  • EP 22: Music Is The Medicine We Need
Music has the power to heal like no other medium. Hella cultures have used music as a form of healing and medicine for centuries, especially in Africa. Music/sound is even credited with being the creation of the universe in the bible and in other spiritual and religious texts.

You don’t need to understand the lyrics or meaning to feel or be moved by music, which is why it’s the universal language of healing. Think about how hearing a certain song can teleport you back to a special memory or dramatically shift your mood within a few beats. Music is the medicine that feeds your mind, body, and soul and it’s also been scientifically proven to heal in case you had any doubts.

This week, in the spirit of Black History Month, we continue to discuss ways we as a collective Black and Brown community can use music to heal and thrive in the midst of the structural and institutionalized racism we experience on a regular basis. But we’ll also explore different ways to use music as a form of self-care, which we all need right now.

    You Hella Want To Catch:
    - Music’s role in the creation of the universe and use in various cultures
    - Scientific proof of how using music as medicine works
    - Music’s role in social and political movements
    - How music heals
    - Beyonce's Lemonade
    - Ways to use music as a form of self-care
    - Creating the perfect playlist
    - Why music is important right now

  • EP 21: Your Identity is Hella Influenced By Habits with Courage Molina
We build habits that support how we currently think about ourselves. Meaning, your current habits, whether conscious or subconscious, are reflections of who you believe yourself to be at this moment (aka- your identity). However, when we talk about building better habits, it's usually around eating healthy, getting more sleep, or exercising. We don't think about our identity-based habits and that's a huge mistake.

If identity-based habits are a new concept, this podcast episode will help you to understand how your habits influence your day-to-day life. An example of an identity-based habit could be when your exceptional ability to take care of your family and friends while working a full-time job makes you identify as a strong woman or superwoman. The reverse of that could be someone who constantly misplaces things may identify as being messy or disorganized.

Habits and identity will always work together to shape your life for the good or bad. If you’ve never done a health check on your identity-based habits, or it’s been a while, don’t worry, you’re not alone. My guest, Courage Molina of the Dose of Courage Podcast (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dose-of-courage/id1239999773), is fully transparent about her life and shares how she uses healthy identity-habits to positively impact her life so you can do the same.

  • EP 20: Check Your Mindset Before It Checks You with Dante Stephens
Your mindset directly impacts your success and failure but have you checked your beliefs recently to determine if they’re in alignment with what you say you really want in life? If not, you may be missing out on the overflow of abundance and joy you've been praying and trying to manifest and wondering why it's not working out.
To be honest, it can be tough to tell if your thoughts are unintentionally having a negative effect on your life and if they’re actually yours, to begin with, or from the influence of others. That’s part of the problem with a negative mindset—it clouds your judgment, but my guest, Dante Stephens of the CEO Mindset LLC, will bring clarity and offers some amazing tips on how to shift your mindset so that it’s in alignment with your dreams and goals.

In today's episode Dante and I will discuss:
    - The impact your mindset has on your success
    - Determine what is your mindset type
    - What’s the difference between a growth, fixed, and victim mindset
    - Steps to change your mindset to be aligned with your goals
    - Dante’s daily tips on how he sets himself up for success and to align with his goals

Happy New Year! This is the time of year when most are saying “new year, new me,” but it’s hard to make major shifts when your plate is already maxed out and you’re at capacity…or worst, living beyond your capacity. For years I lived beyond my capacity under the pretense that this is simply the life of the typical strong Black woman until it almost killed me. * Am I living at capacity?
    * How to figure out your capacity level
    * What shifts you can make to create a life balance
    * What or who is blocking your ability to flow effortlessly and how to change it
