In today's episode, I talk about what distinguishes Vedic Astrology from Western Astrology. You likely know your 'sun sign,' but where does that come from? Did you know it's NOT actually based on where the sun was when you were born, but where the sun was 2000 years ago? That was = when Babylonian astrologers created this system - but didn't know about the precession of the equinoxes - Vedic Astrologers DID know, and their calculations are still very close to those of modern astronomy - despite being a 3000+ year old system.
You may be happy to learn that many aspects of Vedic Astrology stay the same. This lesson covers the sort of 'Vedic Astrology 101' topics like signs, planets, houses and some of the things unique to Vedic Astrology like the Dasha system and the Nakshatras - which are not just 12 divisions of the sky, but 108! Allowing for far more precise readings. I'll also say a bit about why Vedic Astrology is known as "Jyotish" or "the science of light" and how that can help us understand ourselves and each other.
