Homo in Training

“I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves and then to one another and the world, is a revolutionary act. It is an act that can be met with hostility, exclusion, and violence. It can also lead to love, understanding, transcendence, and community. I hope that my being real with you will help empower you to step into who you are and encourage you to share yourself with those around you.”

Back with another “thotful moment” where we share some insightful personal stories! This episode is especially exciting because it’s a series of topics over non-hetero sex. This Queer Sex Series episode will be over our first times!

We are joined with some very special guests! “Straight up out of Kansas City, yeah we made it out there” our love BELLA, our amazing friend Casey and get a little drop in from a crowd favorite our roomie Angel.

We introduce the episode with our thots on how we identify with the LGBLT community. Then discuss how and where did we learn to have sex? Cause y’all know our parents didn’t tell us nothing.

From that conversation we delve into some pretty good questions like does sex mean penetration and how did we know we were LGBTQ? We also gush over the gay cultural impact of the Showtime tv series, The L Word!

We are so happy to be covering these specific topics. As a queer podcast, we think it’s important to normalize these conversations. We are so often shamed for talking about our queer sex lives with heterosexuals because they don’t understand. We hope this conversation made you smile, relate and laugh because it’s important for us to spread helpful knowledge and create a safe space for any LGBTQIA+ individual. We aren’t called Homo In Training for nothin’!

A.K.A Mimi, MC, The Elusive Chanteuse, Mirage, THE Voice, Songbird Supreme and least we not forget.. THE QUEEN OF CHRISTMAS!

This week for our “entertainment moment” we are reacting/reviewing the legend herself, Mariah mothaf*ckin’ Carey! Fun fact.. that’s not her actual middle name, she doesn’t have one. We are joined by one of our good friend, Matthew aka Teddy (if you’re a true listener you know Teddy aka Angel's boyfran) and open up about how we initially heard about Ms. Carey.

Mariah recently came out with a new album called The Rarities and J, Lesly & Teddy discuss some of their favorite songs. We will also be discussing the drama between Jennifer Lopez & Mariah and why Tommy Mottola is trash.

Mariah also came out with a new book called “The Meaning of Mariah Carey” but we will not covering too much of it because we really want to focus on the music. The only reason we cover the J.Lo drama is because “I Don’t Know Her” has become such a phenomenon (also J & Teddy love J.Lo, too) that we felt like we had to discuss that.

There is no denying Mariah is an ICON and one of the greatest vocalist of all time so we react to her 2020 at home performances for Good Morning America and talk about why people keep saying she’s lost her voice.

In this house we support women, especially woman of color. We hope you have been enjoying our “entertainment moment” because we love talking about music!

Trust us… we don’t like the presidential nominees either but the choice is CLEAR AF.

Welcome back for another “thotful moment” where J and Lesly talk about a very controversial topic.. POLITICS! We have been told our whole lives that you should never discuss money or politics and that just doesn’t work for us. Everyone’s lives are effected by politics and for us to ignore that because we don’t want a “hostile” conversation is not enough of a reason to stay quiet.

Election day is just a few days away and we discuss why we are choosing Biden & Kamala over Tr*mp & the fly on Pence’s head, why critiques days before the election are dangerous if you have a platform, and remind listeners why not voting is the worst thing you can do.

It’s not all doom and gloom because J & Lesly also talk about what they are doing to advance the cause and some inspiring words to NEVER GIVE UP AND DO NOT LOSE HOPE! We will win. Change is within our reach and we are powerful.

2021 is not the end but the beginning. Get your big kid pants on and LETS GET INVOLVED!!

Back with another MUSIC REACTION/REVIEW of the amazing and talented Lianne La Havas! She came out with a self-titled album “Lianne La Havas” on July 17, 2020 and we are here to talk about it!

J & Lesly talk about Lianne’s history, when we first started listening to her music, which songs are our favorites from the new album and how they currently apply to our lives.

Instead of covering her music videos we decided to react and review her NPR Tiny Desk performance, gush about her quirky sweater and explain what makes her music different from the Billboard Top 40.

We have so much respect for this woman and are so happy her music has graced our presence. It’s really worth a listen! If you’re looking for something completely different from what's on the radio, LIANNE IS FOR YOU!

"Shining through the city with a little funk and soul!"

We are so excited to be reacting to a band we have never heard before, BTS! The famous K-Pop group that is taking over the world!

J & Lesly interview Eresay (Lesly’s lil sis) and ask her questions like, who is BTS, why do you listen to music you can’t understand, and what other BTS songs slap.

We go over BTS’ new English song Dynamite and discuss their Teletubbies inspired music video! To finish off we talk about their popularity and find out some interesting facts about their record sales.

Music is one of the funnest episodes we do and I hope you all enjoy it!

“If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” - RuPaul

We got ourselves into an entanglement this episode! Today we are discussing our experiences in life with romantic relationships.

We were inspired by the Red Table Talk Jada Pinkett-Smith had with Will Smith. Everyone has an opinion on that marriage, just like us but we will not be discussing their marriage. We want to use this opportunity to show people the different experiences we all have with dating. There is no “one size fits all” in relationships.

Join J & Lesly, and their special guest/roommate Angel, as we talk about our first relationships, first heartbreaks and of course our perspective on marriage in general. Also, we wanna know.. is cheating a deal breaker?

This episode is longer than usual because we tried to break up a long episode a few weeks ago, when we released our “BLACK LIVES MATTER: Latinos NEED to do better!” episode. This time we are gonna just release the whole thing! We hope you enjoy!

Auf Wiedersehen!
