Delightful time travel romance
Jesse Randall and Amanda Levesque are from two different centuries. While they both live in Rhode Island, know many of the same streets and buildings, their paths would have never crossed if it hadn't been for a mural painted by Jesse's good friend. This mural (4-dimensional, as the book description explains) is a portal through time, landing Jesse solidly in the past.
Jesse quickly determines he's in the same place...but the wrong time (I like this so much better than the "what has happened" dragging on and on). Amanda is the first person he meets who isn't put off and frightened by his most unusual clothing and words.
The story takes intriguing twists and turns, never going quite where I expected it to, but every single event was skillfully foreshadowed such that it made sense when it did occur.
PERHAPS ANOTHER TIME by Maggie Maloney runs about 245 pages (minus front- and end-matter). While there's plenty of conflict, challenges, heavy problems to face and weighty choices to make, the book also has a lighthearted and fun feel to it. The text is cleanly edited (with very few typos or grammatical errors) and the plot is solid. Only in a place or two did I have a moment's thought of "hey, that doesn't match." Sometimes descriptions were really quite odd..."drop head between shoulder blades"...huh? Another-- Sal intentionally packs food for his journey, but then asks Jesse for a meal. Hmmmm. But errors were so minor it didn't detract from the enjoyment of a very well written tale.
I LOVED that these two-- whose romance is so rewarding a read-- who would *never* be so happy with anyone else-- found each other through the paranormal glitch that brought them together. I WANTED to see them succeed! Intriguing secondary characters increased the suspense in all the right places. This book's epilogue is quite possibly the most rewarding, captivating epilogue I've EVER had the privilege to read.
The cover is a nice representation of the story...the old mill where so much of the connection between 1979 and 2014 occur... and the differences in clothing styles. But one catch-- Jesse has dark blond hair. This model just doesn't look like the fabulous hero described in the book.
Sensual Level: spicy

Highly recommended to fans of time travel, lightly paranormal romance, Victorian-era romance, contemporary romance-- this novel fits the bill!
A good time travel romance
The trick to a good time travel is to move one through time without the reader going NO. The book does it very well. Not magic or science but art.
