How the Silver Tsunami will affect housing?
The housing market much like other industries is going to be smacked by a generational wave of people moving out that will have a massive ripple effect on the industry as well as many others.
It’s called the Silver Tsunami.
What is it?
Well it’s the baby boomers hitting the retirement age and also passing away.
Why does it matter?
There are 76.4 million boomers in the United States.
33.9% of people over the age of 60 own homes.
In the next 20 years it is expected that 27.4% of all homes hitting the market will be from this group.
It is expected that the silver tsunami will shed 20 million homes by the year 2030.
We discuss the reason why many of these homes should have hit the market sooner but didn’t.
