In the first episode of this multi-part series, Here’s the Tower’s investigative journalist team digs into an unsolved case from four decades ago.

On April 24, 1979, the residents in the quiet town of Haniston, Kentucky, were left reeling in shock after three masked criminals pulled off a daring robbery at Pleasant Valley Savings Bank. Suspicions and theories still surround the case 40 years later.

In the series, we’ll hear archival clips from news reports, as well as firsthand accounts from people who were on the scene when the heist unfolded.  The crime was expertly coordinated and according to one witness, “What they done in there was real surgical. It was real surgical like.”

In this prequel to episode 10 of Here’s the Tower, the public relations team at Jurassic Park attempts to get out in front of some criticism by issuing a personal message from InGen founder John Hammond.

The Electric Light Orchestra is one of my favorite bands and their leader, Jeff Lynne, is one of my favorite songwriters. When we were growing up, my brother had their amazing Out of the Blue album and that’s how I discovered their music.

ELO became one of the elusive artists that I have loved for most of my life that I never imagined I would get the chance to see live.

After an extended hiatus of almost 15 years, Jeff Lynne returned to performing again with an updated version of ELO in 2014. Since then, I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to see them play twice, once in Amsterdam in 2016 and again in Stockholm in 2018.

In this audio postcard, you’ll hear Mike Stevens, the musical director of Jeff Lynne’s ELO, introducing some of the 13 people on stage at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on May 1, 2016.

In this high-fidelity, stereophonic audio postcard, the listener is transported to a real Swedish kitchen to hear me washing the dishes.

It is not unusual that I break a dish or glass during the dishwashing process. Thus I have an eclectic collection of mostly non-matching dishes from a variety of origins.

I am happy to report that no dishes were harmed during the production of this episode. I was being extra careful to not embarrass myself by creating a loud crashing sound while recording my handiwork and also to not get water all over the recording equipment.

Recorded on location in the Stockholm suburb of Norra Sköndal, the evening of Tuesday, February 12, 2019, with a payload of mostly glasses.

The result of this audio production is that if you listen really closely and shut your eyes, I think you’ll feel whisked away into the magical world of my household chores.
