’s deep love for you and how His discipline shows that He cares for you.

But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge. Psalm 94:22

Recognizing God As Sovereign in Our Past, Our Present, and Our Future : Reflections from Psalm 93
For many of us, it is easy to praise God as sovereign in our lives when it comes to the present or even the future as we trust Him. But for some of us, it’s more difficult to recognize God’s sovereignty over our past. Today we explore this topic and more, I pray it blesses you.
Thoughts to Journal:
Do you find it difficult to recognize God as sovereign in any of these seasons of your life? Past, present, or future? Why is that? As you sit with this today, spend some time reflecting on God’s sovereignty in your life and journal through any thoughts that are keeping you from admitting this fully.
Today’s Key Verse:
Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity. Psalm 93:2
In this six-week study from the Book of John, Rachael Groll takes you on an in-depth exploration into the lives of six women Jesus knew. Women often deal with feelings of insecurity and unworthiness, yet the lives of these women show that Jesus values us, wants a relationship with us, and can use us to further His kingdom. In her warm, conversational style, Rachael ties together her life experience, knowledge of the Scriptures, and her compassion for women to encourage us and enable us to become the women God has called us to be.
