Mark Christner is in his fifth year as the Women's Basketball Head Coach at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Christner has an overall won-loss record of 62-30 in his four seasons including a conference record of 36-17. He has led the Knights to four consecutive trips to the MIAA Tournament semifinals. In 2023, he led Calvin to its first 20-win campaign since 2017. The Knights were nationally-ranked for 11 weeks during the 2022-23 campaign. His teams have achieved in the classroom as all four of his Calvin teams have received the MIAA Team GPA Award for posting a cumulative team grade point average of 3.30 or above.

Christner spent the previous nine years as head men’s basketball coach at Waynesburg University (Pa.). Prior to serving as head men’s basketball coach at Waynesburg, Christner spent eight years as an assistant coach with the Calvin men’s basketball program and three years as an assistant coach with the Calvin women’s basketball program.

Christner graduated from Calvin in 1999, where he played two years on the Calvin junior varsity men’s basketball team and one year on the varsity.

Derrell Nelson was born and raised in inner city Rochester, New York. Derrell’s book, Tour de Hoops: Bigger Than Basketball tells of his experiences playing basketball overseas.

Derrell never played high school basketball. He graduated from Le Moyne College with a bachelor’s degree in business management and finance. He began graduate school in 2015 at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom where he played for the men’s basketball team, accomplishing a life-long dream.

In 2016, Derrell won the MVP award for his college basketball team in the UK. After playing only one year of college basketball, he decided to turn pro overseas.

He has experienced some of the best and worst things that come with playing professional basketball and learned some life lessons along the way that he shares in his new book, Tour de Hoops: Bigger Than Basketball.

Skye Ettin is beginning his first season as a men’s basketball assistant coach at UC Santa Barbara. Skye previously served 6 seasons as an assistant coach at Princeton where he helped the Tigers to an overall record of 133-69 and a run to the Sweet 16 in 2023.

Skye played his collegiate basketball at The College of New Jersey where he was a three year captain and in his senior season led the Lions to their most wins in a season since 2006.

Kevin Hopkins is the Men’s Basketball Head Coach at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. In his 5 years with the Mules he has led the team to their two highest single season win totals in the last 20 years.

Kevin began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Amherst College from 2012-2014. In 2015 he was the coaching coordinator for the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA D League before returning to Amherst for the 2016-2017 season.

As a player at Amherst, Hopkins helped lead the program to their first National Championship in 2007 and the played professionally for two seasons in Germany before beginning his coaching career.
