Great storyline.....but

I really enjoyed the storyline and this could be the start of a great series. Having said that, I have to admit that I was eager for it to end. It was just too wordy. It seemed that the author used every obscure adjective available that could or would describe any given thing or situation. I found myself becoming irritated at sentences that were twice as long as they needed to be. I'm no english major, but I do know that sometimes less is better. I was also confused by the use of both American and British slang. It was difficult to decide where the story took place. The characters are well thought out and there is a lot of depth to them. Lots of room to develop backstories and it leaves you wanting to know what happens next. Watson Heintz does a wonderful job on the narration. She is truly talented. Looking forward to a second book. I may go for a print version if it has as many extra words as this one. You can't skim over an audiobook.

Surprizingly fun

Surprisingly fun

This was the first book I read of from this author and I enjoyed it very much. First I was a bit confused about the world setting but that got cleared up pretty quickly. Like most of the urban fantasy novels the heroin Lillie is tough and has loads of trouble coming after her. The difference from other books is that even though the heroin has an extraordinary strong necromancer-like talent, she feels like an ordinary person. She isnt too tough, sexy, and an expert in fighting with swords, but tries her best to ride the tides of trouble that comes her way. I could sympathize with that. Also, at least for the first book the problems are not Apocalyptic, as of yet and the problems are based on lust and greed the basic human kind. However, the bigger mystery lies in why there are more paranormal activities happening in the world, thus there is room for more stories! I would also like to know what would happen between Lillie and the federal detective Thresher. I think it is a great start for a new series and there certainly is a great potential.

Oh, one thing that annoyed and confused me was how Lillie switched how she called detective Thresher/Johnny at the beginning, until I got used to it.

I can't wait for the next book!

I loved the characters! I actually thought the narrator was a female, I didn't realize that the narrator was a male until I started this review.

Hard to say. I liked the story but found it difficult to get into. nothing stands out

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator sounded robotic. At first i thought it was because i downloaded it over a bad data connection but re-downloaded over wifi and had the same issue. There are odd pauses and it seemed like emphasis was being put on the wrong words in each sentence. This made it difficult for me to get into the story and pay attention.

Could you see Seven Seeds of Summer being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

i think it'd make for a nice young adult film

Eternal love rules!

Wicked Sinners by Charity Parkerson is a second book in the Sinners series. And it's a very nice standalone book. Since I haven't read the first book, I have no idea what it is about but this one was perfectly good without following the series from the very beginning.

I very much liked the whole soulmates idea and how druids could connect their souls to each other. My heart broke for all the heroes! And I'm really glad that Adriana experienced happiness with Julien and the triangle with Alain turned out to be very nice :) The side story of Jacques and his soulmate is very sweat as well.

There are books that aren't good when listened to, but this one was excellent. So I guess it is fast paced (since I didn't want to rewind my player all the time) and it has a nice story arcs and relate-able characters. The way Adriana changed throughout the book made it very interesting to follow the story. And quite a lot this book made me cry in a good way.

Lil' paranormal stuff, whiny heroine, mild romance

This is a paranormal tale of druid gods, oracles, vampires, peripherally, and the interaction of souls. Some other paranormal beings are referenced too. The book idea was okay, but the book fell flat in its execution for me. There was little focus on the abilities of the paranormal. What was shown was the ability to heal, to be immortal, to blink from one place to another, to move items with the mind, and, for the goddess, to foretell the future somewhat. That was about it, with little exception. It was nice that the H was attracted to the h b/c of her inner beauty as much as anything. Thats so rare in romances, especially, where the physical aspects tend to reign. On the other hand, the book excerpts from The Book of the Unknown couldve been omitted. They were weak and so clearly made up historical statements. They were so weak that it was hard to believe that they wouldve ever been treated by anyone as sources of wisdom or direction. They seem to be exemplify the author trying too hard to make the story something that it wasnt, and it only detracted from the story. Too, there were times when the dialogue seemed too youthful, immature. And a couple of times the phrasing was strange, like it was written by a person first learning English. I also didnt like that all of the sex scenes were essentially the same. The author showed no true interest in or knowledge of sex in them. They were short and not explicit nor memorable in any way. The author used words of desire, but I wasnt convinced. There was no follow through after the words and expressions. The plot twists near the end was good, though it also had an unspoken and weird implication. Still it didnt make up for the rest of the lack I experienced in the book, but it was an admirable addition.
