Border Love - a must read
Alice Wootson writes a compelling page turner in Border Love. The two main characters, Brooke and Darien, are Border Patrol Agents in Brownsville, Texas. They each come from other assignments and want to do a good job regardless of being haunted by their past.
The two are assigned as partners and on their first day together, their headquarters is rocked by a bomb. There are other incidents down the border and several agents are killed and others as well as civilians are injured. The agency fears there's more involved than illegal crossings, maybe drugs and even terrorists.
Darien and Brooke must train new officers from the academy due to the shorthanded staff, but one good thing comes of it when they can develop a relationship, something that couldn't happen if they were partners.
Brooke's new partner makes a rookie mistake and gets himself shot and Brooke disappears. Who has her and will Dairen every find his newly found love? It's all in God's hands.
Ms. Wootson reveals the everyday perils of border agents and how they lay their lives on the line for their job. The love story is sweet and the trust built between the couple is strengthened by the tragedies they face

Setting the scene in Brownsville, Texas, along the Mexican border, the author encompasses the hazards of patrolling the border and the misfortunes of the illegal immigrants who venture across. We follow patrol agents, Brooke and Darien, when they encounter terror, a car chase, and drug gangs. We root for them as we see their love enfolding and the events throwing them into jeopardy. I highly recommend this timely book. It is beautifully written and entertaining.
My kind of book
I loved the combined love story and adventure tale contained in this book. The intertwined plots were interesting and realistic. Brooke and Darien developed a partnership, then a friendship, and then the romance flowed naturally. Brooke had to use her own wits and strength to overcome the evil that threatens her, although Darien's assistance qualifies him as a knight in shining armor. Fun read - I recommend it!
I loved it as I do all of her books
I loved it as I do all of her books. It was intriguing and kept me going until the end. It is always refreshing to have this ki d of romance novel that keeps you interested from beginning to end on such a current topic as well. Love reigns.

Very enjoyable read. Even though it is fiction, I gained some insight into the work of the Border Patrol.
