Title: Can't Get Over You

Author: Shirley Jump

Narrator: Natasha Soudek

Format: Unabridged

Length: 8 hrs and 34 mins

Language: English

Release date: 11-24-16

Publisher: Audible Studios

Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Publisher's Summary:

Travel back to the loveswept world of Fortune's Island with New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Shirley Jump.

His voice pierced the darkest corners of her heart.

Waitress Jillian Matheson needs a life makeover. The first thing on her "Get it Together" to-do list is breaking up with her fiancé, Zach Gifford, a struggling rocker who refuses to grow up. With Zach on the sidelines, Jillian pursues the dream career she's secretly craved for decades and finds romance in the arms of a hot, mysterious visitor on Fortune's Island. There's just one kink in her plans. Zach's band has a regular gig at The Love Shack where she works. And she can't deny the effect of his velvet-cloaked voice, a voice that can still reach places she no longer allows his hands to touch.

She's the only song he ever wanted to sing.

Zach thought he had everything figured out - a music career on the edge of a breakthrough and a gorgeous fiancé - until Jillian left her engagement ring on his amp one night and walked out of his life. He is sure that he can get her to remember their shared passion and realize that they belong together, until a new man enters the picture and begins to sway Jillian's heart.

Is it ever too late for true love?

Just as Zach begins to break down Jillian's walls of resistance, a dark secret from his past comes to light and threatens to ruin their second chance at love. With shattered trust pushing them farther away from each other than ever before, can these two wounded hearts find their way back to each other before the last song?

3.5 STARS

While this book flowed with really good conversation and likeable characters, it just lacked depth of story and development of the two main characters for me to have given it a higher rating.

Jillian and Zach have known each other since grade school, dated for years and even got engaged, but Jillian ends the relationship because she feels second fiddle to Zach's music aspirations. She doesn't feel he is ready for a marriage commitment and shows no sign putting her and their future ahead of his desire to make it as a recording star with the rest of his band members. Zach soon discovers he has pretty much taken their relationship for granted and sets out to win Jillian back.

For the small amount of pages of this book, Shirley Jump puts together a nice tidy little package which keeps you reading and interested, but I just wish these books were longer in length to make it a really great, satisfying book.

Zach wants his Jilly Bean back

I love a good second chance romance, and especially appreciate tales of patching up or repairing a long term relationship, so I was really looking forward to this book. The thing I loved best about the first story in this series (And Then Forever) was the Love Shack itself, the people who worked there and the whole zest the place brought to the book. Sadly, this time around the Love Shack is nothing but an occasional set for the rest of the drama to unfold upon and around, and I did miss that fun side.

I also struggled a bit with the characters. On paper, Iâd be firmly on Jillianâs side with the way their relationship fell apart and the fact that Zach didnât react much for three months, butâ well, itâs not that I found Jillian unlikable, but there wasnât much to like about her either.

Titel: Romeo & Romy

Autor:: Andreas Izquierdo

Erzähler: Christoph Jablonka

Format: Unabridged

Spieldauer: 14 hrs and 57 mins

Sprache: Deutsch

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 11-17-16

Herausgeber: Audible Studios

Kategorien: Romance, Contemporary

Publisher's Summary:

Jennie Copeland thought she knew the recipe for a happy life: marriage to her university sweetheart, a nice house in the suburbs and three beautiful children. But when her husband leaves her, she is forced to find a different recipe. And she thinks she's found just what she needs: a ramshackle house on the outskirts of the beautiful Talyton St George, a new cake-baking business, a dog, a horse, chickens.... But life in the country is not quite as idyllic as she'd hoped, and Jennie can't help wondering whether neighbouring farmer Guy Barnes is the missing ingredient.

Charming novel

The Sweetest Thing by Cathy Woodman is a fun and sweet book that I really enjoyed. It has all the elements I enjoy like family drama, a little romance, and just plain old good and easy reading.

Jennieâs life is great. She has three beautiful kids and a husband she loves. All is well until her husband David tells her he is leaving her for another woman. Instead of completely wallowing in her misery she decides instead to follow a dream of her own.

She buys a ramshackle old house out on a farm in Talyton St. George and heads out there with her kids who are none too happy about it. Jennie is going to start her own business. She loves to bake cakes and she is finally going to go after that dream and open Jennieâs Cakes. The only problem is the town is set in their ways and getting a new business started may be a bit of a struggle and then of course there is her very attractive neighbor Guy. Hold it though Jennie is done with men! Or is she?

Oh the drama! Between her kids, the new farm animals, and a man Jennie doesnât know which end is up. I liked Jennie except for the fact that she let herself be walked over by her jerk of a ex-husband for too many years. Other than that though I liked how she took a risk with her life when she moved her family out to nowhere land. Then there is Guy who is the kind of man most women would be ga-ga over, including me. And the town â I loved the sound of it with farmers markets and bake sales and having to barter for things you want instead of using money. It sounded like a cute and quirky town where it would be wonderful to settle in and live.

The Sweetest Thing was a delightful novel. It was light, fun reading and it was just what I needed â to relax and just enjoy a good story!

Women can sympathize....

I have to say this book really wasn't my cup of tea, but was happy I read it.In some women's lifetime, men walk out and say the same garbage I need to find myself,I don't love you or it just happened.... really?Women are lucky we have an inner strength and we are fearless. We take care of our children and begin again. Jeannie is a strong mother determine to make her dreams come true and also take care of her 3 kids.Along the way she meet Guy her handsome neighbor. What ensues is a testament..there is love after divorce and not all men are pathetic, parasitic animals. It's a must read if your looking for something wholesome and beautiful!! Disclaimer, beware of nosey busybodies(FiFi..lol). Would recommend it to strong moms!!

Story is great, characters ... not so much

I love novels about English people moving to the country and trying to make a go of it, so the premise of this book was right up my alley.

Four Stars

Not as good as the other series i have read by this author

Couldn't put it down!

I was concerned about the warning of the book's length, but I didn't even notice. The characters are so well drawn, I really cared about them, and couldn't wait to find out what happened to them. I cried at the end, but I won't give away the ending. The actual course of the war is hard to follow because you're right in the middle of it, but I expect that's what it was like for those involved. Highly recommended. Would definitely read a sequel.
