What up guys this week I’m joined by my former athlete, rising PennState senior and member of the PSU crossfit club executive board Haley Flambaum.

We sat down to talk about her journey into the fitness world and her plans for the future. After playing a multitude of sports growing up and having nothing real stick Haley went to college initially as a communication major and lived the average freshman life.

One day however she found herself waking up in a hospital bed after suffering a seizure. With such a major shockwave in her life Haley found solace and normalcy in the gym. From there she say at to take her health back into her own hands and empower others to do the same while having a great time doing it.

Discovering crossfit and physical therapy a whole new world of movement and performance was opened up to her. We dive into her career in the fitness world and how she used education to get create when planning her future and career. School and titles should expand your career possibilities instead of limiting you to what the “norm” is.

What up dogs I’m joined for a special episode by Roderick Holloway, team caption of Team Timberwolf Crossfit. Timberwolf came up just short of punching their ticket through a semi final placing 7th at the Granite Games, but after three times got sanctions last week HQ pulled a surprise move and back filled the spots. Timberwolf would now be games bound with just about three weeks to prepare.

I chopped it up with Roderick about his early life of gymnastics and that prepping him for a life of always chasing competition. Also his mindset when he first got the call they were games bound and his plans for the competition floor.

This week I’m joined by Co owner of Crossfit Westchester Steve Wakefoose! I was lucky enough to spend most of the morning with Steve as he taught three different classes two open classes filled with all ages and one masters class featuring 60+ athletes.

Steve and I get into his full story from growing up in Chester county a young kid with ADHD , before that was a thing and his early experiences with what it meant to be healthy. Growing up a generally undersized preteen he was diagnosed with a thyroid condition affecting his metabolism and ability to both focus in class and out on size in the weight room. 

Taking care of that through medicine and changing his diet Steve forayed into the world of being a corrections officer and a practicing tae kwon do. Falling in love with the discipline and organized fitness he set his attention on opening a gym …

This week I’m joined by Jason Lacayo police officer, tactical training athlete, podcast host and all around good dude. We get into everything from growing up in Yonkers to immigrant parents and how it led him to a life of police work and giving back to the community. Growing up never being black enough for the black kids or Spanish enough for the Spanish kid Jay was preparing himself ,before he knew it, to get a third color tag line “blue”.  He breaks down to me how he crosses color barriers to provide everything he can for his community while always staying in performing form.
