Great story, characters and location
I downloaded the first book in this series - Last Call - because it didn't cost anything and I wanted something to read on my new Kindle. This is now the fifth Bill Travis mystery that I have read, and I have enjoyed them all. This may even be the best since that first one. It is a classic mystery in the sense that we are given a body in the first chapter, then Bill uncovers many clues and many suspects, then puts the whole matter together in the final chapter. As in all of the books, there is lots of action, plenty of plot twists, and interesting characters. I like the way Texas plays a large role in each story. Though I have never been there, it feels authentic to me. I also like that George Weir accomplishes this without being either gross or explicit. I already downloaded the next book in the series.
Sure to please!!!!
The more I read the more I fall in love with his writing. I really enjoyed seeing the list of his favorite books and
I have actually read some of them. I especially enjoy reading his own thoughts afterwards and his comments about throwing books away mirrored mine exactly. I stopped buying books ever since we were able to download them because then I could keep them and not worry about giving them away or trying to find room in my bookcase to store them. I still have my favorite hard bound books and paperbacks and will never get rid of them. I share his love of reading as well and am glad to know that he feels the same way. We need more writers like George Wier!!!!!!
Bill Travis at his best
DEATH ON THE PEDERNALES is an excellent book. Bill Travis, the reluctant hero, once again, as always, in the Bill Travis series, comes through with shining colors. Smart as a whip, and tough as nails, he is also as caring and gentle as a person can be. He is the rock, the one that can bowl you over but also the one you can lean on for comfort and support. The suspects here are many, and the action is fast. I was drawn into the creatively written plot immediately, and I read the book nearly non-stop. If you love well-written mysteries, then take my advice: this book is calling out to you. You will be hooked before you know it. You've got my word on that!
Wow!
What a pleasure to read this author for the first time! As I began this book I thought it was going to be another predictable mystery. I almost set it down. I'm glad I didn't. A few pages on all H-- broke loose, and I realized I was on a wild ride. Thanks for the adventure, Mr. Weir!
Living Love
The final chapter, as I've read previously, is a declaration of "Feeling the love of living love". Your ability to describe near esoteric moments is done skillfully
Occasionally (new thought), you perhaps have too many characters because there is a certain transition that is missing.
