A big part of bringing in new opportunity into your life is being able to communicate effectively. In this Tactical Tuesday episode John David and Dr. Hall talk to Jason Krantz about the skills you need to cultivate to land your ideal analytics job. Jason makes the argument that hard skills, while important, are no longer as much as a differentiator on the job market. Analytics hard skills are becoming more commoditized as new tools are being put out on the market place. It is much harder to develop business knowledge or acumen which he believes is the true skill that will help you stand out during an interview.

In this podcast episode John David talks with Sharron Vogler about how to build a targeted resume. Sharron is the Associate Director at Wake Forest University and has helped hundreds of students land their first job. She talks about building a resume and how to do keyword research to get your resume past the applicant tracking system. 

Sharron also reviews Cristina's resume which got her into the Wake Forest University Masters of Analytics program. Apparently, Cristina's resume was a "slam dunk" and one of the best resumes that she's seen. 

We also review Zane Smith's resume for his first analytics job. Before the podcast Zane also found his ideal first analytics job and Sharron ran his resume through jobscan.com to get a detailed analysis on how well his resume matches with his ideal job posting.

In this podcast episode Albert Bellamy talks to my Greensboro College students about LinkedIn. Over the past 4 months Al has seen some massive growth on LinkedIn and established his own personal brand as an aspiring analyst. He has even taken over the LinkedIn page for the "How to Get an Analytics" channel and within a little bit over a month grown the company page by 4x.

Albert breaks down how to create engaging content on LinkedIn, how to build out an effective LinkedIn profile and also talks about the LinkedIn algorithm. An interesting insight he touched on too is how LinkedIn is a "content poor" social media platform. This means that not many people are posting regularly at the moment. This is a great opportunity for you to fill the void and make a big bang on the platform if you start creating well written and thoughtful content.
