Most real estate agents will come to a point in their business where it feels like they might need to change brokerages, or at least check their options. *Disclaimer: This is not a recruiting podcast!*
Over my 20 year history in this industry, I've been with 5 real estate brokerages, and every time I've pivoted and moved to a new one, I have learned invaluable lessons about myself, my business, and all the options that are out there.
In this episode, I walk through the moves I've made and what I learned through each iteration of my career, including:
- The different types of brokerage models and value propositions, and how drastically the brokerage business has evolved in the last decade
- How to evaluate compensation structure, especially if you have a team
- Why you might feel guilty or feel pressured to stay where you are
- Evaluating if your brokerage's agenda might not be aligned with your inner voice & needs
- Distinguishing WHO you want to be around and learn from, and whether you should look for that in a manager, broker, mentor, trainer, or other structure that best fits your goals and needs

It can be extremely tricky to build a team when you are a real estate agent who does business by referral. Client perception and experience is important - you don’t want your clients to feel coldly handed off or disappointed with anyone on your team. AND - your quality of life is important too! Without anyone to back you up in the field or in the office, the 24/7 nature of real estate can be exhausting and eventually lead to burnout.
I am frequently asked how I’ve navigated these challenges and what it boils down to is that I’ve discovered that works best for me is what I call a “micro team”. The Beliveau Group is a lean, mean, well-oiled machine made up of a select group of top tier professionals. Through careful building and quality control, I have grown and maintained a system that works extremely well for me, my team members, and my clients.

In this episode, I’ve brought in a special guest to share her best practices on turning showings into closings. One of the drums I like to beat for agents is to remember that while focusing on new/better ways to lead generate can be very alluring, oftentimes one of the best money-making opportunities in front of us is to get stronger at converting the leads we already have.

One of the questions I most commonly get from real estate agents is what EXACTLY they should be doing to grow their business by referral. In this set of 2 episodes, I give my 10 step formula for turning relationships into referrals and repeat business.
