  • Episode 52: Netflix and Chill
For as long as your High Five hosts have been alive, network and cable television have dominated the airwaves. Then Netflix came onto the scene, and while movie distributors were shakin' in their booties, TV execs were laughing and thinking they were untouchable. But NO MORE! In this episode, J & Q dive into the streaming service's back-catalog to dig out the Top 5 Netflix Orginal Programming Shows. You're going to want to fire up your queue before starting this episode because these are the best shows that Netflix has to offer, and if you haven't watched them, people will laugh at you and not want to come to your birthday party.
When we aren't talking about Netflix and all the great options on it, we stray wildly from our conversation to talk about how Hulu and Amazon Prime stack up, which upcoming shows we are most excited about, and then a whole bunch of other stuff that you will most definitely care about. Finally, Q & J partake in a rousing game of "Notflix" where they pitch similar-sounding monthly services that are most definitely not going to be as popular as Netflix (but may be more popular than Qwikster......ha, remember Qwikster?!?!?!). Will this episode be a 94% match for you? The only way to find out is to Netflix and Chill with us.
(Seriously, Qwikster was the worst...what were they thinking?)

  • Episode 51: Oops, We Missed the Screener Review: Atomic Blonde
When you run a successful movie podcast, such as this one, you frequently get asked to go see early screeners of upcoming releases and provide reviews. Such was the case for Atomic Blonde, the Charlize Theron kick ass vehicle, which we were recently asked to screen and review. Unfortunately, both hosts missed the screener. But not seeing a movie has never stopped Q & J from having opinions on them, so they decided to give you a review anyway. Introducing the Oops, We Missed the Screener review of Atomic Blonde! You won't believe the twists that (probably) happen in the film, and both J & Q were blown away by the (potential) body parts John Goodman has on display. Is Atomic Blonde a back door sequel or prequel to some of your favorite movies? Maybe! How exactly is James McAvoy's name pronounced? Who knows! Be sure to listen closely to get the REAL scoop on David Leitch's Atomic Blonde, even though we didn't see it and are 100% right about everything.

  • Episode 50: Volleyballs and Swiss Army Knives - A Survivalist Guide
"Nature is a cruel beast," some smart person once said. Or was it "Nature is as Nature does?" Who knows. All we know is Seth MacFarlane summed it nicely when he said, "Damn Nature, you scary!" This week on the show, Q & J take a look at movies where the only villain is simply being outdoors, in their Top 5 Man vs Nature movies of all time. When life gives you Nature, you make Nature Made, but what do you do when life gives you an F5 tornado? Or a tidal wave? Or 5 minutes of spot-on Owen Wilson impressions? You made the most devastating podcast in the history of ever, that's what you do.
After living in the wreckage of natural disasters, the guys come up with small scale Man vs Nature movies, before diving back into the best damn Owen Wilson impressions this side of the Rio Grande. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but that's just how Nature plays dirty, the saying goes. After listening to this episode you'll truly understand the dangers of ever going outside, so let's just stay in and play video games. What do you say?

  • Episode 48: You Only Spin Off Once, And Sometimes Twice
Many people don't know this, but High Five: The Podcast is really a spin-off of a short-run cable access puppet show called Mr. Fivel's Fingerbang Parade. Given our history, it's surprising that it has taken J & Q so long to unveil their Top 5 TV Spin-Offs episode, but let us assure you, it was worth the wait. Did you realize that all your favorite shows are actually spin-offs of all your other favorite shows? Probably not, which is why we are going to shove some knowledge in your ear portals. Where does Mork & Mindy rank in the annals of TV spin-off fame? Did AfterMASH make the list (it did not)? Why is everyone always asking us for tossed salad and scrambled eggs? It sounds like a sex thing if you ask us. Find out all these answers and more on this week's episode!
Aside from the amazingly surprising discussion on TV spin-offs, Q & J take a quick break to spitball some much-needed new spin-off series from our favorite shows and talk about Bea Arthur (our spirit animal). It's a party and all your favorite people are invited. Luckily you are too, but not your weird cousin Marcus with the animal feet.....you know why, stop asking us to invite him! You know, all this talk of Marcus got us upset, just listen to the episode and we'll talk again when your attitude gets adjusted.

  • Episode 47 - And Other Stuff Too: Summer of '89
Let's be honest, 1989 was a pretty great year. The Nintendo Gameboy was introduced to the world, the Berlin Wall was destroyed, people used the word "bombdiggity" a lot more than they do now, and...oh yeah, it was pretty much the best Summer movie season in cinema history. On this very special Other Stuff Too, J & Q dive into the Summer movies of 1989, including Ghostbusters 2, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Batman, Weekend at Bernies, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Dead Poet's Society, and more (we told you it was a good movie season, Howard Doubty-Pants). Not only that, we dive into why Summer and movies are forever linked and how nowadays kids don't understand what they missed out on. In our day, we had to walk to the movies, in 5 feet of snow when it's 100 degrees outside, uphill.....both ways! These are truly Summer movies you don't want to miss, and we have your back. So strap in, get comfortable, and travel back in time with us to a simpler age...a better age...a bushier age.

  • Episode 46: Shlubthumping: The Ballad of One-and-Done McGee
What do Mambo No. 5, Flappy Bird and Tom Hanks have in common? That's right, they were all one hit wonders that we love to hate. You may think we're wrong about Tom Hanks being in that list, but on this episode, Q & J are discussing and dissecting the Top 5 One Hit Wonder Directors of all time. These are the guys that came out of the gate on fire, and in most cases, got consumed by that fire, leaving nothing but a pile of ash, disappointment, and charred pocket lint. These are directors that introduced the world to some of the best films of all time, giving us a glimpse into their worlds, only to vanish and leave us wanting more, like a bad lover.
When we aren't discussing famous flame-outs, we dive into the widely popular theory that Liv Tyler may be a living pile of cum, all the things that director Tony Kaye looks like, and play a harrowing game of The Movie Title Game. You don't want to miss it, trust us. Just like our list of directors, it's possible we may dissipate into the mist once our American classic is on the books. See you later, masturbator. After while, pedophile.

  • Episode 44: Rinse and Repeat Viewings
We've seen it all before, and again......and again again. In this episode that demands repeat listens, J & Q are counting down their Top 5 Rewatchable TV Shows. You know the ones. These are the shows you always come back to, like chocolate cake or your very embarrassing past, you freak! Like sand through an hourglass, so are the TV shows on our lists (and, no, Days of Our Lives isn't on there). What shows do you put on in the background when you've had a bad day? Which shows are always funny no matter how many times you've watched them? Those are the shows that we're focused on this go-round, but our answers are the right ones.
After the lists, Q & J test their knowledge of the most popular shows by partaking in a game of "Who's Quote Is It Anyway?" to find out who the true master of repeated TV really is. Once a victor has been crowned, blood is spilled and cupcakes are shared with the commonfolk. You definitely don't want to listen to this one only once, because just like Pringles, once you pop these shows, you just can't stop. Forever, and ever. Amen.

  • Episode 43 - And Other Stuff Too: WTF, DCEU?
Batman, Wonder Woman, The Joker, Green Lantern........what could go wrong? When you have some of the most adored comic book properties in history, it's a given that movies based on those properties are guaranteed to be fantastic, right? Well, so far, the DCEU (DC's cinematic universe), consisting of Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad, has taken that challenge and proven it's possible to make extremely unpopular movies with extremely popular characters. Take THAT hopes and dreams of comic books nerds everywhere!
In this And Other Stuff Too, J & Q take a deep dive into the history of movies based on DC properties to see what works, what doesn't, and what needs to change to start making movies we give a shit about. This episode was so prophetic when it was recorded, that DC has already put some of our ideas into action. Find out which ones by listening to our conversation. Nostradamus would be jealous.
