Have you ever reached for your phone before bed, thinking you'd scroll for just five minutes—only to look up and realize half an hour has passed and you feel more restless than before?
Amber Ginter shares this evening's honest and timely devotional and prayer for anyone feeling the tug-of-war between rest and distraction. As she reflects on her own journey with social media and comparison, she invites us to:
Recognize the emptiness that distraction can leave behind
Reorder our hearts to prioritize eternal values
Rest not just physically, but spiritually, by fixing our minds on God
Paul’s wisdom in Colossians 3:2 isn't about legalism—it's about realignment. Realigning our focus away from the fleeting and toward the eternal. It’s not about cutting out every app or retreating from modern life, but about learning to hold it all loosely, knowing that only God’s love truly satisfies.
📖 Tonight’s Scripture: Colossians 3:2 (NIV)
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

🙏 Your Nightly Prayer
Dear God,
When I'm tempted to set my heart and mind on earthly things, would you gently nudge me in the right direction?
Would you help me to prioritize the values in my life with you first and everything else second?
Would you help me to see the beauty of the blessings you've given me, but to never place them above the beauty of yourself?
Please help me to use these gifts appropriately and set my sights on the virtues of your Word that can never be taken away from us.
We praise and thank you, Jesus. Amen.
🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon
Do you find it easier to distract yourself with worldly things?
Journal your honest thoughts with the Lord tonight. Let Him meet you in that vulnerable space.
How can you actively pursue the fruits of the Spirit this week?
Try choosing one fruit (Galatians 5:22–23) to intentionally live out each day.
When you're tempted to scroll, pause.
Go for a walk. Step outside. Breathe deeply. Use that moment to invite God to reset your focus.
