Join us for a conversation about living into the new life God has given us as we continue our series in Colossians. This week, our passage is Colossians 3:1-11

Our ideas and practice of church have been challenged by recent history. What is church? In this passage, Paul lays out the belief systems that are informing the church’s identity. Join us as we examine what he has to say about the source, means, nature and effect of false and true identities, and consider what it means to keep our identities, as people and as a church, centered on Jesus.

Jesus is creating a multi-ethnic family. The apostle Paul stewards this mystery and identifies a mystery that God desires to reveal to us – Christ in you, which is the fundamental truth of your identity.

We explore the text known as the Christ hymn, and the unique role of the church that emerges for Paul’s Christology.

We begin a series of messages in Colossians by exploring the context of Paul’s letter, as well as his prayer that the Colossians would be centered on God’s will in Jesus.

God created you with purpose and a calling on your life, and God is always working in us, preparing us, forming our character, to be ready for what he’s called us to do. This morning we sit with the invitation to love that process by embracing the long-haul perspective, leaning into being stretched, and letting go of perfectionism.

We conclude our series by exploring the final Candle of Advent, which reminds us of the wonderfully simple, yet wonderfully profound truth the God loves you.

This week, as we light the Candle of Good News, we remember that God is faithful to His promises, and is still present and at work, even in difficult circumstances.

The third week of advent we light the candle of Joy. As we listen to the story of Jesus’ birth we are reminded of the joy that the good news this baby brought.

This week, as we light the advent candle of peace, we take a look at our text from Isaiah 11 to see what it has to tell us about the source of peace (how do we get it?), the vision of peace (what does it look like, and how does that inform us now?), and the way to peace (what are some practical marks of a peacemaker?). Join us to see how the Biblical concept of peace differs from our cultural concept, offers us a radical hope, and challenges how we live today.
