High Regard Show

In Episode 39 of the “High Regard Show,” “Parked with Liz Barrett,” we take take comedian Liz Barrett hostage in Central Park to talk about the comedy industry, inspirations for her material and old-time TV. No kids, dogs or rats were harmed during the outing, but all were experienced up close and personal. Ah, the unpredictability of recording in the great outdoors!

In Episode 37 of the “High Regard Show,” “The No Focus Show,” we talk about Asian trash mongers in New York, "American Psycho the Musical," which is Tom's all-time favorite play and our growing intolerance for rape culture. Growing? I don't think we can be more anti-rape, but thank you for catching up, rest of the country. As an added bonus, this week's "Did you know" covers ADD and ADHD. It was literally the only way we could justify the road map of this week's show.

It was also Nikki's birthday this past Friday! She sounds pretty good for an old curmudgeon, don't ya think?

In Episode 36 of the “High Regard Show,” “Creativity & Katina,” we give ya a little peek into the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. If you have never been, and most of you probably haven't, it is so inspiring to see the future creatives of tomorrow, as well as special guest speeches from Alex Baldwin, Tim Gunn, Ken Burns, and my boss, Mr. Dick Robinson, who had to do little more than mention Scholastic's body of work to get the crowd into a frenzy!

Also, while Tom was yucking it up at Carnegie Hall, Nikki jumped off the bowl to take a phone interview with this week's awesome guest, professional actress and comedian Katina Corraro, who's releasing a video of her Apple iTune's No. 1 comedy album, "Hot Date," via Reelhouse. Although Nikki claims to love Katina, she did compare her to Alka-Seltzer — you be the judge if it's a good thing or not. Seriously, Katina, we really dig you, and not just for the cookies you promised us (although we will be holding you to them, no backs!).

In Episode 35 of the “High Regard Show,” “#LetItBe,” we ask the question, "What the hell's with #GiveCaptianAmericaABoyfriend and #GiveElsaAGirlfriend?" Is this what our political correctness has bought us to? Sure, there are many people who should be upset their gender or sexuality is not represented, and we can totally support that, but if you take a story or character that does not belong to you and impose your ideology on it through social media, is not noble, but rather it makes you a thief and a bully.

You want representation? Instead of hashagging it, try going out and creating something of your own. If you can't invest real time in your cause, why should anyone else? And Hollywood has proven it just can't get this issue right, so it's up to us — and you — to do it.

If you were going to try and steal a superhero, I think we can agree you missed your opportunity when Ben Affleck took over the Batman role. That could have been the one thing that could have saved that flick ...

In Episode 34 of the “High Regard Show,” “Comic Conned,” we ask the question, "What the hell did we do to not be invited to NYC Comic Con this year?" It's not like we are over-privileged kids with a few friends listening to our stories of scallops and otters - we have been covering this event for six out of the last 10 years and always give it 110 percent! Will we miss being there? Maybe a little, but damn, Daniel, we feel more dissed than anything!

In time, we will work to get back into the open arms of the con, but until that time, the person who denied our application can suck it! So listen to what Tom's therapist will be having to listen to next week, along with some of our best and worst experiences while attending NYCC over the past 10 years. Oh, and for some reason Nikki throws in some Cher references and even breaks out into song - I apologize in advance for turning this horror show into season four of "American Horror Story." Stop with the goddamn music already!

Thank god for those strawberry shakes that we had on hand or things could have really gotten out of control! Don't be too jealous, they were just OK, thanks a lot Comic Con!

In Episode 31 of the “High Regard Show,” “Zombie Test,” we find out if Nikki would ever actually survive a zombie apocalypse thanks to the the most advanced Zombie test online at zomboid.com. Are the results as bad as we thought? Will the High Regard Show co-host survive such an event? Is there any chance of Tom getting a pistachio muffin ever again? We've got some answers, and I highly doubt anyone will be surprised by them.

Imaging being able to make it till a rescue team clears the area, and in the end, you can't cook well, so you wind up starving to death or injuring yourself opening a can. Yes, there is a scar. Nikki, the message here is avoid can openers if you are trying to survive any kind of apocalypse.

Can we go to sleep yet? We cant beat insomnia, how the hell are we expected to beat zombies?
