Welcome to episode eight of our Hoop Heads Podcast Series called "Mentality with Dwayne Killings - Season One at UAlbany" The series will document Dwayne’s first year as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University at Albany.
We plan to record and release 2-4 episodes per month with Dwayne and/or players, coaches, administrators, media members, and others associated with the Great Danes Basketball Program to get an inside look at what being a first year head coach at the Division 1 level is all about.
Today we’re joined by Bruiser Flint, Associate to the Head Coach at the University of Kentucky. Bruiser and Dwayne first met while Bruiser was coaching at UMass and Dwayne wasattending UMass basketball camp as a kid. Dwayne eventually played for Bruiser at UMass and the two men developed a bond that continues to this day. In this conversation we dive deep into their relationship and the impact their friendship has had on their coaching careers.

Jack Owens is entering his fifth season as the Miami University Men’s Basketball Head Coach after spending the previous 9 seasons in the Big Ten at Purdue University.
Owens also spent 5 seasons as an assistant coach at Southern Illinois. Owens began his coaching career at Howard Community College, followed by one season at Barton County Community College and one season at Eastern Illinois.
Jack began his collegiate playing career at Murray State,and played a season at Howard Community College before playing two seasons at Eastern Illinois.

June 25, 2021 Scott Nagy - Wright State University Men's Basketball Head Coach - Episode 491
Scott Nagy is entering his sixth season as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Wright State University. A three-time Horizon League Coach of the Year selection, Nagy won 20-plus games his first four seasons with the Raiders and tallied 18 wins in the shortened 2020-21 campaign.
In 2020 Nagy became the 61st active NCAA head coach (28th at the Division I level) to reach the 500-win mark and has won over 100 games during his tenure at Wright State.
Prior to Wright State Nagy spent 21 seasons at South Dakota State. During thattime, he guided the school from Division II to Division I and compiled an overall record of 410-240.
Nagy began his coaching career at the University of Illinois under hall of fame coach Lou Henson where he got to coach alongside his dad, Dick, who was a longtime assistant under Henson.

June 21, 2021 John Griffin - St. Joseph's University Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach - Episode 489
John Griffin is the Men’s Basketball Associate Head Coach at St. Joseph’s University where he is responsible for coordinating the on court player development program and overseeing the team’s defense which includes drill implementation, teaching strategies, opponent scouting, game planning, and research projects. Griffin is also tasked with recruiting, game scheduling, and serves as a liaison with the department’s compliance, academics and sports performance staffs. Griffin previously spent four seasons as an assistant coachat his alma mater, Bucknell where the Bison made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
John started his collegiate coaching career on the staff at Rider, working as the director of operations until he was promoted to assistant coach, serving for two seasons from 2013 to 2015. Griffin was the Indiana Pacers’ video coordinator during the 2010-11 season, in between a three-year professional playing career in Europe following an outstanding playing career at Bucknell where he scored more than a 1,000 career points.

Liz Kay is the Girls’ Varsity Head Basketball Coach at Wahconah High School in Dalton, Massachusetts. Kay has won over 100 games in her seven years as the Warriors Head Coach. Under her leadership.
