STRAP. INNNNN
This past week, a woman took issue with me advertising an £11 masterclass (which by the way, will be worth 100 times the value)... and it got me thinking about WHY we don't like women who talk about money.
If you loved this, you'll love being inside my world.

This is a special episode because it's an in-depth conversation with my brilliant client and friend Rowena Wilding.
Marketing expert and mum-of-three, Rowena is paving the way for other women in business.
She is super passionate about re-investing into other small, women-run businesses that do good stuff in the world.
We started working together around a year ago and in this episode, Rowena gives a candid account of what that journey has been like.
If your marketing is feeling overwhelming, if you need support for a marketing or copywriting project, if you’ve got a book you need writing, or if you’re looking for specialist marketing expertise and leadership, Rowena can make it simple.
In this episode, we discuss:

The data doesn't lie! 'Corporate chic' is making a comeback.
Spotted on the runways at Bottega and Alexander McQueen et al, attire you might associate with being in the office has become high fashion. And on my scouts around the shops & in my own research, we're seeing more blazers, tailoring and an incorporation of the workwear aesthetic into Gen Z style...
So... Why?
This is a conversation about culture, privilege and post-pandemic working lives. Does our new (or rekindled) desire for 'corporate chic' speak to a desire to get back to the office? What do you think?
If your wardrobe needs an update to match your skills and help you bag a promotion, join Workify. Updated for 2024, this is the 14-day experience designed to take you no more than 20 minutes a day, and by the end you'll have a wardrobe as qualified as you are for that pay rise.

“The work environment is ruining my style. I know I feel much better and productive when I dress well, but everyone’s in tracksuits and on the calls in pyjamas so I feel like I have to dress like that.”
Does this sound like you?

You're really good at what you do, have top-class ideas and know you could do a killer job in leadership… if only your boss' boss could see you
02
You've felt your style decline over the last few years and when everyone else around you is wearing hoodies and dressing gowns, you feel you've had to follow suit… but it's made you feel a bit like a rotten potato
03
You've got into some bad style habits (top-dressing, camera-off) that you know are low-key sabotaging your chance of a promotion
04
You look at peers in your industry and think ‘how come [they] are speaking on panels and on podcasts? When will that be me?’
05

‘What to wear’ is an area of work you've never had any support. As a result you feel confused about dresscodes, spend way too much time working out what to wear for ikn-person meetings and panic when you get invited to industry events

In this episode, let's go back to basics.
If the foundations aren't solid in either wardrobe or business... how are we getting to the next level?
This episode was inspired by a conversation with a client who was sharing her frustration at not being where she perceives she 'should' be in business. I reminder her that having the foundations solid AF is where her focus needs to be, rather than looking around on the internet at what everyone else is doing and speaking to things in her content she has not yet embodied as a business owner.
Got you fired up? If you're ready to get your basics nailed, come join us this September for Own the Room and mid-October for That's Not A Business.

I have NEVER heard an actual self-made seriously wealthy woman...
Say that style doesn't matter.
I've only ever heard it from:
🤐 People with 1000s of followers who don't make any money but say things for controversy and benefit from a sh*t load of privilege they refuse to acknowledge.
and
🤐 People who don't make money because their ego is getting in the way of them taking the actions that make money
The women I know making serious bank...
➡️ Have personal stylists.
➡️ They work with personal stylists.
➡️ They invest in their wardrobes as a business tool.
❌️ They aren't on the Internet scoffing at people who do.
❌️ They aren't using their lack of style as an excuse not to get stuff like branded photos.
They're refusing to normalise the 'what to wear' struggle because they see it for what it is -
A clever manipulation by patriarchy so that women will spend time and money on sh&t that doesn't matter instead of the stuff that does.
The sooner you realise your wardrobe IS money mindset manifested in clothes...
the sooner you'll start making some.
Style secrets of seriously wealthy women:
1 - they don't wear old pants...
If £10m them isn't going to wear it, nor are they. They be her NOW.
2 - they understand it's a business essential
'Nice to have' about things that make them money, build their brands and cement their legacy is unacceptable to them.
They have huge fish to fry. They want money and power not so they can humblebrag but because they're sick of this sh*t and they want to make positive changes in the world.
Inequality is rife, systematic problems persist to keep certain people down and others up... and they find it completely unacceptable. They utilise the tools they have available to them [including their wardrobe] to progress in business, make more money, get more influence and change the world
3 - they're willing to park their ego and do the work
In all my years as a woman in leadership running multi-million pound publications with big teams and now as a style coach to women in business, I have NEVER heard a real one say 'style doesn't matter.'
They understand the opposite.
Go read We Should All Be Millionnaires by Rachel Rodgers and look at how she talks about elevating your style to match where you want your wealth to go.
If you're THIS ☝️ kind of woman...
I'm the style coach for you.
Doesn't matter where you are in your business journey.
What matters is the MINDSET.
Right now you can enrol in Own the Room - the essential styling course for female founders scaling to £5k months who've been in corporate for a number of years and now have to learn to be *the face*of a brand when no one EVER had a style conversation with them that was anything other than boring and surface level 🥱

This time last year, my business was barely making enough to get by.
I went on a beach holiday last week and made £4k sales.
Here's the full breakdown of getting from there to here:
➡️ In Spring 2023, my business crashed after I became unwell.
At that point I wasn't only physically ill, I realised I was pretty broke and burned out...
And I clearly had no contingency when sh*t hit the fan.
I decided I could either give up... or go all in.
Reflecting last week on my holiday about the steps I took, I came up with six key components I'd love to share with you.
Because the £4k sales are the result of strategic work in wardrobe, mindset, business and life.
There's so much ‘success’ chat on social media, which makes it look like things just happened for that person you keep comparing yourself to.
And the truth is either 1 of 2 things:
1- they're bluffing, in which case what a shame for them
2- they've worked consistently at this thing to get it where it is
Sales don't *just happen* - there's a lag time between implementing the actions and seeing the result.
But you have to know WHAT to implement to see any result at all.
And inside my new programme That's Not A Business I'm breaking down the how of taking something most people believe is *a hobby* building it into a business on track for 6-figures, transforming women's lives by helping them make money too, and giving me the space to create a podcast AND write a book.
This is the first time I've run this programme so it's at a price not offered again.
We'll dig deeper into these 6 steps and a boat-load more BTS to help you create a business that feels fun and impactful REGARDLESS of you being ‘new’ to the industry or the industry itself being ‘new.’
➡️ 1 - went back to basics and made sure my foundations were nailed (in business & wardrobe)
Having a business that looks successful but is barely making money, is the equivalent of wearing a shiny new outfit for an event… and being in grotty pjs at home.
Foundations are where I start with clients in their style, and it's where I also had to go back to in my business.
➡️ 2 - focused on the conversations, not on the money
We all know that scratchy, constricted feeling of needing to make cash. But unfortunately that feeling is the exact opposite to how you need to feel to make things happen.
People can sense your energy, regardless of the words coming out of your mouth. When I focussed on having genuine conversations, or reconnecting with people vs ‘the money’… the money started coming in.
➡️ 3 - energy is everything (daily rituals/get dressed as standard even working from home alone)
You can be doing alllll the things but nothing's working. And it's because you aren't being. When I focussed on feeling first, the actions I took had more impact.
Plus there are psychological benefits to getting dressed. And I don't just mean ‘putting on clothes so you aren’t naked' - I mean if you're currently operating at 5/10, taking it up to a 10/10. This doesn't mean sacking off comfort for style, fyi. Your insistence that you can't have both is actually keeping you stuck.
➡️ 4 - raised my prices and became unavailable for any clients less than empowered brilliant women
Unfortunately in the moment where I wasn't making much money, I found myself going against my intuition and taking on a client who was giving red flag vibes.
She refused to pay at my rate (which was already way under where it should be), and then expected me to answer calls at 6am or on holiday. The final straw was when I messaged clients saying I'd be taking my birthday off and she told me that was unacceptable.
Telling her that I was ending our agreement felt scary, but it instantly gave me so much more confidence. I decided I was only available for dream clients and since then… nothing but dream clients have come my way.
➡️ 5 - switched my content from *how-to* to activation so it's working for me even when I'm on a beach
When you start a business, you almost can't help getting swept up in ‘the way things are done’.
You think that the way to attract clients is show off all your knowledge and give helpful ‘how-to’ content, tips and tricks.
That makes people view you as a free resource, not someone they'd ever consider paying.
The universe gave me a nudge to change my approach to content when I lost my instagram account and 8,000 followers with it. I realised how few of those followers were ever actually going to become clients.
Now I have around 600 followers and I make more sales from Instagram than I ever did.
Followers are not necessarily the thing you need - what you need is to learn how to create content that activates.
➡️ 6 - having high-level mentorship as a non-negotiable, not dipping in and out in areas I needed to strengthen
At the time of becoming suddenly very unwell, I was out of mentorship.
I kept kidding myself that ‘if I just make X money, if I can just get my business back to when it was on track, then I’ll invest in that programmme'…
But after struggling on for a few months, the day Instagram locked me out, I took it as a sign.
Since then I have not been out of mentorship. Aside from my long-term support, I've also invested in shorter-term programmes to strengthen my skills and confidence in other areas.
If style is a place you know you need to strengthen, enrollment for Own the Room is still open.
This is the essential style foundations course for female founders who want to feel super confident and get recognised as they scale to £5k months & beyond.
If you sign up for this round, you'll get That's Not A Business AS A BONUS 🤯
