Today's replay is from the Pillar Deployment Retreat in 2020.  I had the opportunity to speak on the Power of Relationships during your deployment season.  Here is what I discuss:

 - There are 3 relationships you need to be intentional about. #1 Your relationship with yourself. #2 Your marriage relationship. #3 Your relationship with everyone else.

- How you handle each relationship will either positively or negatively impact your deployment season.

- #1 Your relationship with self: You have power of choice.  Use it to take care of you mental, physical and emotional needs.

- #2 Your marriage relationship: Deployments are a great opportunity to build on your relationship by thinking outside the box, using effective communication and bringing new intentionality to how you care for one another.

- #3 Your relationship with everyone else: Be cautious of how much power are you giving others in this season. 

- The CARE Method for your deployment season: 

Carefully Consider if the relationship is charging you up or depleting your energy

Asses the Foundation as to if the relationship is mutually beneficial

Reinforce the Structure by either building the relationship or creating a boundary for it

Engage + Trust the help that is offered to you and listen to yourself

This past weekend we celebrated Juneteenth and it’s inaugural year as a federal holiday.  As the 2020-2921 Armed Forces Insurance Air Force Spouse of the Year, I’ve hosted the Military Family Town Hall on race & the military family for two consecutive years.  In 2020 this forum was hosted due to the racial tension that peaked at the murder of George Floyd.  Today , a year later, you will hear a segment from the 2021 town hall with perspectives from my family.  Joining my is my husband, Capt Donovan Carroll and my brother-in-law, Lt Col Kendrick Carroll.

Today we honor our service members that made the ultimate sacrifice.  On this Memorial Day, we are thrilled to share the story of one Gold Star spouse, Krista Simpson Anderson.  She graciously shared her story during the 2020 Military Marriage Day virtual celebration.  

Krista Simpson Anderson is the wife of active duty Green Beret MSG Gus Anderson and the Gold Star spouse of Green Beret SSG Michael H. Simpson who passed away on 1 May 2013 from wounds sustained in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Eastern Afghanistan. She is the mother of two boys, Michael and Gabriel. Krista co-founded The Unquiet Professional in 2013, providing healthy and empowering opportunities to Gold Star and Surviving families, Veterans and their families. She is the Gold Star Liaison for the Green Beret Foundation, is a member of the speakers board for Folds of Honor, sits on the board for Gold Star Sailing
