Today we’re talking about a legitimate layers of live action from Disney, everything from how great Beauty and the Beast is doing at the box office, to the casting call for Aladdin, to casting news for Tim Burton’s Dumbo, to the controversy surrounding Mulan not being a musical. Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout is nearing completion in Hollywoodland in Disney California Adventure, and it looks amazing. Rumors have been circulating around Apple’s potential interest in purchasing the Walt Disney Company. New Spider-Man Homecoming and Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales trailers have dropped recently and they’ve got us on pins and needles. Annual Passholders may get a preview of Pandora down in Walt Disney World, and the park is also getting The Music of Pixar Live A Symphony of Characters which will showcase not only the music of our favorite films, but the characters as well.

Episode 182: Force Friday – Bob Iger Talks the Future of Star Wars, Gareth Edwards on Original Rogue One Details, and Woody Harrelson Says Young Han Solo Is The Best Star Wars Yet! (March 24, 2017)

Lego has announced a new T-47 Snowspeeder that can be yours this coming May the Fourth. Bob Iger talks about the future of Star Wars past Episode 9 as well as some details on the upcoming Young Han Solo film. Woody Harrelson says that he’s so impressed with the Han Solo spinoff that it may be the best Star Wars film yet. Carrie Fisher will remain unchanged in Episode, retaining the legacy we had all hoped for. Episode 8 may also see a darker, more lost version of Luke Skywalker as his search for the Jedi Temple may also be a search for his own redemption. Gareth Edwards talked about the original planned beginning of Rogue One and how a particular character had a much larger part to play, as well as whether or not he would return to Star Wars for another film and in which era he’d like to play around in.

We have returned from our first Disneyland trip of the year and it was action packed with magical goodness! We started today’s episode with a spoiler free review of the new live action Beauty and the Beast film since we saw it in the Downtown Disney AMC theatre. This past weekend was also the 50th Anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean as well as the Southern California Food and Wine Fest in California Adventure. We gave a breakdown of the food, specialty drinks, and collectibles that you can currently find in the parks, as well as our thoughts on new rides under construction, crowd control, and the can’t miss shows. Star Wars Land construction comes to life in new video released from Disney, showcasing where they’re AT-AT. BB-8 meet and greet in Hollywood Studios Launch Bay starts next month and will also make an appearance at Hong Kong Disney. (April 14, 2017) as part of Star Wars Galactic Nights. Disneyland Paris will start Star Wars Nights in May with Hyperspace Mountain access for the first time! Includes elements of Seasons of the Force and a special exclusive performance of Star Wars: A Galactic Celebration. May 5th and 6th. Frank Oz starts his own rumor by saying he’s contracted to not say anything about Episode 8. Disney Fantasy cruise to add new Marvel and Star Wars experiences, from Star Wars Command Post to take kids on journeys where they can train with heroes of the Saga to fight against the First Order, holotable that projects the Falcon, Death Star, and other famous ships, meet and greets and channel the Force.

Episode 179: Walt Wednesday – Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum For the Pirate’s 50th Anniversary, Disney Takes Back Disneyland Paris, 8 Million Shanghai Disney Visitors Can’t Be Wrong! (March 15, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Walt Wednesday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

Pirate’s 50th Anniversary will happen this weekend taking over all of French Quarter with pirate themed food and events to really do things the pirate way! Disneyland Paris is in need of a serious overhaul as the park has fallen into disrepair. Bob Iger spoke at the Shareholders Meeting in Denver, Colorado about moving forward with taking complete ownership of the park so they can move forward with renovations to update the park. Shanghai Disney welcomes 8 million guests to their park in less than one year of being open, hoping to see 10 million guests before their hit their anniversary. With the park being such a big hit, Disney has already announced plans on adding more lands to make the park an even better destination. Lou, the new Pixar Short that’s expected to be seen before Cars 3 this summer, has an amazing style of realistic artwork, and contains a great message about bullying and teaches JJ how to be a better person. Cars 3 has more casting announcements adding Nathan Fillion, Kerry Washington, and Lea Delaria as new vehicles in the upcoming summer flick. Coco gave us a new poster teasing some of the back story and characters that we’re going to get as they dive deep into the Mexican culture. Beauty and the Beast comes out this week, and we are so excited to finally see some of our favorite characters brought to life on the big screen. Pandora Park the World of Avatar had some exclusive coverage on ABC Nightly News as they showed all of the amazing aspects that Disney brings to the home of the Nav’i. Frozen 2 clip at the shareholders meeting, even though we aren’t expected to get anything until sometime in 2019. College Humor Disney Clip shows us just how crazy we can get when it comes to our love of all things House of Mouse.

Episode 178: Marvel Monday – Iron Fist Fights Critics, New Pictures From Thor Ragnarok, and New Fox Mutant Show! (March 13, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Marvel Monday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

Pinewood Studios down in Atlanta has been a hotbed of Marvel activity these past few years, and co-owner Dan Cathy might have just let a billion dollar bomb drop stating that a “certain studio” has a $1 billion budget. Entertainment Weekly let loose the newest images from the upcoming galactic crusade, Thor: Ragnarok, and it did not disappoint. From outrageous outfits, to potent plotlines, it seems that this Thor sequel might feel more like a Thor reboot. There was also footage shown at the Disney Shareholders meeting, which might have tipped us off on the fate of Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. Agents of SHIELD may have struggled its first couple of seasons, but now that’s it’s really come into its own, it may have paved the way for other Marvel properties to make their own way. We already have had Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Legion with The Defenders, The Runaways, Inhumans, Cloak & Dagger, and now Fox’s upcoming mutant themed show “Gifted”, which sat down for a table read and could possibly be shooting it’s pilot episode right now in Dallas. Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Jamie Chung (Big Hero 6, Once Upon A Time), Amy Acker (Angel, Alias), Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs, Gotham), Coby Bell (The Game, Burn Notice). Also featured in the show are Blair Redford (Switched at Birth, Satisfaction), Emma Dumont (Bunheads, Aquarius), Percy Hynes White (Edge of Winter), Sean Teale (Skins, Incorporated). The old saying “save the best for last” may not apply for the upcoming Iron Fist, as critics who have seen the first half of the season were more than happy to be vocal about their displeasure with the series. However, there is a silver lining as Jessica Henwick’s portrayal of Colleen Wing has garnered tons of praise and sets her up to be another fantastic addition to the Marvel Netflix world.

Episode 177: Force Friday – Disney Shareholders Get First Look At The Last Jedi, Phasma Gets To The Point, and Unlike Us Celebration Decides To Take A Year Off! (March 10, 2017)

Celebration has been an annual occurrence as it bounces back and forth between domestic and international conventions, but it looks like they may be making some changes. Netflix previously had listed The Clone Wars as being removed from their schedule earlier this week, but perhaps the uptick in views helped change their minds. It seems Captain Phasma is coming back with a vengeance in Episode 8, and she brought some new toys to help her get revenge. Disney shareholders were lucky enough to get a preview of the upcoming trailer for The Last Jedi, and LA Times reporter Daniel Miller filled in twitter on the tasty details.

Episode 174: Force Friday – Celebration Orlando May Bring Star Wars 40th Anniversary Specials, An Unaltered Re-release of the Original Trilogy, and A First Look At Episode 8! (March 3, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Force Friday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

With the 40th Anniversary of A New Hope we may get an unaltered version re-released for all the purist Star Wars fans out there. Along with that potential release, we definitively have Rogue One coming to Digital HD on March 24th, and the Blu-Ray/DVD release for April 4th, barely a month away with a slew of special features and behind the scenes looks at the latest addition to the Star Wars legacy. Han Solo’s solo film began filming on February 20th at Pinewood Studios and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller joined the main cast for a quick photo from our favorite hunk of junk (she’s got it where it counts). However, it still looks like we’ll have to wait until D23 until we get the official title of this one, so for now we’ll keep calling it whatever we want…nerf herder. Star Wars Orlando is fast approaching, April 13-16th, and we can expect to see special 40th Anniversary panels to commemorate this iconic milestone. Lucasfilm recently filed a trademark for Star Wars: Rivals, so of course we have to lay out our thoughts on what this new property could be. To finish things up, we broke down a recent “episode 8 trailer leak” synopsis that has been traveling the interwebs and laid out of thoughts on whether this rumor was holdfast or hunk of junk.
