Narrator was really good and told the story well. The plot was a little weaker than I'd expected but still very good and kept be coming back for more.

Duckworth and Weaver Return in Yet Another Promise Falls Based Novel

Marketed as book four in the Promise Falls series (which makes little sense as previously the series was called a trilogy and also there are way more than three other books set in Promise Falls with the exact same reoccurring main characters). Final Assignment, Too Close to Home, Never Look Away, Broken Promise, Far From True are five examples that aren't officially part of the trilogy now four book series set in Promise Falls whose plot outcomes are mentioned in those books by characters. This one works a little better than the former trilogy books though in that it concentrates on just two characters for the most part. Detective Duckworth and Cal Weaver have parallel occurring storylines. Duckworth has a guy come into his office who claims he was abducted by aliens and can't remember the last four days, and unbeknownst to him has a message tattooed on his back. Weaver has been hired by a rich family to be a personal security guard for "The Big Baby". A teen who got off going to jail for running over a teenage girl in a stolen Porsche because his defence team successfully argued he had been too pampered in life by his mother to know what he was doing was wrong. Understandably the general public isn't happy about this and he's been hidden in Promise Falls to try and avoid the hate groups. Only he's too stupid to not give away where he is. His mother and other relatives aren't much brighter.

I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in this series. I have enjoyed Jayne Ann krentz books for many years and she has entertained me over the years . When I need my mood lifted I still listen to some other earlier funny books and they cheer me up .

Couldn't stop listening

Thoroughly enjoyed l love all the books by Nicci French and the narrator is Superb

Cop Out

I love this series and listened to them all in order. Great plots and narration. I realise the titles have been successively days of the week- this one being the last day of one week. If this IS the final one - which I hope it isn't - then the ending is a cop out and Nikki French have not done a good end. They've fudged it. Or maybe they couldn't agree???!!!! I hope this is NOT the last we'll hear of Frida Klein.

Hmmmm

The story is solid. However the screeching performance of the Olivia character is truly intolerable. I had to skip through whole chapters of that endless screeching.

An old favourite

I loved this story. Much improved from the previous story. Also feel a new chapter may be possible. Heres hoping. The narrator is excellent and the suspense around DR continues.

AMAZING!

From the very beginning, this story took my breath away. I couldn't believe how immersed in it I'd become. This painful & very scary story was worth the thought provoking reactions it produced in me. I have often thought about the circle of evil passed down from one families generation to another. I've lived with it, so it was very close to home for me. Abuse, committed by a "loved one", "step-parent" or a "neglectful parent" should always be prevented, unfortunately it does not. I was actually rooting for the "Ghost" in this tale. I'd like to read more from this author. He or she has a knack for capturing the right kind of vengeance & justice that some victims want or need. I loved this story. The ending was superb.
