not as good as the 1st. the last 1/3 of the book i found enjoyable, the 1st 2/3 terrible, and chuck mattis down right insufferable . i hope the 3rd book will be better, though i may never know, it was really tough staying with this book. also, the narrator has a voice of Nyquil- he will put you to sleep.

Enjoyable Norton Adventure

I read this book when I was about fourteen, over fifty years ago. I remember my English teacher chastising me for reading cheap literature, rather than something worthwhile. Do English teachers not realize that if you read Norton at age fourteen, you might be reading Tolstoy when your 25? I made that transition anyway. I am now a teacher (science, not English) and I would never discourage anyone from reading what they enjoy reading. There is no reason for adults to read this book other than nostalgia, but it's still worth reading for youngsters.

Will always love Norton.

Andre Norton's books are always pure magic. This has always been one of my favorite stories. The importance of always trying no matter what.

Very Good Story

This is a very enjoyable classic type science fiction story about a young loser/nobody who survives an alien attack.

Awesome! Vintage Norton.

This story was full of surprising turns. Not the usual alien menace story, but something much more sophisticated. Imagined contact with two alien groups of vastly different cultures. Well done!

Great Audio SciFi Mystery !

This is a great adventure from the imagination of Jack Castle! Many historic and mythical theories are masterfully woven together in this sci-fi action mystery that transcends time and space. So much drama unfolds that listening to the audio version is as fun as an old style radio program. The story shifts from the mysterious disappearance of a 1940s pilot to 200 years in the future and the crew trying to piece together the puzzle of what happened to him. You will never believe what they encounter! I would definitely recommend listening to this book on audio! So much fun!

Great Concept Poorly Realized

Save your money or credit. This one is not worth either. The story is a chopped up mess and the characters are really two dimensional and not very likeable. The cast harks back to the painfully hokey (by today's standards) of the old SciFi movies in which we have a learned scientist, a "happy go lucky idiot" and a foil. It really didn't work well then and doesn't work here at all. Add to this that the author is apparently ignorant about aircraft. The flying boat sent to rescue the five lost flyers is given as a "PBY"(produced by Consolidated) when in fact the aircraft was a Marlin, (produced by Martin). And, according to the author the plane had big loading doors in the rear, (perhaps confusing it with a C-130). Couldn't stand to finish it.

velocity only in the rushed production

Vance had to patch up a his narration in many, many places. That must happen all the time, but why are each of these patches so badly done? Seems like they just rushed this one out, maybe because the story is so lackluster. I was hoping this book would be much better after the disappointing first book, but it disappointed even further. And is the whole thing just a setup for another trilogy? If so, everybody involved, please take your time and come up with a better story and a better production.

Great ending to the Dire Earth cycle! Boughs writing and Vances narration are a great blend

An amazing story but. . .

But I'm not sure the average reader will get past the first half of the book. The beginning flips back and forth with numerous side stories and no hint as to how to connect them all. I listened thirty minutes and started over but I was still lost.

I stuck with it because I am a Christian and love technology and science fiction in general and they were all here and more but so much of the content should be removed. The reader needs to immerse their self in the story, visualize the occurrences and make connections with the characters on an emotional basis, or that's what I want but didn't have a chance to do. Many of the sections were wordy and drawn out.

The publisher's summary did not convey what this book was about but I'm glad I stuck with it until the end. The story is incredible so that's why I gave it four stars but it was challenging to get through. I would like to read more from this author's fabulous mind if he gets another editor.

This is a highly imaginative and {in my extensive experience with science fiction} a unique story. Jason Faris has wrapped several plot threads together to present scientific and philosophical ideas in a manner youve not seen before. These include applications of artificial intelligence, cybernetics, nano machines, quantum effects, religion, and even a little space travel. The advertizing blurb discusses only one of these threads.

this 2nd book was even better than the first! I love a the additional characters and the author did a bang up job with the interactions and dialogue. I loved the character Trent as well as the slang!

Surprised

Very entertaining. Would like to see this series continue and characters play out new lives.

Second Book Is Even Better

Story: The same characters are back from the first book and some new ones were introduced. Non stop action. The kids are great and despite their off the wallness, are pretty on target for kids. Our heroes from Book 1 (Millicent, Ryker, and Trent plus Marie) return to Earth to stop the ongoing destruction. Once there, it is non-stop action from multiple view points. Trent is a delight. Danissa a wonderful surprise as she is softer than her sister. All in all, I couldn't stop listening which was hard when I had to put it down to concentrate on work.

Performance: Angela Dawe was magnificent as usual. Her voice and voice characters only moved the story along and yet let you know who was talking and just the right inflection.

5 Stars - this isn't GREAT literature, but it deserves 5 stars because 1) kept me riveted and 2) will be one that I will listen to more than once and 3) the story is logical within it's given universe (doesn't jolt you out with WTF).

Favorite!!

I am a avid all things written by KF Breene, but I have to say this fantastic 2 book series is my new favorite!!! Fantastic world & character building, a wonderful & stressful adventure!!

A thoroughly enjoyable technothriller

Agent G: Infiltrator is a fast-paced technothriller about a futuristic assassin appropriately named "G". G's job is to kill people for money. He has to do it for 10 years and they will give him his memory back. I can tell you one thing, this is way more than a story about a sci-fi assassin.

My honest "blurb" explanation of this book is Jason Bourne meets Hitman with a little bit of an overarching feeling of Memento. And to be honest, I'm proud of that explanation. There are parts of this book that felt like they were pulling from the Bourne books and movies while other parts felt like they were expanded on from the Hitman video games (I never saw the movie).

C.T. Phipps can write. Wow, can he write. He was able to make me laugh one second and be completely engulfed in another theory the next. G was easily one of the most memorable characters I've read in a long time. He had an attitude that I can relate to and every time he was snarky or said something smart I had a good chuckle. A lot of books like this can be so serious throughout making them feel longer than they are, but the comedic breaks throughout this really made the pages and hours fly by.

Tie that with the incredible narration by narrating phenom Jeffrey Kafer and you have a hit. Kafer was perfect for this book. I listen to a lot of books and this was easily one of the best fits I've heard in quite some time.

Every time I thought I had this book figured out I was wrong and it threw me for another loop. There were a few times that I thought I'd figured the ending out -- nope! Not even close, nice try Brian.

Overall, Agent G: Infiltrator was an incredibly enjoyable technothriller sci-fi assassin book that was fun. You can't say a lot of books are fun... but I enjoyed the heck out of it. If you enjoy conspiracy theories, the singularity, cyborgs, and good old clean assassin fun -- Agent G: Infiltrator is definitely for you.

I'd give this 6 stars if I could!

When I heard this was coming out, I checked the blurb, being a big fan of this author. I got super excited about the premise, and couldnt wait to get it. Well, I got a copy and listened to it in one sitting. It blew me away, it was that good.

The story revolves around Agent G, an assassin who works for the Society, a charity front that arranges high tech assasinations for large sums of money. If you have the money, they have the assassin for you! Assasins, named A to Z, are mindwiped, and are told they will be well paid and get their memories back after 10 years of service to the Society. This is the scenario G finds himself in.
