Happy 55th birthday Singapore! 🇸🇬 This year we’re all at home watching the parade, so why not give this special episode a listen too? We’re featuring stories entirely from Singapore! Shann explains to us what kombucha tastes like and we’re still not sure about it. What even does bubbly vinegar truly taste like? Do we really want to know? This week Chris brings you the famous Toa Payoh Ritual murders, where far too many twists and turns happen you’d think it’s a Stephen King novel. Honda then shares several ghost stories from one of the most common places to witness the paranormal: National Service. Oh wow it’s episode 9! This week we share our thoughts and feelings on the recent City Revival video that’s been circulating on social media. Spoiler: we’re not fans of it. Honda tells us the infuriating story of the Sagamihara stabbings in Japan by Uematsu Satoshi—who believed that disabled people would be the cause of… World War III? We also delve into the larger social issues exposed because of this crime. As for the paranormal, Shann tells us about the local superstition of opening umbrellas indoors. If you’re guilty about doing this… we advise you stop. If not… you might wake up with an umbrella on your chest. Shann also tells us more stories about her mother’s third eye! Finally, Honda and Shann both describe a Japanese ghost while Chris attempts to draw it out. We’ll be sharing it on Instagram so everyone can marvel at her masterpiece! GUESS WHO’S BACK, BACK AGAIN! We’ve missed you guys (although it’s only been a week). This week we discuss the telegram group SG GIRLS and how women can’t even take photos for their social media without someone taking it and spreading it to thousands of people unsolicited. We strongly urge everyone to report the group on telegram! Shann also tells us the story of Indonesia’s most prolific serial killer, Ahmad Suradji who… needed the saliva of 42 women in order to become a stronger shaman. Chris then shares the bizarre tale of the Watseka Wonder from Watseka, Illinois where a girl found her body being used as a vessel for a spirit. Strange sounds have been heard by the three of us too and we think it’s because Chris made fun of Taira no Masakado and his spirit’s PISSED. We’re VERY CERTAIN that this episode is cursed because this is our billionth attempt at recording it. Chris tells the story of Elizabeth Wettlaufer from Ontario, Canada (woo Canada!) an Angel of Death serial killer who took the lives of eight elderly and got away with it for years. Honda then freaks everyone out with the legend of the Skinwalker from the Indigenous Navajo nation, and shares two stories about encounters with this cryptid. If you have pets—you might want to double check if they’re not actually human. We also share about our feelings about being first time voters for the #GE2020 election. Unfortunately, Honda’s neighbours decided that they REALLY want to show off their cars, so there’s some background vroom vrooms, and we apologise for it! This episode is a rollercoaster ride, trust us. Chris introduces the newest addition to her family, which may or may not be exhausting her right to the bone. Honda then proceeds to share the story of the Golden State Killer aka the East Area Rapist aka the Original Night Stalker, Joseph DeAngelo. His monicker may or may not remind us of a certain philanthropist… Shann then goes on to scare us (and herself) with a local intriguing tale of a girl’s encounter with her helper who dabbled in black magic. We also delve into the topic of the mistreatment of helpers in Singapore (Chris may or may not have ended up crying) and would like to give a shoutout to @maidformoresg (on Instagram) for all their work bridging the gap between helpers and their employers! You won’t believe us, but somehow Shann and Chris ended up picking stories on… children! It must be that strong Taurus-Cancer compatibility, though mercury IS in retrograde right now. Chris also laments that she feels like the universe is trying to tell her something about motherhood, so it’s all coincidentally thematic. Shann tells us the story of Mary Bell (and her friend, Normal Bell) who decided that being a child murderer was the way to celebrate adolescence. Chris, on the other hand, brings the creepy tale of the Black-Eyed Kids, who for all we know, could be Jedis (Honda is convinced that they are).
