George Jerjian is a mindset mentor to retiring Boomers, and the auther of DARE to Discover Your Purpose - Retire, Refire, Rewire.
George discusses what he describes as the caterpillar & cocoon cycle of life. The first stage of life is spent chasing awards, accomplishments, achievements, & money, as you build your little cocoon. The second stage, after the cocoon is shed, becomes the transformation into something new where you can discover yourself. The last thing you want is to be on your deathbed, realizing that you've spent your life following someone else's plans. So the way to prevent that realization is to ask yourself some important questions:
The biggest "problem" as we age seems to be that we find ourselves starting to believe the inner talk - the voice in our head that says we're old and we need to slow down, or stop doing particular activities.
We tend to let our "sandbox" get smaller as we age. If we can stop listening to that voice, and just keep DOING THINGS, life will continue to be full and may even expand.
