Throughout history, the United States Vice President has often played a pretty insignificant role, but the power of the VP grew in the 20th century, culminating with Dick Cheney. Lately, VPs have once again felt rather insignificant, but with Trump's latest announcement of his VP pick in JD Vance, someone who has said he would have done what Mike Pence wouldn't on January 6th, who touts much of the same talking points as Project 2025, and who is seen by many as the next generation to carry the MAGA legacy, the question is warranted: how much power does the Vice President even have?
