Listeners were introduced to Teresa and her background as a therapist and working with HIV positive women. Teresa shared information with listeners about some struggles and issues that she witnessed HIV positive deal with. The main struggle for HIV positive women is (stigma) which prevents women from accessing and staying in treatment.  Also, Teresa shared with listeners that (support) is key for the empowerment of women living with HIV. She shared some examples of supports that community can provide for women living with HIV to access and adhere to treatment as well as improve their quality of life.

Listeners were introduced to Dr. Pam Foster and Dr. Barbara Owens. They both talked about the impact of COVID-19 in the African American Community. Dr. Owens addressed COVID-19 and the risk it poses for individuals living with HIV. She provided information on how individuals living with HIV can protect themselves from HIV. In addition, Dr. Owens shared with listeners the COVID-19 vaccine is an effective way to protect HIV positive individuals.

Dr. Pam Foster shared information about the science associated with the COVID-19 vaccine. She provided information on the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine. Also, she shared that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe for individuals with HIV as well. In addition, Dr. Foster spoke on the vaccine confidence in the African American Community. Dr. Foster encouraged listeners that have not received the vaccine to get vaccinated.

Doug McCloud shared information about MAO and his role at MAO.  Also, he informed listeners about MAO’s upcoming annual Tread Red Walk and Fun Run scheduled to take place on Saturday September 18 @ 8am. Doug informed listeners about the purpose of the Walk as well as some background information and the location of the Walk. Listeners were informed on the activities taking place at the Walk as well other partnering organizations associated with the Walk. Doug shared with listeners on how to participate in the Walk.  Also, listeners were made aware of COVID-19 safety protocols that will be in place for the Walk. Doug provided contact information for listeners to get involved in the Tread Red Walk and Fun Run.

Shericka Williams with MAO returned to the show to educate listeners about Women and PrEP. Shericka described to listeners what is PrEP and side effects of using PrEP.  Also, she shared how PrEP prevents the spread of HIV.  Shericka listed high risk behaviors and why some women may consider using PrEP.  Also, she informed listeners why PrEP is encouraged for women that participate in behaviors that put them at increased risk for HIV.

Listeners were introduced to Deandra as her background in HIV in America and Africa. Also, Deandra shared information with listeners about her experience as a doula. She defined what a doula is and does.

Deandra provided listeners with information on HIV and maternal health. Listeners were informed on why maternal health is important for women and the baby. Also, she explained the importance of maternal health for women at increased risk for HIV as well as those who are HIV positive. She provided listeners with information to reach her at MAO to learn more about HIV and maternal health.

Tykeysha Boone returned to the show to continue the conversation with listeners about National Faith HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. She talked about her work Ty Boone Consulting and services provided for AIDS Service Organizations and Community Organizations serving individuals infected with HIV. We shared with listeners the purpose of National Faith HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Also, we shared ways the faith community can aid in reducing stigma. In addition, Mrs. Boone shared simple ways the faith community can get involved HIV/AIDS by raising awareness about HIV/AIDS.

Tykeysha Boone returned to the show to talk with listeners about National Faith HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. She talked about her work Ty Boone Consulting and services provided for AIDS Service Organizations and Community Organizations serving individuals infected with HIV. We shared our experiences creating and developing culturally sensitive HIV/AIDS programs for heterosexual African American Women in the faith community.

We shared with listeners the purpose of National Faith HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Also, we shared ways the faith community can aid in reducing stigma and the barrier of women testing for HIV as well as accessing HIV treatment.  Examples were provided as to faith leaders working in HIV that assisted with individuals accessing treatment. In addition, Mrs. Boone shared simple ways the faith community can get involved HIV/AIDS.

Shericka Williams with MAO returned to the show to talk about HIV, Stigma, Fear and Disclosure. Shericka shared with listeners her role at MAO and education programs provided for the community. She talked about the issue of stigma and fear as it relates to women accessing treatment. She provided information about women including HIV testing and STI screening as a part of the routine pap smear. Also, Shericka talked in depth about HIV positive women and disclosing status in new intimate partner relationships.

Listeners were introduced to Tykeysha Boone and her work with Ty Boone Consulting. Mrs. Boone talked about her background in HIV/AIDS and African American Women. Also, she shared with listeners about her consulting services for AIDS Service Organizations (ASO’s)  in Montgomery and throughout Alabama. She provided information about HIV and stigma. Listeners learned how stigma prevents African American women from becoming educated about HIV as well as testing and accessing HIV treatment. Mrs. Boone talked with listeners about African American Women protecting everyone else however the time is now to start protecting themselves by taking care of their sexual health.

Cedric Wherry shared with listeners his background in HIV/AIDS. Also, he shared information with listeners about his show. Listeners received information on ways African American Women can prevent HIV/AIDS. Also, Cedric provided information on how HIV is spread. Cedric talked about relationships and HIV. For example, knowing one’s HIV status when individuals get into a new relationship. In addition, Cedric addressed the importance of African American Women knowing her worth and value.
