Slow burn, sports romance with heart!
A true sports romance, but filled with so much more. This slow burn love story had heart, but there was also a great immersion into the baseball life. I liked that there was a balance and the story wasnt solely centered around either.
Luke Single Singleton was my favorite, because he wasnt your typical romance hero. There was no cockiness, no player lifestyle, no asshole alpha personality. Physically, hes shorter than most with no Adonis muscles to speak of. Hes a good ol fashion good guy. Lukes a good baseball player trying to come back from a serious injury and debilitating moment in his career that almost cost him his life. As he attempts to return, hes considered the underdog.
Lukes mother is his everything. He even puts her before his baseball career despite loving being on that field. Unfortunately, as her Alzheimers worsens, it becomes impossible for him to take care of her by himself, despite his determination. The stress of it continues to pile on, and keeps him from concentrating on the game.
Enter Roberta who he hires as his mothers caregiver. What appealed to me the most was how fluidly they built up their relationship. They took their time getting to know each other, and chose not to rush into anything despite their blaring feelings.
There are a lot of other subplots and happenings that were incorporated, but they never overwhelmed the overall story.
Going into this, I had no clue it was a spin-off.

Amish joy will make you smile
Amish Joy was a quick read that created a smile at the end. Rachel King lives alone after losing her parents. Eli and Katie are dear friends that are attentive to Rachel, especially Eli. Rachel and Katie were visiting one day when an Englisher, Mark Johnson, knocked on Rachel's door inquiring about her dad. Rachel could not believe the reason why Mark was there. Had her dad kept secrets from her and her mother? What will happen with Eli and Rachel's friendship after Eli sees Rachel with Mark at different times? A short story filled with action, surprises and love.
I rated Amish Joy 5 stars even though it would have been nice to have a longer story about these loveable characters.

They were the golden boys of fall: Stewart Mills High School's legendary championship football team. Fourteen years later they're back to relive their glory, save the team - and find themselves again.
Sam Leavitt has two goals when he returns home to Stewart Mills to fill in for Coach McDonnell: to keep the school from finding a permanent replacement while Coach gets back on his feet and to reconnect with his mother. As substitute coach for the high school football team, Sam must work hard to keep the boys on track, and that means spending time with the sexy guidance counselor he shared a hot night with months ago.
Jen Cooper knows what she's looking for, and it's not Sam - he wasn't even supposed to come back. She wants a cultured, romantic soul, not some rough-around-the-edges guy with calloused hands - and a hard, muscular body. But seeing him every day forces Jen to question what she really wants out of life. And as Sam begins to deal with his past, Jen discovers there's more to him than she imagined.

Friday Night Lights combined with Pay It Forward
I love this series by Shannon Stacey. It reminds of me Friday Night Lights combined with Pay It Forward. There are so many positive messages about life, friendship, family, and love teamed up with a sizzling romance in this sports romance category. It showcases the positive influences from the past leaving an impression. The will to pay it forward is unquestionable.
Sam Leavitt is summoned back to Stewart Mills to fill in for Coach McDonnell. For the life of him he can't figure out why the coach wants him to fill this position. Coach McDonnell remembers the troubled kid with more black marks against him turning himself around through high school football. This kid turned his bleak future around and made something of his life. Coach McDonnell believes he has the right stuff to mentor these impressionable young men. Coach McDonnell also recognizes that Sam needs to make peace with his past.
Sam's journey towards forgiveness from the past will guarantee a healthy, happy future that includes love and family. His journey will make your heart swell with joy. His influence on the teenage football players is compassionate, positive, and insightful. He understands their teenage mentality along with the quirks that hide the impressionable young man beneath the surface. He understands peer pressure, family pressure, and community pressure. He understands low self esteem and sense of rejection. He's been there, he was that boy fourteen years ago.
Over the summer he met Jen Cooper, the school guidance counselor. Jen not only understood his background but also saw what a fine, honorable man he had become. It was too bad that they only had a short encounter. With Sam being back in town, it is the opportunity for something more.
Shannon scored big with Homecoming. It had the perfect blend of small town romance and sports romance. I loved every word, every play, and every character. I highly recommend this book.
Another amazing book in this series
Another amazing book in this series! Sam and Jen had a hot night before he left back for Texas. Neither one can forget that night. Coach collapses on the field and asks his daughter to have same coach his team until he can return. Sparks fly between these two immediately.

You get to the point where you can just say it.
There was never anything special about me, except my father is rich and important. That's why it happened. It was just a normal Tuesday afternoon. I was 23 and thinking about my new designer boots. They kidnapped me for ransom. They raped me before I was rescued. My therapist says that talking about it means I'm starting to heal.
    I don't really think I am.
It's even harder to talk about Gideon. He couldn't save me when it really mattered, so he keeps trying to save me now. He refuses to give up on me, and I can't make him understand. There are some things you just can't be saved from.
Salvation is a love story that follows a difficult path of healing after sexual assault. It is a true romance, but it addresses very hard issues, including rape and attempted suicide. Please consider whether this book is for you.

    Solid 4 Stars!
I like this author when she writes as Claire Kent so I tried her as Noelle Adams. I read Listed first and it wasn't amazing (her love scenes are definitely better as CK) but it was good and there were so many feels! It wasn't light hearted at all but I enjoyed it. I had gotten the sample for Salvation and was hooked so I gave it a try. I liked Salvation better than Listed. I won't recap the synopsis but instead will share my thoughts.
    What I liked:
    1) Characterization of both h and H. The POV is exclusively first person, in Diana's head. She was a mostly normal 23 year old who spiraled out of control after a gang rape. I was deeply emotionally invested and rooting for her! Same with Gideon. Gideon wasn't as fleshed out as he would have been in third person, but I still felt connected to him. What an awesome guy! In fact...he seemed too good to be true.
    2) The realism of the aftermath of rape. This is a heavy topic and it was handled with maturity, grace, and realism. I know some reviewers felt that there was too much angst and they particularly didn't like the scene behind the club, but I thought it was all consistent with recovery: two steps forward, one step back. That scene in particular was a turning point for Diana and she was living in extremes so I don't think it could have been avoided.
    What I didn't like:
    1) First person POV! At the very least, it should have alternated between Diana and Gideon. Gideon was a saint. We don't ever get inside his head to see his doubts and fears and struggle.
    2) Characterization of every character except h and H. Diana talks about her friends, and in some scenes goes out with them, but there's only one we even know by name! We don't get anything about her dad. Gideon mentions his parents but we're offered no details. It almost felt like the story existed in a bubble, where only Diana and Gideon lived, and everyone else was outside of it, visible but not really involved. This limited characterization really detracted from what should have been a multi-dimensional story.
    3) The premise of the rape is really far-fetched. There is not nearly enough explanation to justify the motive behind Diana's rape beyond a throwaway comment connecting it to her dad's business. Also, once it's over, that's it. If her dad's business was truly so unsavory, she would have bodyguards going forward because she would always be at risk.

    Christian romance at it's best.
I want to start this off my saying that I don't usually read Christian romance. But now I may be a fan. Marry me was funny, romantic and full of small town angst. If you like clean romance or romance in general then you will like Marry me. Kristin Wallace writes a great story and I can't wait for book two.

Paris fashion, Chicago nightlife, secrets and lies.
    Welcome to the North Side.
Marcus Merritt doesn't chase women. He doesn't have to. But when the spirited and sexy blonde who left him wanting more shows up in his office looking for work, little things like the rules seem ready to be rewritten.
Amy Knight is smart, ambitious, and back home in Chicago to care for her mother. A courtesy meeting with one of the top lawyers in the city should be a boost to her career until the polished green-eyed player turns out to be the same irresistible "random" she hooked up with at a friend's wedding in Wilmington. Bonus: He's the brother of her older brother's new wife. What the hell?!
Who's chasing whom? It all depends on the day. Or the night.
    Members Reviews:
A hot stand alone in the One to Hold series!
Iâve been looking forward to this book for some time, and Tia Louise did not disappoint! Amy and Marcusâs story is a stand alone in the One To Hold Series, and it is hot and full of twists and turns! If youâve read the previous books you know that Amy is the little sister of Patrick and Stuart Knight, and Marcus is Elaineâs older brother.
Amy doesnât do relationships, she doesnât do commitment, she just does flings that donât require feelings other than friendship and some good times in bed. Marcus is also not into commitment and relationships, so when these two are pushed back in to one anotherâs lives, things definitely take a turn for both of them.
This book is a little different than the other books in the series, as itâs set in Chicago, and dealing with the ins and outs of the elite society. Amy is a part of this society, but left after high school and never looked back, because of some things that had gone down. She wasnât looking forward to being back, but wanted to be there for her mother. But Amy is thrown back into the drama of the high society, and Marcus is new to the Chicago elite, so heâs not aware of the past and why there is some tension regarding Amy.
I loved watching Marcus chase Amy even though he was adamant that he doesnât chase and Amy start to fall for Marcus, even though she swore she didnât do relationships. I donât think either one of them really realized that they were chasing or falling, but it was awesome to read.
When Amy and Marcus are together, they are HOT HOT HOT! I enjoyed seeing them peel away they layers and walls they have built up, and even though both make some stupid mistakes, I loved Amy and Marcus together. Marcus is definitely hot, dominant, but has a soft spot for Amy. Amy is stubborn, funny, guarded and strong. Together these two are amazing, and reading their story was absolutely beautiful. The chemistry between these two is so hot, it will burn up your kindle!
I truly enjoyed Amy and Marcusâs story and really hope that we get to see more of them in future installments of the One To Hold series. I hope this series goes on forever as Tia Louise has a way of telling stories that never get old and always leave me wanting more!
5 "Call me Mrs. Merritt from now on" Stars
    Loved, loved, loved this one!!
As I have said before, Mrs TL doesn't disappoint with her books. This series gets better and better with every single book. One To Chase was not the exception.

    I hate 3rd person
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Nope.. It dragged on and on. Lannie's insecurities drove me nuts
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I have no clue.. Can't finish this.. it puts me to sleep
How could the performance have been better?
First the narration shouldn't have been in 3rd person.. that made it difficult to follow the story at times and seriously irritating.. I can't stand 3rd person narration
Was For the Win worth the listening time?
    Nope..
    Any additional comments?
I would have enjoyed this story a little more had it not been in 3rd person. I would have tolerated Lannie's crazy but I just couldn't with the reading of this..

This is a sweet, romantic story of budding love.
I loved both of the main characters, and the author's tone made me care about them. One could understand and sympathize with Lucas and Natalie, and what they were going through. The fact that they both respected each other and were genuinely nice people made me like and care about them.
Seeing the Love is a beautiful love story. I enjoyed it so much that I will definitely be reading more of Sofia Grey's work!
    It's a sweet romance story
It's a sweet romance story. I didn't think the story had a really deep character story line, but it's a sweet fast romance read
A sweet story that left me smiling
This was a fun read for me. The characters were well developed and believable. I would categorize it as a sweet romance with a few warm love scenes. I really liked the way the main characters each had to come to terms with their imperfections, one nearly blind and the other scarred. The reader just can't help root for the couple and smile at the happily ever after ending.
It's not just what you see
I enjoyed reading this. I felt for both the H and the h, they both had been hurt both physically and emotionally. I was rooting for them to overcome their personal struggles. The writer makes you feel their pain and rejoice in their happiness.
    Three Stars
I haven't finished reading it but am finding it somewhat juvenile.
