    Publisher's Summary:
This is the series everyone is reading. From the number-one chart-topper Peter James, comes the ninth novel in the multi-million-copy, best-selling Roy Grace series....
Some will wait a lifetime to take their revenge.... A vicious robbery at a secluded Brighton mansion leaves its elderly occupant dying. And millions of pounds' worth of valuables have been taken. Hooray
Yes! After a few not so exciting books Peter James has come through with a winner! The story was quite good and kept my interest. Sandy is back again but at least she has become a bit more interesting. I still am tired of her storyline.
There were shady characters galore. We meet new members of Grace's team and grieve with one of them. NYPD is involved again. What's with that attraction lately?
There was an opportunity for an amazing suspense scene. The anticipation was there. I'm not sure to be glad or sad.
Narration was okay but there were still few distinctions between characters. On to Book 10.
Brilliant as usual but one small annoyance
Loved this book as I do all in series. Generally well-performed but Roy Grace and Glen Branson's voices are too similar. This annoyed me when both were speaking.
    Such a web James weaves!
What did you love best about Dead Man's Time?
As Peter James continues the story of Roy Grace I am loving the intriguing past snippets that he loves to dangle in front of the reader. His missing first wife...her psychiatrist sessions leave you constantly dangling. His new fiancé and their beautiful baby Noah and their fates in this story were nail biting. The main police story is fascinating and brilliantly written allowing me to enjoy the plot till the very end.
A return to great form with an engrossing story
I was disappointed by by the author's previous book, Dead Tomorrow, but am delighted to say that the present book is the best yet. A intricately plotted detective story that never flags with just the right amount of personal details about the main players to flesh out their characters. For those who have been following the life and career of DCI Grace there is an intriguing side story about his wife Sandy who disappeared a decade earlier. The narrator is very good and does a variety of convincing accents. Recommended.
    James at his best
Where does Dead Man's Time rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
This book ranks high amongst my 'listens'. Fist of all the narration is excellent. The story is probably the best of all the Roy Grace books and it has the distinction of eliciting sympathy for one of the shadier characters. I was willing him to commit not one but two murders by the end of the book.

    Eh! Not memorable.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
3 of the characters are irritating enough to make the reader want to end this book asap. The female protagonist is a retired police chief who seems to think it's not idiotic to insist she's invincible & doesn't need assist...it would be nice if there was some wisdom evident in a woman w/her background & age. Her daughter & granddaughter are both beyond whiny. Too much family information - not interesting in the least.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
What kept me interested was the stolen art. Did it exist? Where was it hidden?
What does Carrington MacDuffie bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
    Good with voices.
Do you think The Fine Art of Murder needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No follow up. This protagonist is more frustrating than interesting.
    Any additional comments?
    Not recommended.
    editing could have been sharper
i thought this was a good story but the editing could have been sharper. Nice job by narrator.
    Great
you're 8-14. I can't remember I've graded a book so low, but this one deserves it. Think Nancy Drew. I put the performance a 2 because I can't determine if the narrator is this bad or if she's aiming to read at the 8-14 level. If she is, I give her a 3. Thank goodness I can retrieve my credit.
This book was not at all what I was expecting.
I did not like the book. The book was not poorly written I just didn't like the story.
    ok
This was an okay book. The plot dragged a bit here and there. Some of the characters were annoying. I can't say that it wasn't a good book, but. I won't say that it was bad.

    Nice cozy
Very nice, but nothing special. One you can listen to again next year because you won't remember it.
    Cosy Mystery
A slice of small town life wrapped around a murder. I would have liked to know how the body got into the snowman not just who put it there.
A pleasant story to listen to.
The narrator is who made the story come alive. The story by itself would not have been as gripping and, by itself, I would have probably put it aside. I would definitely recommend this as an audible book and will consider other books by the same author and narrator.
Too silly even for a cozy mystery
This story tries to hard to be cute. The characters were not believable and I spent to much time either rolling my eyes or skipping ahead to enjoy the book. I can't recommend this book to anyone.

David Archer goes over the cliff!
This is book 7 in the 8 book Same Prichard mystery thriller series. I have rated the prior six 5 stars. I still love the first 5 novels in the series, but I cannot recommend the three Drifter books. The Drifter novels go too far in sounding like propaganda. It stated in Book 6 but but was mild and acceptable. In this novel, Book 7, partisan politics and religious dogma become so intense as to overwhelm the story.
    Drifter
I really enjoyed this book. This series just gets better the more you read....audible is a must. The songs are beautiful
Keeping up the excellent standard for me
This has been another exciting cliff edging episode of the Sam Pritchard saga. A fascinating interpretation of prophetic scripture making a fast moving story read in an easy to listen to fashion - well done both of you.

    Enjoyable Spooky Town mystery
Another enjoyable mystery story set in the small town of Spooky. Well written and narrated, it is an easy listening, interesting tale with all the appealing, fun and quirky characters we met in the first two books. This book has our two reluctant sleuths, with a little help from spooks, trying to solve the mystery of disappearing and dying elderly neighbours.
    Ghosts Beneath Us
This, the third in the Spookie town Mysteries, was a fun book.I enjoyed re visiting the characters. There are old people being killed, houses burning down, etc. The Sherif seems to not care.He says they were old and had an accident.Ghosts are being seen, but are they good or bad? It's funny how even after seeing one,no one believes in them.Jan Kennedy was a fine narrator.I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

    Publisher's Summary:
New York Times best-selling author Carolyn Hart's ghostly gumshoe Bailey Ruth Raeburn is frequently amusing...but this is the first time she's been a muse.
When you wish upon a star, you get...Bailey Ruth? You do if you're a little girl whose mom needs help and you touch the soft heart of Supervisor Wiggins at Heaven's Department of Good Intentions. Granted it's not the usual task of an emissary, but then again Bailey Ruth is not your usual emissary. So Wiggins dispatches the spunky spirit to her old hometown of Adelaide, Oklahoma, to help a single mother and struggling writer find some creative solutions to her problems.
Deidre Davenport is just about broke, trying to support her two children, and has her hopes pinned on getting a faculty job with the Goddard College English department. Jay Knox, who is in charge of the writer's conference she's participating in, will decide who gets the job, but he's more interested in her body than her body of work.
Not long after his advances are rejected, Knox turns up dead - and Deirdre's fingerprints are found on the murder weapon. Bailey Ruth knows Deirdre is innocent and that the professor's lewd behavior is bound to have rubbed others the wrong way. Now she must find out who really knocked off Knox...if Deirdre and her family are ever going to have a happy ending.

Playing it a little too fast and loose this time.
I am a long-time fan of Carolyn G. Hart, starting with her Death on Demand series of mysteries. When the Bailey Ruth Raeburn stories began, I jumped right in. The premise is wonderful: a heavenly emissary who is sent back to Earth now and then to help someone in a pickle. Things generally go from bad to worse from there, which is great for the story line.
The series takes place in Adelaide, Oklahoma, and as the series has progressed, the Adelaide Police Department has become more aware of Bailey Ruth, and in this fifth story, they seem to be accepting of her, as well. That makes sense for the story line, and poses all kinds of story development for the future. (Bailey Ruth has even become a bit of a matchmaker!) What doesn't make sense is a police department that seems to be veering more and more away from police procedure.
In this particular story, I found myself thinking, "A police chief in charge of a murder investigation would NOT being sharing that information with the public!" And I found myself thinking it more than once. Or twice. And whether he liked it or not, a police chief would arrest a suspect as soon as he had enough evidence to make the charge stick. Bailey Ruth seems to be pushing the envelope, too ... skirting very close to telling outright lies, sharing information that wouldn't be shared with a child under the guise of a police officer, and encouraging a child to lie to a parent. Bailey Ruth isn't an angel, but I expect better behavior from a heavenly emissary!
Having said all of that, this is a cozy, not a police procedural. If you are a fan of cozy mysteries, you'll enjoy a good read/listen. Will I be back for the next installment? Of course! I began by saying I am a Carolyn Hart fan!! Do I hope for a Bailey Ruth who plays it a little closer to the heavenly precepts and uses different tactics to accomplish her mission? Yes. Yes, I do.
    Well done
    I enjoyed the book immensely.

Another great murder mystery in DC!
I think this is a great book! I've always like Margaret Truman's mysteries, and I'm so glad Donald Bain has taken up where she left off and puts out a new one every year, they're really good! This one is the best of the last 4, I could hardly put it down. Very interesting and likable characters, a suspenseful who-done-it. I will read it again over time, and I'll be looking forward to the next one!
Someone who knows and understands those who govern our country
Margaret Truman has an excellent grasp of the intricacies of politics in Washington, D,C, She depicts the dysfunctions of political parties and how personal relationships are compromised by human frailties and the overwhelming need to maintain a public image necessary for re-election. - The mystery is entertaining and fun, the history and understanding of those who run our country is something all citizens of this country can benefit from learning.
    Another great DC-based murder mystery!
Internship to Murder is another great book in the Capital Crimes series. The plot was similar to the Chandra Levy/Congressman Gary Condit affair.
I have really enjoyed the Capital Crimes series over the years. The plots are well-written, realistic and exciting. I am glad that Donald Bain is continuing this excellent series!
I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Read the book to get the whole storyâit will be worth the time!
Another DC Winner for Margaret Truman/Donald Bain
I have been reading Margaret Truman's books for several years. Donald Bain, of Murder She Wrote fame, does an excellent job of recreating MT's voice and story telling ability. Love every minute of reading the books and can't wait for another.
    Margaret Truman
Have enjoyed every single one of her books. I love her characters and plot lines. A must read for me!

    Members Reviews:
    Great Mystery
I have read every book in this series and have enjoyed them all. Leslie Meier has done a great job of letting her characters grow and develop over time (the first book was written in 1991). I love Lucy, the supporting characters and the town of Tinker's Cove. The mystery in this story is well developed and well paced. I truly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next in the series.
Sounded fun but ended up being a heavy bummer
When I first read the preview I thought this would be a lot of fun. But what was supposed to be a fun and happy read, turned out to be stilted, shallow and had heavy issues like abuse and rape tossed in. The battered women and rape thing was completely unnecessary and unrelated to the story! The author made police out to be brutal and villainous! And then the end was wrapped up in the most flippant cheesy way I've ever seen a book end.
The narrator seems to only be able to do a Latino/Russian accent and used it for English and French persons.
It could have been such a fun read but it was a serious disappointment.
Sorry but I felt like I needed to write this to warn other people to not waste their time.

    Publisher's Summary:
This harrowing mystery, winner of the Philippine National Book Award, follows two Catholic priests on the hunt through Manila for a brutal serial killer.
Payatas, a 50-acre dump northeast of Manila's Quezon City, is home to thousands of people who live off of what they can scavenge there. It is one of the poorest neighborhoods in a city whose law enforcement is already stretched thin, devoid of forensic resources, and rife with corruption. So when the eviscerated bodies of preteen boys begin to appear in the dump heaps, there is no one to seek justice on their behalf.
In the rainy summer of 1997, two Jesuit priests take the matter of protecting their flock into their own hands. Father Gus Saenz is a respected forensic anthropologist, one of the few in the Philippines, and has been tapped by the director of the National Bureau of Investigations as a backup for police efforts. Together with his protégé, Father Jerome Lucero, a psychologist, Saenz dedicates himself to tracking down the monster preying on these impoverished boys. Smaller and Smaller Circles, widely regarded as the first Filipino crime novel, is a poetic masterpiece of literary noir, a sensitive depiction of a time and place and a fascinating story about the Catholic Church and its place in its devotees' lives.
