    Publisher's Summary:
Nancy de Freitas is the glue that holds her family together. Caught between her ageing, ailing mother, Frances, and her struggling daughter, Louise, a frequent user of Nancy's babysitting services, it seems Nancy's fate is to quietly go on shouldering the burden of responsibility for all four generations. Her divorce four years ago put paid to any thoughts of a partner to share her later years with. Now it looks like her family is all she has.
Then she meets Jim. Smoker, drinker, unsuccessful country singer and wearer of cowboy boots, he should be completely unsuited to the very together Nancy. And yet there is a real spark. But Nancy's family don't trust Jim one bit. They're convinced he'll break her heart, maybe run off with her money - he certainly distracts her from her family responsibilities. Can she be brave enough to follow her heart? Or will she remain glued to her family's side and walk away from one last chance for love?

    Disappointing
Both the story and the performance were disappointing. Solutions to the problems were sudden and lacked logic. Some big lasting problems were solved in a few sentences; very unbelievable.
As for the narrator: The slow speed she used for the male voices, made them sound slightly retarded.
    Only one narrator
It may have been slightly better to have a male voice as well. Although Maggie Nash did a great job it, the story involved a lot of males and it did detract from my enjoyment as Ms Nash's gravel tones sometimes didn't quite hit the mark. Great book though
    Spoilt by narration
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The time was well spent regarding the story by Hilary Boyd but it was almost totally spoilt by the narrator. The voices were totally unbelievable and made all the characters sound male, croaky and old. Shame as I love all her books.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The relationship between Nancy and Jim.
What about Maggie Mashs performance did you like?
I didn't like any of it!

    Publisher's Summary:
Allen Harris is a pillar of the community, a married lawyer of spotless reputation who is asked to assume the presidency of a conservative university after its last president has been fired for engaging in a sexual affair with a student. He is to be vetted by the Board of Directors, who want to be certain that there is nothing in Harris' past that will cause another scandal that has badly damaged the image of the institution. He asserts to the board that his married life is without blemish and he has never engaged in adulterous or clandestine affairs. His assertion is an outright lie since he, cunningly and secretly, engaged in a series of sexual liaisons in other cities in the course of his practice.
To assure that these relationships remain secret, he decides to surreptitiously set about finding these former lovers to be certain that they will not reveal his double life and spoil his chances for the presidency. Of the four women with whom he had entered into these relationships he finds three, but cannot find the fourth. What he discovers is the startling truth about these affairs, and a bizarre twist of fate that reveals what happened to his fourth mistress.

    Very Entertaining
What made the experience of listening to The Womanizer the most enjoyable?
The reading is very good without being over dramatized.
    Which scene was your favorite?
    All the scenes with Rebecca.
    Any additional comments?
    This book has excellent pacing.
    Just didn't like it.
The narration of this book was a total distraction. I kept wondering what the hurry was. I finally changed the speed on my ipod to slow. Still felt like I had to run to catch up. On and on and on at fast speed of delivery. Also, I didn't finish the book. Between the rapid delivery and the continuous apparent explanations of why adultery is okay but it can be a problem if you get caught I just quit listening.

    Soldiers triumph over adversity.
Peggy outdid herself in this book. "Hermit's Cove" covered a soldier's sacrifice and triumph over adversity. All the characters in this well-developed story were interesting and had just enough supporting parts to make the book a page-turner. This book combined adventure, love, mystery and triumph in just the right segments.

    Rollicking good read
Enjoyed this a lot. It was an engaging story although rather obvious, none the worse for that. I listened while I cleared out the garage and hardly noticed how hard I was working. Loved the narration, Jonathan Kernel made all the characters come to life and contributed significantly to my enjoyment.
    Gripping!
    Any additional comments?
This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed it very much. It's a little different, well written and really quite exciting. The narration was very good too.

"A tense, fast-paced psychological thriller." (The Times)

    Dark, twisted, and alluring
I wrote this review while playing Nancy Sinatra's "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)." There are reasons why that's appropriate, but that might delve into spoilerific territory, so I digress.
Forewarning: this will be a long review, possibly one breaking the character limit. That might be surprising considering I'm giving this (close to) 5-stars. In the aftermath of reading this, I will definitely be reading more of Megan Abbott's work. No question.
Short version of this review: I freaking loved this book. Problematic as all heck - I realize - but that was a ride I would want to ride again, over and over. Willingly.
The long version of this review gets a bit more complicated because I'll acknowledge this book has significant caveats and (notably) won't strike everyone the same way. It is entirely a love it or hate it read, and it's problematic to say the least (understatement). I understand why, and I'd understand anyone's hesitation to pick it up. I should also mention that while this features a teen protagonist, this is very much an adult book. (I definitely think there are teens who would appreciate this read for what it offers. Considering the content, though, it's a hard bargain. Discretion advised.)
I'd honestly say this is one to give a try at the very least because...dude. Let's have a conversation.
"Dare Me" was yet another library recommended read that I randomly picked up in the context of recs made in the scheme of "Gone Girl." As you guys know, I take comparison reads very lightly. More often than not, they're not always accurate and can set up unrealistic expectations. In the aftermath of reading this, I somewhat see why the rec came about. For one, it's a very dark read - the tension in "Dare Me" is so thick wading through it, you find yourself lost in its pull of the trainwreck variety. I could not stop reading this book once I started. Even putting it down, I wanted to pick it back up again because I had no idea where the heck it was going. It has more than its fair share of twists and turns.
Another similarity: the characters are supremely unlikable. I didn't like a single character in this book, not even the protagonist Addy (who arguably has some sympathetic qualities, she's quite the anti-hero).

Having been gone for years, she thought she had shed the small town and the insecure girl that she once was. However, returning home opens up all of the old wounds she thought she had mended and brings back her panic attacks and inability to deal with her overbearing sisters. The only thing that seems to pacify her anxiety is Cody Baker. Cody has a way of making her feel calm when she needs it the most. Opening up to this stranger she meets on a train, Jasmine lets him in when the walls she has so carefully constructed start to crumble from grief. It may appear that Jasmine is the only one in need, but as most things go, appearances can be deceiving. Perhaps she is not the one who truly needs salvation.

Ashes back to Stardust and Love can set you Free
Rue Volley managed to once again bring my emotions out with her work. Stardust was hard for me to read, because I could relate to how Jasmine felt. Loosing a parent unexpectedly is one of the hardest things in life. But she was so lucky to find Cody on the train and become friends. I didn't have siblings, like Jasmine did to contend with at home, but if I did, I would want Cody by my side. Charlie, when I reached the part of the train coming, I couldn't read on, I was crying to much. I knew what was going to happen and I love animals so much, but the bridge is where all is lost is returned to Stardust. But all in all, Jasmine is a very special girl, with a special love for Cody and her ex Jess. And because of that love, she was able to set them free. No one else could. So because of all this, Jazz has become stronger and has decided to move back home and has the same encounter on the train once again going home. Is he Cody, or some one else?
This is a very emotional story, that has surprise after surprise in it. It has touched my heart in many ways and made me miss my childhood and my parents. For a short story it is very powerful!
Stardust is a fantabulous read that blew me away!

OMGosh! I LOVE IT!! This is a complete turn around for this author. Stardust hit home in a lot of ways for me, from the emotional loss of a loved one to the obstacles one is faced with during life. The unexpected twists and suspenseful turns flowed smoothly making it a clean, clear, and easy to follow read. It is well written and the presentation from the cover to the interior formatting is deliciously devine. The world building is consistent, full of emotions and provokes thought.
"Stardust is a fantabulous read that blew me away. Rue Volley is growing as a writer and I am Loving the fact that I can sit back and watch it happen. GO RUE!!"

    Amazing <3
I have been looking forward to this book for sometime and new it would be great with Rue's creative writing. I will say this is the first book of hers that brought me to tears. I purchased this book about 2 hours ago so I will say I could not put it down once I started. This was such a change from the previous books but amazing. I hope so see more books by Rue written in this genre she did an awesome job.
This is a great story with a little romance and new beginnings.
