Hudson's Bay is on the verge of collapse. Canada's oldest company, founded way back in 1670, will begin a store-by-store liquidation as early as next week. The news comes after it failed to secure the financing needed to restructure. While concerns over climate change prompted the Trudeau government to introduce its signature carbon tax in 2019, newly minted Prime Minister Mark Carney has scrapped the unpopular consumer carbon tax rate to zero. Mark Carney also joined a virtual meeting with other world leaders to discuss a path to peace for Ukraine. Dubbed the ‘Coalition of the Willing,’ the meeting was hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and did not include U.S. President Donald Trump. Leaders discussed plans to increase military and financial support and a possible peacekeeping mission between Ukraine and Russia. Plus, the Trump administration's immigration crackdown could soon take on a new dimension.
