In this video John David talks to Cristina about her experience in his "Case Studies in Business Analytics Class" at Greensboro College. In the student practicum section of the class they studied real Youtube data to build out a target audience for a advertising campaign. Then the students dug deeper into the data to uncover insights about the psychology of the viewers of this channel. Once they identified the target audience, chose an angle to pitch potential subscribers they then wrote the first draft of the subscriber advertisement. This lead to a very successful ad campaign for the channel!

In this video I talk through my experience hiring someone on Upwork to subcontract an analytics project. This project involved analyzing margin data in Tableau. Upwork is a platform where analytics and data science freelancers can find consulting engagements. This was my first time hiring someone via Upwork and things went off without a hitch.

In this video I break down the three main ways I find new consulting clients for my analytics consulting agency Silvertone Analytics. Getting your first analytics client is going to be a major challenge... but don't worry! Once you get your first analytics consulting client under your belt, it's much easier to land your next client. 

I've been consulting in the analytics space for about 4 years now and have had a lot of experience pitching new clients. I actually have a handful of clients who have hired me for multiple projects. Before you get to this point though, you need to build up your experience as a consultant which is very different from working as a full time employee. In this "How to Get an Analytics Job" podcast episode John David interviews Gilbert Eijkelenboom who is the founder of Mindspeaking, an organization that focuses on soft skills for data scientists. He also wrote a book called "Communication Skills for Analytical Thinkers" which focuses on communicating insights from data. Soft skills are extremely important for both data scientists and analysts. If you get your soft skills nailed down, this can really help you perform well in your next interview.

In this video I talk through my experience starting my consulting agency and how I price my projects for clients. I started off charging way too little for my analytics consulting services. I then went through a phase where I increased my price and now have started charging a monthly retainer instead of billing hourly.
