When a Vertigo book not a Vertigo book? When it’s a crossover! Yes, Micheal takes Dad to school as they look at ROTWORLD – the Animal Man/Swamp Thing epic that runs across lots and lots and lots of comics. There are probably some digressions along the way as well as the adverts in the books remind us when certain comics were still being published and Before Watchmen was a reality.

For the first 31minutes and 40 seconds, Micheal and Andrew discuss Captain America – The Winter Soldier. If you haven’t yet seen that film you may wish to skip the first 30 minutes. It’s part two of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of DAREDEVIL – THE MAN WITHOUT FEAR as the not-at-all-random number generator spits out issues 181, 191, 200 and 223. How does Frank Miller wrap up his landmark run? Why is Issue 200’s cover not more celebrated? And, after being left out of SECRET WARS how does Daredevil’s meeting with THE BEYONDER go? All of these questions and more may or may not be answered in the episode.

It can’t have escaped your notice that DAREDEVIL – The Man Without Fear has turned 50 this year, what with all the hoopla and celebrations Marvel have been throwing at us. Wait. You mean that hasn’t been ANY hoopla or celebrations? Other than a new number 1 but that’s no big deal anymore. OK then – we’ll put the show on right here. Micheal and Andrew celebrate 50 years of acrobatic daring and serial womanising with the dapper dan of the super hero set. See crusading lawyer kill off his alter ego, swinging Mike Murdock in #41. Watch as he defends a Vietnam Vet in one of the most underated Silver Age comics in #47. Marvel at the televised fight with Bullseye (admit it – we all had a copy on video) in #146 and be gobsmacked at the blatant attempts to curry favour with readers by featuring a tie in to a successful TV show when he fights the Hulk in #163. What’s that? You want an episode that harkens back to the glory days that maybe never were? Well, how lucky you are! Micheal and Andrew are here to kick it old skool with an episode that recalls those halcyon days when Andrew picked a comic and Micheal picked a comic. Andrew, predictably, goes for a classic Claremont/Byrne/Austin combo that is in no way influenced by the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy movie – STAR-LORD. Micheal zigs when he picks a classic Manga – Lone Wolf & Cub. It’s lovingly wrapped up in an email shaped bow and lashed with wrong headed opinions.

In another All-Reader-Request episode, Micheal and Andrew discuss another project they know nothing about. People seem to want us to talk about things of which we have no knowledge – weird. Anyway, this week it’s the turn of the Robots In Disguise, THE TRANSFORMERS, specifically the UK comics. What will Andrew and Micheal think of the ongoing war between the Decepticons and the Autobots? It could go either way but we’re pretty sure you won’t find the acronym TFUK as funny as they do.

In 1984, Marvel UK embarked upon a unique experiment. An all-new, completely original, UK produced comic strip. This adventure, by Micheal Collins and Barry Kitson, has never been reprinted and seems to have been all but forgotten by all but the most devoted Spider-Man fan. Fortunately Andrew and Micheal are devoted Spider-Man fans so why don’t you join them as they bring to you – Spider-Man’s Lost Adventure In London!

Dreadful Birthday, Dear Joker wraps up with a rather long discussion on the recent multi-part EPIC – DEATH OF THE FAMILY! This much-hyped and extensive storyline, crossing over into pretty much any book with with a “Bat” in the title (and a few that didn’t) was the first large scale appearance of The Joker in the radical, brave new world that was the New 52. Can it possibly hope to live up to the hype? How does it rate next to other, more classic Joker stories? Well, time will tell on that score but for now, listen to two blithering idiots tell you what they think of it.

Dreadful Birthday, Dear Joker continues by looking at – Dreadful Birthday, Dear Joker from Batman #321. We never said we WEREN’T predictable. Also, there’s a look at BATMAN #353 where The Joker wishes to make his face a true landmark and Batman #366 where The Joker Is Wild, but not THAT wild. In fact compared to a lot of stories, he’s downright sane in the conclusion to a 3 part story. Love That Joker!
