Hearing Jesus: Daily Bible Study, Daily Devotional, Prayer, Hearing God & Christian Affirmations

Saturday Contemplative: Standing Firm

Scripture: Ephesians 6:10–18

In this episode, we reflect on the armor of God and what it means to stand firm in the strength of the Lord. Resurrection life is not lived in our own effort. God equips us for the battles we face and gives us what we need to remain steady.

This contemplative prayer episode is a reminder that perseverance is not about trying harder. It is about trusting that God is with us, protecting us, and strengthening us. As we meditate on each piece of the armor, we remember that we are not facing spiritual resistance alone.

If you are tired, under pressure, or feeling attacked, this episode will help you return to the strength of God and stand in His peace.

In this episode, we reflect on:

the armor of God in everyday spiritual life

standing firm in God’s strength instead of our own

trusting His protection in difficult seasons

Psalms for the Soul: Psalm 90: Daily Bible Study, Daily Devotional, Hearing Jesus

Today we are studying the only Psalm that is attributed to Moses. As we look at this prayer, it reveals to us the ways we are called to invest in the future kingdom as we live our short lives here on earth. I pray this episode challenges and encourages you to live for eternity.

Today’s Key Verse:

May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands. Psalm 90:17

Psalms for the Soul: Psalm 89: Daily Bible Study, Daily Devotional, Hearing Jesus

Waiting on God is never easy, especially when our circumstances seem to be the opposite of what God promised. In today’s episode we are looking at that exact scenario as David’s reign comes to an end in Israel. We can learn so much from this psalm that God is working, even when we can’t see Him. Jesus is the proof of God’s faithfulness.

Today’s Key Verse:

Psalms for the Soul: Psalm 88: Daily Bible Study, Daily Devotional, Hearing Jesus

Sometimes life can get us to a place where thoughts of depression, anxiety, and even suicide can make us feel like darkness may be our only friend. The enemy would have you believe that, and we see in the psalms that even the psalmists struggled with similar emotions. As we learn to lean into what we know instead of what we feel, we can have hope in the God who saves. I pray this episode blesses you, even in the moments where darkness feels like a friend.

Today’s Key Verse:

O Lord, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you. May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. Psalm 88:1-2

Psalms for the Soul: Psalm 86: Daily Bible Study, Daily Devotional, Hearing Jesus

It is a natural human emotion to have fear. And while I certainly believe fear is not from God, we will all have to deal with fear this side of heaven. Today we are looking at the example of King David when he too was facing something difficult and the way he allowed his faith to speak louder than his fear. Being afraid doesn’t disqualify you from your faith, and sometimes, faith and fear can even work together.

Today’s Key Verse:

But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15
