Wallowing in Self-Pity? Struggling With Envy? How Psalm 73 Shows Us How to Deal With Our Envious Attitudes
We have all had times in our lives where we have looked at the prosperity of others and felt like it was unjustified because of how evil they were. Celebrity culture is a prime example. Did you know that those problems are not new? Psalm 73 shows us that this is a heart issue that has been around awhile. How do we deal with it when believers seem to struggle but evil people seem to have things handed to them?
Today’s Key Verse:
Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire beside you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26
Hey friends, welcome to the Hearing Jesus Podcast.
Do you sometimes doubt if you are truly hearing God’s voice or if it’s really your own? Do you wonder how you can know the difference? Do you struggle to feel confident in your relationship with God and what He says in his word? Do you sometimes feel stagnant or like you hit a wall in your spiritual life?
Hey, I’m your host, Rachael Groll: missionary, author, pastor, and life coach. And I have been there. I, too, was doubting God’s voice in my own life. I, too, felt insecure about the things I thought God might be calling me to do. I wanted to make a difference in the world and be obedient to what God was calling me to do, but I wasn’t quite sure how to figure out what exactly that was. I kept telling myself that I was wasting time trying to figure it out or waiting for Him to show me. Or that I wasn’t qualified to do the things I thought He might be telling me to do.
The answer for me was found in the pages of the Bible, as I learned how to understand what it was actually saying. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to step confidently into the calling God has for you, then join me as we dig deep into God’s word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life.
Friend, you are loved, you are cherished, and you are His.
The Hearing Jesus Podcast will encourage and equip you to step into the calling God has for your life, living out your faith in the everyday. Together we will break down walls that keep us from growing spiritually. We will dig deep into our Bibles to understand and connect the Scriptures to our lives. We will boldly obey what God calls us to do, walking through doors that only He can open.
Join me for your daily dose of faith, honesty, and prayer.

The Heart of the King Seeks After All People- Even the Ones We May Overlook- Reflections from Psalm 72
Throughout the Scriptures we see God’s heart for the needy, the broken, the hurting. Yet how do we reflect that in our own lives? Today we look at a prayer of Solomon that reminds us that the king and the kingdom prioritizes helping those that need the hope of the gospel. Is there someone in your life God is calling you to share that hope with?
Today’s Key Verse:
For He will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. Psalm 72:12

When Others Don’t Understand Your Zeal: Reflections from Psalm 69
Sometimes people will not understand our passion and zeal for God. Sometimes it will even be people that “should” get it. It’s ok. Keep going. Keep growing. Keep following God’s path for your life. As much as it may anger or insult us, it’s not lost on God and He will deal with it in His timing. We have to take our eyes off of them and focus back on Him.
Today’s Key Verse:
I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. Psalm 69:30

God’s Heart Revealed: How Psalm 68 Shows Us the Compassion of God and How We Should Respond
Psalm 68 is sometimes called a difficult Psalm, but inside we see some of the most clear examples of what burdens God’s heart. As we study this Psalm today, my prayer is that you will recognize your own calling to care about the things God cares about: the marginalized of society, the widows, the orphan, the prisoners. We serve a God who delights in caring for those that others overlook.
Today’s Key Verse:
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing. Psalm 68:5-6a

The Great Commission in the Old Testament? How Psalm 67 Calls Us to Share Our Faith With Those Around Us
While many of us are familiar with the call to share the gospel that is found in the New Testament, sometimes we overlook a similar call that we see in the Psalms. Today we look at God’s heart for the nations and what part we should play in sharing the hope of the gospel with those around us.
Today’s Key Verse:
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on the earth, your salvation among all nations. Psalm 67:1-2

When Words Are Weapons: How God Defends Us When the Enemy Attacks: Psalm 64
Words can be weapons that do some pretty bad damage in our lives. Psalm 64 reveals the way that God gets involved in our lives and defends us. We don’t have a God that sits by, watching us get attacked. Instead, we have a God who intervenes on our behalf. I pray this episode blesses you.

In this six-week study from the Book of John, Rachael Groll takes you on an in-depth exploration into the lives of six women Jesus knew. Women often deal with feelings of insecurity and unworthiness, yet the lives of these women show that Jesus values us, wants a relationship with us, and can use us to further His kingdom. In her warm, conversational style, Rachael ties together her life experience, knowledge of the Scriptures, and her compassion for women to encourage us and enable us to become the women God has called us to be.
