And certain men came down from Judah and were teaching the brothers, "Unless you are circumcised, according to the practice of Moses, you are unable to be saved." Acts 15:1

Is that what this argument really is about: that you must be circumcised to be saved? Many in the traditional Christian church have misunderstood this passage and incorrectly concluded that what the Pharisees in Acts 15 were arguing was this: that one must follow the law (the torah) in order to be saved. This is not the debate, the argument, or the question on the table.

What is the real question being addressed? The real question is this: What has greater torah weight: circumcision of the flesh? Or circumcision of the heart?

For Christ/Yeshua is the end of the Torah for righteousness to every one that believes. Romans 10:4

All of the Torah is written of Yeshua. Yeshua came as the Word, the Torah, and the Word was made flesh and came and dwelt among us.

Then He (Yeshua) said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. Luke 24:25-27

Yeshua is the aim, the purpose and the goal of Torah. All of Torah points to HIM. We have all transgressed the Torah, the Law. The word tells us:

There is none righteous, no not one. Romans 3:10

We have a sin problem. Yeshua is the solution to that problem. By repenting of our sin and trusting in Him, He gives us a new heart, a heart of flesh, and begins writing the Torah upon our heart (Jer. 31:31-33) so that now we can follow the Torah through the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh).

Let’s summarize:

*Yeshua gave the Torah at Mt Sinai

*The Torah is written about Yeshua

*Yeshua is the goal of the Torah

*The will of the God of Israel to have the Torah be written upon our heart

*The New covenant is the Torah is written upon our heart (Jer. 31:31-33)

*We show our love for Yeshua by following His Torah

*We are to follow the Torah of Yeshua by the Holy Spirit

*A circumcised heart follows the Torah of Yeshua by the Holy Spirit

*Loving your neighbor as yourself is following the Torah

*Love serves others, love gives to others, love lays down its life for others

*Love is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit

*Walking in love toward Yahweh and toward one another is the highest fulfillment of Torah

Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 1 John 2: 3,6

As we continue our journey into walking in the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith, we are to walk as Yeshua walked, and do as He did. Yeshua kept the Sabbath. So should we. Yeshua kept the biblical Feasts, including Passover and Sukkot. So should we. Yeshua IS our Sabbath rest. He is our resting place. When we abide in Him, we will be filled with His shalom, His peace, and His rest.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30

Yeshua is the Passover lamb. During the Passover meal that he kept with the disciples He was prophetically fulfilling the Passover message in laying down His life as the “lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Yeshua kept the biblical feasts and instructed His disciples and the early church believers to do so as well. We see early church believers keeping another biblical festival, Shavuot, or Feast of Weeks, also known as Pentecost. It was during this time of their gathering together to keep this Feast that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit happened (Acts 2:1-21)

To follow the Hebraic roots of Christianity means:

*to believe in Yeshua as messiah

*to follow Him and walk as He walked (1 John 3:3, 6)

*Yeshua followed the Torah and kept the Sabbath and the biblical feasts

*the early church believers followed the Torah and kept the Sabbath and the biblical feasts.

*non-Jews who join themselves to the God of Israel are commanded to keep the annual biblical feasts.

*Sin is the transgression of the Torah. Repentance from sin means that we stop transgressing the Torah and start FOLLOWING the Torah by the Spirit.

*The name of Yeshua’s covenant family is the House of Jacob.

*There will be no more exile to the nations during the Messianic age.

*At His second coming, Yeshua will gather and unite all 12 tribes and bring them back to Israel.
