LIPO QUEEN

Scintilating read--as in my SIN was I couldn't put LIPO QUEEN down and let everything go because. like Dr. Rey, I had to finish it in one sitting. To call LIPO QUEEN a "beach read" sells this marvelous novel short. Suzanne Edmonds' medical knowledge is fascinating (of course she's a surgeon in real life) for starters and her skill and adroitness in telling Rachel's story is without parallel. The book is beautifully written, words slide like satin across the page in a mix of literary skill, power and wit. Edmonds makes us smile even when we feel a little bad for doing so because Rachel's really going through it, and laugh out loud at other times. Edmonds' also choked me up (but I shan't spoil the story by telling you why). This is a must read, and I'll do it again. It's that way with fabulous art. Going through it once is so pleasurable we want to repeat the experience. Brava Suzanne Edmonds.

Lipo Queen is Unreal!

If you like the Lifetime show Unreal, you have to read Lipo Queen. Unreal is maybe more lurid and titillating. Lipo Queen more witty, smart and sometimes poignant. If you like reading one ya gotta watch the other. Or vice versa.

And another thing... How is it that this woman is a hot s#&t surgeon AND a fantastic writer??! How is it that God put all that together in one package? (I'm talkin' about the author/plastic surgeon) The story has the kind of depth that makes you want to read it again, not just to catch the nuances you might have missed the first time, but also because you can't bring yourself to say goodbye to Rachel Thomas, MD, your new BFF.

Lip Queen. . . Someone who finally gets it!!

Finally a Female Plastic Surgeon who get i!!!! Entertaining storyline with twists and surprises in her writing ,Ms. Edmonds is indeed a talented writer. Nice to see a female plastic surgeon (among the legions of males) who actually understands what women are talking about and has the vision to achieve the desired sculpting as well. Bravo!!! Men always give you what they perceive not what women perceive. Loved the romantic interests and Rachel's quirky nature and quick wit surviving in the competitive world of cosmetic surgery.

Wonderful romance in an idealic scene.

I want to go to Paradise Cove. This is touching romance of a beautiful talented dancer with low self-esteem who meets a good man that wants to pursue his dream of becoming a playwright. I love the family dynamics. I voluntarily reviewed this audio book after receiving an advanced copy.

Summer stories

Here we are with my review for Book 3 from the Paradise Cove series. I would have wanted to be the book I most enjoyed, but I am still a big fan of Book 1.

Play Right by Me is the story of Brittany, the last of the three sisters owning Paradise Cove resort. After being deceived by her boyfriend and manager, she returns home pregnant, hoping to heal her heart next to her family. She meets Ashley Jordon Chase, who books a room for a month, hoping to find inspiration to write a play. Chases kind words help her go through losing her baby and so a beautiful friendship is born. Definitely this is different than the other two stories and I couldnt wait to see if the rebellious sister would settle next to her sisters or if she will pursue her dreams elsewhere.

The relationship between our main characters starts off quite nice and normal, but when Brittany makes her intentions to sleep with him more than clear, Chase pushes her away. He is the maturity she does not yet hold. His intentions are more than honorable, while she is a wild spirit looking for a short time of fun. The image we have of her from the other two books is cleared in this last part. We are also offered an understanding of why she is or was acting like that.

To be honest, I did not like her that much. She seemed a little slutty. The guy wanted to maintain her dignity, yet she feels insulted the first time he refuses her advances. Also, I noticed the same tendency to appreciate designer clothes and good money. My entire appreciation for the way the author has built the relationship between the sisters and their mother. The constant support they always have for one another is something that should exist in any family.

The narration was quite ok, though there were moments where it felt a little overreacted. Rita Page did a great job anyway and it was nice to listen to her voice. The accent he used for Chase was also a job well done.

All in all, I think this is an ok book.

A story that will test the time of friendship...

Would you try another book from Bethany Lopez and/or Honey St. Dennis?

I have been a fan of Bethany Lopez's books for some time now and will continue to read and/or listen to anything she writes.

As for the performance by Honey St. Dennis it would depend on the story she is narrating. As my first time listening to her it was not one that I could fully get into.

What didnt you like about Honey St. Denniss performance?

I am not a fan of this narration. The flow of the story felt somewhat rush, sounded the same throughout the read, and did not give me any feels when listening to a story being told. For this particular book I had preferred reading it on my own.

I enjoyed this 4 stars book about long-term friendships and how over time things happen and people grow up and whether to see if time can truly test them. Needless to say in Gwen and Craigs storyyears have past and they both have feelings for more with one another but something is holding them back. Their story is more than just the typical breaking of their friendship if things turn bad it is that if walls are not broken down it can be driven to despair. With out revealing anything I will note that some scenes can affect the faint of heart, which in turn will either make or break the long-term friendship.

Great as a Stand-Alone or in the Series

I have listened to this book and one other in the series and was pleased to find that I didn't have to know the stories that came before or after. I have added one or two more from the series where I can get on sale, and added the remaining books to my wishlist. The characters and stories have peeked my interest and I want more.

A good read.

Great read

i enjoyed the story line, but having to wait to finish a book is not my thing. at least end the book where you know there is continuation, not to cut the story off leaving you h as aging for another two to three months is rude. you forget you've read the book.

Great story

Another cliff hanger! Is there a vol 3?

Only a couple of grammatical errors his/her and a couple of times Mira's mom was called Tara instead of Tamara.

Otherwise, it was a continuation of a short story about Reese, Laura and Mira. Will Laura and Reese marry?

FUN, ENGAGING AND AN EXCELLENT READ!

This latest book by Annette is truly a great portrait of Alaska and some of the people you might meet there. Mixed with a chance meeting and a touch of romance, the characters are engaging and are well done. The kind of people you would like to meet and call your friend. I can only regret that the story ended and the reader doesn't get to spend more time with Robin and Charlie and hope that there might be another story coming someday. I really can and do recommend this book for anyone who wants a break from dark stories and wants to read something fun and anything set it Alaska is almost a certain winner in my book.

Engaging and worth time reading

The author was able to create realistic characters, interactions and outcomes that moved the story along very enjoyably. The warmth and cleverness of the characters responses made me smile. I will definitely read whatever else this writer publishes. Thanks Annette Drake.

Finding Love in Anchorage

A fun little romp. When Charlie finds himself stranded in Anchorage with Robin,a woman in a difficult situation, he coaxes her into a fun day of playing tourist. During their time together, a tenuous bond is formed. As an Anchorage resident, I enjoyed visiting all the familiar places in the story and can vouch for their accuracy. A very nice little romance.

I fell in love with Charlie after the first chapter

I fell in love with Charlie after the first chapter. What a delightful read. I would recommend it to everyone. It is one of those books that makes you smile and feel good when you complete it.

Fun read with strong Alaskan woman

Loved this story. Didn't care for the end...Wish Robin and Charlie's story was continued in another book. This is the first book by Annette Drake that I've read. Enjoyed her writing style and plan to read more by her.

What a great book!

Kristin Wallaceâs books never fail to touch the heart, and this one is no exception. This amazing story is filled with unforgettable characters and the complex family relationships are delicately handled. I truly enjoyed this book.

Easy reading

Can't wait for the next book. Easy reading. Kept you interested. A page Turner. I love the characters.

Confused until I read Authors note at end of book.

This book appeared to be a carbon copy of "Left Turn at Paradise" It did have a few extra things about Beth, but with reading both stories back to back it was like I was reading the same book all over again.

Kristin has done it again. Made me put aside everything but her book and not stop till I finished it. Kristin is a very talented story teller keeping you spellbound until the end. I can't wait for next book.

I was given this book for an honest review.

Heartwarming story of two people hiding away with their pain who find relief in one another. The plot is simple. The execution was beautiful with the how's and why's. This has no bad boy and no angst but a lot of emotion and healing with a HEA ending.

I prefer true grit in my romance listens but this is, undeniably, a good romance.

Has both my thumbs angling up!

Beautiful romance

A beautiful romance about overcoming grief and the past. The characters felt authentic and real. The story is well executed. Very sweet and heartwarming listen.

The narrator did a decent job however she was somewhat monotone at times.

Great Story

I got this from audiobook boom. This was a very good story. Two wounded people both, trying to hide from their grief by escaping to an isolated place. But God has something else in store for them. a love that will heal their wounds and make them stronger. They meet as strangers who are brought together due to the sickness of one of them and the other must conquer the fear of a hospital to save the sick one. This story has sex but not too much that it ruins the story. The narration carried the story forward.

Good story; needed more emotion from the narrator

This was a good story and a decent listen but I wanted more emotion from the narrator. She had a pleasant voice but there were a few story pivots that needed more emotion than the narrator provided.

I don't give story plots away but at one point, Ian's Mom held Ally and said "Oh sweetheart, welcome back." It was the acknowledgement that Ally's emotional journey was over. It was a tender moment and even reflected back on the book title but was delivered with no emotion.

I liked the story. I even liked the narrator. I just wanted more.

This was an emotional story of two people trying to survive to losses in their lives and the demons that keep them Locked in darkness. The narrator was good I enjoyed listening to this story.
