    Format: Unabridged
Length: 14 hrs and 38 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-01-17
    Publisher: Brilliance Audio
Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 90 votes
    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
In Adam Burch's thrilling series debut, a young man must choose between violence and peace in a distant world divided between those who thrive in endless sunlight and those who survive in eternal darkness.
The isolated planet of Tao is a house divided: the peaceful Daysiders live in harmony while the pale Nightsiders pursue power and racial purity through the violent ritual of the Combat.
Edmon Leontes, the gentle son of a ruthless warrior noble and a proud Daysider, embodies Tao's split nature. The product of diametrically opposed races, Edmon hopes to live a quiet life pursuing the music of his mother's people, but his Nightsider father cruelly forces him to continue in his bloody footsteps to ensure his legacy.
Edmon's defiance will cost him everything...and spark a revolution that will shake the foundations of Tao. His choice - to embrace the light or surrender to the darkness - will shape his own fate and that of his divided world.

    very impelling
on the whole I really enjoyed the book but would like to have had little different ending
This author should hire a professional narrator.
For me the Narrator did such a bad job when his characters laughed or coughed it nearly ruined the mood the book had created.
Unimaginative Simplistic and just plain bad
The narration is at best tolerable. the story had anachronisms that I just can't abide, such as an amputee Inc a culture of star farers and the use of rockets.
I had only the authors word for it that this story took place in the future as there are no cultural dynamics that suggest anything other than the past and present.
Edmon takes a licking, but keeps on ticking.
Good book. It was easy to visualize characters. Hope there are more books in series.
Space Balls meets The Three Stooges meets Dune
Here we follow a character who is completely unprepared for the life he's forced into because of choices/actions of his parents. As the story progresses it's good for the first half. The second half is where you will wish the story to just end! The main character is trained to use his voice (Dune) as a weapon. He was trained several times in deception (Three Stooges) because he just kept getting slapped by it to the point it became painful to read more! Then once all the training is completed and he's the super fast, super trained being and yet he's suddenly reduced to the bottom rung of the ladder of life. Why? All he went through at this time he should have easily over come! Then he suddenly figured stuff out and we have Lone Star (Space Balls)! To be honest I'm not sure if it was more painful to listen to this book or to realize this was worse than 'Why was want you to be rich' by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki! Great advice to the author is end the story when you have the chance the first time instead of adding more just to reach 300 pages in a book or however many pages there were..

But it's not long before the opportunity to rescue mistreated lab animals lures her from her parentally approved cargo run and embroils her in a battle between warring corporations. To further complicate matters, her childhood friend Thorian, prince of the now defunct Sarellian Empire, is in trouble with Alliance law and needs her help.

    Loved it!
Maybe because I'm old 'n decrepit, or maybe because life has been especially hard these last few months, but this audio book has been just what I needed. Not giving away any specific plot lines here, but, the main characters roll head long into one fiasco after another, all with the best of intentions, leaving chaos in their wake. Somehow they manage to do some good along the way. Ah, youth. The story by Lindsay Buroker is great, the performance by Emily Woo Zeller is excellent, and I recommend "The Rogue Prince" very highly!
    A great younger voice!
In thoroughly enjoyed this new offering from Lindsay. She did a great job with the voices of younger characters while still giving me an excellent Lindsay book!
It took me a bit to grow accustomed to Ms. Zellers narration style - shes sometimes a bit too dramatic with her breath and tone that it was a bit off-putting. But her portrayal of Jalena, Eric and Thor were excellent.
GOOD START. WELL PERFORMED AND WRITTEN.
Enjoyable. The young protagonist have much to learn and though with good intentions get herself and her fellow mates into trouble along the way. Fast action and sometimes quite hilarious. Prince Thorian and Eric, both her friends end up helping her with her outrageous plans and ideas. Emily Woo Zeller performed/narrated excellently and her male voices were creditable. I like the plot and I am looking forward to future books.
Love this coming of age story in space!
Great characters, especially Jelena, who is starting out in life and making mistakes and learning. The story made me laugh and also want to co.me back over and over to find out what happened next!
Great story but for a younger audience than my age
This is a young readers story. It's easy to listen to as the narrator does a excellent job with it.

    Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Sci-Fi: Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
This box set contains the first three novels from New York Times best-selling author, J.A. Cipriano and J.B Garner's Clans of Shadow Series: Heart of Gold, Feet of Clay, Fists of Iron.
    Audiobook 1: Heart of Gold.
My name is Frank Butcher, and when I got out of my truck to deliver the last package of the day, I never expected to get blown up by anti-magic zealots.
Yeah, you heard me right. I said magic. I didn't know it was a thing either.
Now, an ancient artifact is the only thing keeping me alive, and to make matters worse, that artifact is what those cultists wanted.
Still, I could have made a run for it, disappeared down into South America and spent the rest of my life on a beach. I nearly did it, but I didn't.
Why? Because the cultists have offered me a trade. Come to them, or they start killing kids.
    Audioook 2: Feet of Clay.
My name is Frank Butcher, and evidently when you save the world, it comes back for seconds.
After I stopped a world ending apocalypse, my allies tried to cut open my chest with an axe. Kind of messed up if you ask me.
Thankfully, I've got a chance to return the favor. And I'm going to take it. Not because they're trying to magically reshape the natural laws that govern our planet. No, I'm doing this because trying to cut out my heart is not okay.
    Audiobook 3: Fists of Iron.
Remember what I said about saving the world? Yeah, apparently the third time is the charm.
Turns out our little plan to stop the apocalypse, left the gate open for some bastards straight out of HP Lovecraft. Now they've come on through to try to turn the planet into an all-you-can-eat buffet.
That's not exactly my jam, so if I want to go on living here, I'll need to find a way to stop them.
My name is Frank Butcher, and one way or another, I'm putting an end to this once and for all.

    Fantastic
Loved them. I love Urban Fantasies. This series i discovered when i listen to book 3 when got it from audio boom. I new i had to go back and ready 1 and 2. I am glad i did. I hoped to continue reading / listening to this series. The Characters are great and Joe Hempel does an excellent job. He is fantastic. I received these books free in exchange for an honest review. These books are work a credit or payment.
Review of Clans of Shadow Omnibus
Wow! This is one of those treasures , action, adventure, romance, magic, a lot of the unknown, packaged into a nonstop, can't put it down, type of book.
I review books as a pleasurable reprieve from a tremendously busy life. I like it when I find a gym like this, you will too.
Thank you JB Garner, JA Cipriano, and Joe Hempel for providing this work in exchange for an unbiased review.
    Family First
I love Frank Butcher. I can relate to him. He is all about family and loyalty. The author took me on a modern day Godism.
    Wonderful Story
I got this ARC via audiobook boom. This is a voluntary review. This set is the complete story. Each book stands alone but when you read all three you get the full picture. There is a lot of cussing in the book and this bugs me but the story is very well done. The story centers around a group of friends who are magic wielders. They are tasked with doing stuff to save the world. They have lots of adventures and meet many strange people in their quest.

2nd Half of a Story Well Told!
Wow. I wrote a stellar review of the first book before listening to the second book in just two days. I said the first book was a story well told before moving on to book two. Nuttall finished this book just as well as the first completing a great story. He foreshadowed some ideas that never came into play keeping the reader thinking. At times you could feel for both sides of the battle.
I never write (anymore) reviews that contain spoilers. This story unfolded easily and wonderfully. Both the heroes and antagonists at times could be liked. A few characters could be hated and as a story of revolution, many seemingly changed.
I read one review that said the story was jumbled and told from too many points of view. I completely disagree. The various views provided insight into both sides of the struggle. I believe this will be the last book in the series, although it could go on, I doubt it will or should.
Nuttall did a terrific job between the two books in the series to unfold any background or history the reader needed to know while telling the story. It was a masterful piece of writing in my opinion. I primarily read Science Fiction, with occasional forays into other genres. I said this in my review of the first book, which is really the first half of the story, if a person only occasionally listens to Sci-Fi novels, this would be an excellent choice.
Everything was nearly believable in the way of technology. The one thing that all space-based Science Fiction has to have is a way to travel faster than light. Warp drive for Star Trek and various other ideas in other constructed universes. Since a the massively award-winning book "A Wrinkle in Time" (now celebrating its 50th anniversary and being made into a new movie) Science Fiction has had to depend on some way to get around Einstein's Speed of Light "speed limit" to have any way of going to other solar systems. Beyond that, much of the technology seemed quite believable.
The characters in this story even struggled, unlike many such novels, because they did not have faster-than-light communications. News about what happened on the rim of known space in this created universe would take 9 months to a year to reach Earth. Adds nicely to the plot as the story unfolds.
I highly recommend the story, which means buying two books. If you like military Sci-Fi with a good story well told, this is a book set not to miss.
    Not Mr. Nuttall's finest work.
Compared to the first book volume 2 seemed rushed. It jumped too quickly and tried to tell the story from the view of too many people.

    Great Program
It was so good to have the cast of Torchwood back together again. The stories were very good, I thought and very well performed. The last story was a total surprise! Highly recommend.
Outside the government, beyond the police.
Doctor Who spin-off, and anagram, Torchwood.
An easy listen, nothing taxing; seven episodes of Torchwood saving the world. Plus 15 minute documentary/ behind the scenes.
Previously four stories were available individually - I've included their current score/ratings:
    - Lost Souls 4.1 (61 ratings)
    - Asylum 4.2 (31 ratings)
    - Golden Age 4.2 (37 ratings)
    - The Dead Line 4.4 (40 ratings)
And the following three stories were collected under the title The Lost Files 4.4 (81 ratings)
    - The Devil and Miss Carew
    - Submission
    - The House of the Dead
A bit too light hearted for my tastes, though I did really enjoy The House of the Dead. That was an excellent story.

An original mech novel with epic space battles
Behind the Lines is a new take on the mech genre. I have an affinity towards mech novels and Ive read quite a bit of Battletech. This book brought a lot of new stuff to the table for me, especially all of the alien races. I really appreciated how the book also had good amounts of infantry combat and huge epic space battles. This was a truly original and engaging story from start to finish, and I can whole heartedly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys mech novels. The narrator does an amazing job with this story, voicing a wide variety of characters and different aliens. I would have enjoyed reading this book as well, but his voice acting really brought the characters to life for me and kept me interested from start to finish. I look forward to listening to next book in the series.
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review.
    Great writing as always
Would you consider the audio edition of Behind the Lines to be better than the print version?
Never read the print, but the narrator adds a lot to my enjoyment
What did you like best about this story?
The new girl...never know her name...lol
Which character as performed by Ryan Kennard Burke was your favorite?
    Annie
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yeah and I just about did
    Any additional comments?
I wish the book was a little longer. But as always Chris wants us to do a little reading ourselves. Reading the prequel now.
    Solid Military Sci Fi
Review copy. If you like shows like BSG, or books like Old Man's War or Starship Troopers you will like this. The combat is strong, and unique enough to separate it from the crowd. The characters and dialogue are a little generic but this might improve as the series unfolds. 7/10
Mechs! what is not to love
What did you love best about Behind the Lines?
    The Mechs of course
What does Ryan Kennard Burke bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The narration brought the book alive while listening ( I have a long commute)
    Any additional comments?
Fun book to listen and get into, I will be checking out more in the series
Chris Fox Just Gets Better And Better!

    Serviceable Trilogy
I really started this series waiting for Artemis to drop. Got hooked by a couple of plot twists I didnt see coming, and just enough character development to keep me reading. Typical modern sci-fi, mean aliens come...blah, blah, blah. The Narrator, Jeff Hays delivers an amazing performance. He doesnt just read the book, he performs it. His reading of female characters is so good, I wondered if they had a female narrator come it. The series was okay, he made it worth the time.
    Exciting twists and turns!
It had twists and turns in the storyline and plot that made me wants to come back for more and keep on listening.

Yet another Martian remake ( and a good one! )
What did you love best about Freefall?
Characters, plot, performance...the whole package. This is a fascinating beginning to what promises to be a strong series. I was disappointed when it ended, and am looking forward to the next chapter in this epic journey.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Freefall?
The last 3rd is highly compelling, with action, science and character development.
What about John Lees performance did you like?
He is such a pro. It is fun to hear him work on southern US accents!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Some parts made me laugh and I did do some research!
    Any additional comments?
What a book. Technical, yet character driven with a strong plot. This one kept growing on me, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys technical yet action filled sci fi.
    Surprisingly good story
Where does Freefall rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I was not expecting much from this story, but it was very good overall and I am looking forward to the second book in the series.
What didnt you like about John Lees performance?
The reader tried his best with the difficult task of voicing a very large cast of characters. For the most part he succeeds, but there were a few painful moments; only a few and they passed quickly due to the writing.

The challenge with fiction is whether it can sustain belief and there were times when I had to decide to yield to the story. I am glad that I did.
I really wanted to enjoy this
Listening was not enjoyable. The narration ruined it for me. First of the Texas accent was horrendous. Over all he was between Mr. Howell (Gilligan's Island) and Capt Kirk.

Caleb Mitchell gave up everything to protect his home. Shunned by friends and family for abandoning the pacifist beliefs of their religion, abandoned by the love of his life, he left his home world of Canaan to go to the Commonwealth Military Academy on Earth and train to fight in the looming war against the implacable alien threat of the Tahni Imperium. When a training mission with a crew of cadets winds up caught in the middle of one of the worst battles of the war, Cal and his fellow students are officially declared dead.
That's when their war really begins. Recruited for a top-secret special operations unit, Cal and his friends undergo experimental and dangerous physical augmentation that turns them into supersoldiers, designed to take the fight behind enemy lines and put the fear of God into an alien society who thinks their Emperor is God personified.
Now Caleb is asked to sacrifice his very humanity to protect his people. But when Canaan itself is threatened by the Tahni, will he throw away his career and risk everything to save the people who turned their backs on him?

Miltary Sci Fi with Full Story in One Book
This book has a deceptively corny and cliched beginning that almost made me want to stop listening. I am glad that I held on because in the end it turned out to be well written and well narrated fast moving military sci fi. In what seems to be a moderately rare event these days, the book is completely self contained and provides satisfying closure at the end. The story contains a couple of logic glitches but they are easy to ignore and in all but a couple of spots the story and the world it is built in hang together very well. Of course I can not say enough good things about the way Kyle McCarley brings anything he reads to life. The voices are well done and convey emotional content in way way that makes you feel each characters presence as if you were there.
    Reminiscent of Heinlein's Starship Troopers.
If you are a Heinlein fan, then read this book. I highly doubt that you will be disappointed.
    Outstanding storyline and narration!
One of the best combinations of military science fiction and a moving humanitarian storyline that I have encountered in a long time I highly recommend you give it a listen hope to see more from this author !
Reminded me of R. Heinlein stories. More
Reminded me of R. Heinlein stories. More of an adult PG Rating But a decent story
    Great Narration.
    This is erotica, not sci-fi.
12 chapters in and there has been 12 descriptions of sex. The author goes overly much in detail about sex scenes. I don't need to know about how her hand moves back and forth down there to get it up. The plot has no direction as far as I can tell but maybe I am just caught up on one thing.
