Co-hosts Dr. Pam Foster and Reashanda White were joined by Dr. Mary McIntyre to provide an update on COVID-19. Dr. McIntyre provided an update on the number of COVID-19 cases in Alabama. Listeners received an update on the seriousness of the Omicron variant. Dr. McIntyre provided an update on vaccinations for children.

Listeners received information on COVID-19 and pregnant women.  Also, listeners received information on the new CDC guidelines for isolation and quarantine. In addition, Dr. McIntyre informed listeners on the importance of vaccinations, masking and testing to combat COVID-19.

This week’s episode focused on HIV and Stigma. Dr. Foster talked about her research “PROJECT FAITHH”. She provided information on what is stigma and the different types of stigma related to HIV. Dr. Foster provided information on what they found and learned from the research project.

The co-hosts Dr. Pam Foster and Reashanda White provided an update on Women and PrEP. Dr. Foster informed listeners on the new injection PrEP medication recently approved by the FDA. Also, listeners were informed on why PrEP is important for African American Women. Dr. Foster shared with listeners about the new HIV Cares Tool App provided by the AIDS Education Training Center https://aidsetc.org/app.

This special show on A Woman’s Worth is dedicated to World AIDS Day was moderated by Dr. Pamela Payne Foster. After giving a short summary on the history of World AIDS Day (WAD) founded in 1988 along with a moment of silence in remembrance of those persons with HIV who have passed in the Montgomery area, she had three special guests of the AIDS Service Organization, Montgomery Advocacy Outreach (MAO) including Dr. Margarite Barber-Owens an internal medicine physician who was formerly in private practice in Montgomery and currently works part time as a clinician with MAO, Douglas McCloud- Education and Outreach and Teresa Benson - facilitator for the Women’s HIV Support Group. The guests covered two main topics from their respective: how HIV services and treatment have improved since the first WAD celebration and what HIV services and treatment will look like in the future.

During this show, Dr. Pam Foster was introduced as the new co-host of the show. Dr. Foster shared information on her background in HIV/AIDS. Also, she shared information with listeners about the HOT Spot HIV Study with Pastors from the Deep South. Dr. Foster provided information on what they found and learned from the study with Pastors.

Shericka Williams with MAO returned to the show to educate listeners about World AIDS Day. Shericka provided background information on World AIDS Day to listeners. Also, she shared the importance of World AIDS Day as well as the purpose of World AIDS Day. Listeners were informed of MAO's World AIDS Day event. Also, listeners were informed on ways to get involved in World AIDS Day 2021.

Dr. Pam Foster and Dr. Barbara Owens returned to the show to provide COVID 19 Updates. They both shared information on the Delta Variant. Dr. Owens informed listeners on the benefits of continuing to wear a mask, social distance and hand washing. Listeners received updated information on the Vaccine Booster Shot (3rd Shot). Dr. Foster and Dr. Owens continued to drive the point the POWER is in PREVENTION! The vaccine is the most powerful PREVENTION TOOL that is available to combat COVID 19 and save lives! They strongly encourage individuals to get vaccinated.

Dr. Pam Foster shared information about the new Vaccine Federal Mandate. Dr. Owens provided information on the vaccine pill that is in the works by Merck.  Also, Dr. Foster and Dr. Owens provided information about Pediatrics and the COVID 19 vaccine. Moreover, they provided guidance for upcoming holiday gatherings. Again, they encourage listeners to get vaccinated and those already vaccinated to get the booster shot or the 3rd shot.

Since October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we continue to talk about topics related to Domestic Violence. This show listeners were provided information on healthy relationships and HIV. Teresa provided a description of a relationship as well as a healthy relationship. She provided information on the signs of a healthy relationship.

In addition, listeners learned what is an unhealthy relationship. Also, Teresa provided signs of an unhealthy relationships.  Also, listeners were provided information on getting help for those in an abusive relationship. Moreover, Teresa provided information about HIV positive women and healthy relationships.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we continue to talk about topics related to Domestic Violence. Teresa recap information on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). Risk factors associated with IPV were shared.  Teresa provided a description of what is self-esteem as well as low self-esteem. Also, Teresa talked about self-worth, self-confidence and self-love. Teresa provided many examples and cases of what low self-esteem and high self-esteem looks like. Also, examples and cases of low self-worth, low self-confidence and low self-love is how the lack of the forenamed put women at increased risk for HIV. At the conclusion of the show, Teresa shared with listeners the importance of self-care and provided examples of ways women can take care of themselves.

Listeners were introduced to Teresa and her background as a therapist and working with HIV positive women. We kicked off the show with acknowledging National Domestic Violence Month.  Teresa shared Domestic Violence information and stats.  Teresa described Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). Also, she talked about the role IPV play in HIV infections. Mrs. Zeigler informed listeners on the most common types of IPV. Also, she shared the risk factors for IPV. Moreover, Teresa provided ways to prevent IPV as well as to stop IPV before it starts. Furthermore, she provided information on local organizations that individuals can contact if they are experiencing Intimate Partner Violence or in a Domestic Violence situation.
