Episode 173: Walt Wednesday – Unexpected Oscar Wins, Easter Eggs Before Easter, and New Cars 3 Clips! (March 1, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Walt Wednesday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

We’re expecting a new Coco trailer to feature in March, potentially before Beauty and the Beast. Once you’re in the theatre, you can also enjoy multiple Easter Eggs, especially one during the iconic ballroom scene. The Oscars just happened this past Sunday, and there were some unexpected wins as well as some crazy mixups to finish the night. But at least we had an awesome performance from our favorite movie of 2016! WDW has recently given us some actual adverts for Pandora as they near their launch date. This past weekend also saw the Daytona 500 feature some Cars 3 clips and footage since it’ll be racing into theatres this June, and we’ll see even more teamup between Nascar and Pixar to help promote the film. Red Rose tavern is officially open, and we had some inside shots of what it looks like. EPCOT’s international Festival of the Arts will be returning in 2018, which should hopefully bring some more people back into the less active part of the parks. Disney officially renewed their partnership with IMAX through 2019, which makes us wonder what else they might in the pipeline after Inhumans this fall.

Episode 171: Walt Wednesday – Always Something From Beauty and the Beast, Live Action Lion King Adds Cast To It’s Herd, and Our February Giveaway! (February 22, 2017)

Beauty and the Beast inspired “Red Rose Tavern” will open at Disneyland at the Village Haus Restaurant February 24th. New Belle Clip showcasing the opening musical number for the upcoming live action film. Disney Research Lab are set to develop a new wireless charging technology that may catapult us into an actual Tomorrowland. Lion King is also getting the live action treatment and you could say that they’re getting the lion’s share of a brilliant cast. Zootopia Oscar nomination spoofs has us giggling like a hyena from Tundra Town. Disney Explorers Lodge is set to open April 30th, at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Our favorite salty dogs are due for a refurbishment as the ride nears it’s 50th anniversary. From a Nazi battling witch to a ballroom serenading tea pot, Angela Lansbury has now been cast as the balloon lady in Mary Poppins Returns. Disney World Files Permit for Gondola System set to link multiple resorts and lands into one high flying experience.

Episode 170: Marvel Monday – Deadpool Needs Friends, No Nick In Wakanda, and Thor Putting The Hammer Down For An Axe! (February 20, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Marvel Monday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

Deadpool was a smash success only one short year ago, and as they ramp up production on the green lit sequel, we have casting rumors for both Cable and Domino to join our Merc with a Mouth. As Black Panther continues production, We Got This Covered sat down with Samuel L Jackson to discuss Kong: Skull Island, and inevitably the conversation turned to the MCU with Jackson stating that although he won’t be appearing in BP, he will show up in Captain Marvel. Speaking of Black Panther, Lupita Nyong’o posted an interesting picture on her Instagram, showing herself with a purple substance, possibly for making a cast for her character Nakia. The character’s back story lends some credibility to where we might see her character end up. While Marvel Studios is busy bringing the Inhumans show to life, there have been rumors throughout the island that they may have started working on finally bringing Namor to the big screen. Iron Man is also apparently taking on a new role in the team, as RDJ described Tony as more “marture” in this film, as he anticipates the incoming threat and tries to prepare accordingly. Which means we’re probably still not getting an Iron Man 4, despite constant rumors. Is Thor finally putting the hammer down, and picking up an axe? When Marvel released the Infinity War teaser last week, we noticed that the concept art of Thor fighting alongside Rocket showed Odinson wielding a new version of Mjolnir, which we’re thinking might be either his battle ax Jarnbjorn, which he used before acquiring Mjolnir, or the Ultimate Mjolnir axe/hammer hybrid that he used in the Ultimate Marvel comics. We were also graced with Thor’s…brains.

Episode 169: Force Friday – Young Han Solo Expands Cast, Tom Hardy Gets Handy, and What Is Kylo & Rey’s Relationship Status! (February 17, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Walt Wednesday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

Thandie Newton joins Han Solo film, while still being a part of the incredibly successful HBO series Westworld. Force Friday 2 will happen on September 1st this year, with some massive numbers to exceed from last year. Rey is sporting a new hair-do as seen on the toy packaging we can expect to see in stores this September, as well as some battle damage and still sporting the Skywalker family heirloom! Poe looks the same, but it looks like Finn might have pulled a Lando and borrowed some of Han’s old clothes. Rian Johnson has revealed the new look for the first order Stormtroopers and one of them looks like Tom Hardy. Finn will supposedly infiltrate a First Order Super Star Destroyer, described as a triangle shaped wedge, solid and dark” dressed as an officer and will bump into an old friend. Jimmy Vee, a Scottish actor and stunt performer, has been confirmed to be portraying the icon R2D2 for The Last Jedi. StarWars.com updated both Rey and Kylo’s relationship status and it has the interwebs a buzzing!

Episode 168: Walt Wednesday – Help Aiden See The World Disney Style, Dick Van Dyke Returns, and Disney Is At It Again! (February 15, 2017)

Elena of Avalor has been renewed for a third season as it’s the number one series for girls between ages 2-11. Disney rolls out MagicBand 2 stills serves as an entry ticket, Fastpass+, payment system and hotel room key, but now offers a curvier design and a detachable disc that can be put into an accessory called the MagicKeeper which can be put into a lanyard or carabiner. The Official Disney on Broadway Podcast launched its first episode on February 13th, which showcases the behind the scenes stories of 2012’s Newsies and its filming for theatrical release through interviews with the cast and crew. The film will be premiered through Fathom Events on Feb 16, 18, and 22nd. Aiden Mullins would like to see the world, so let’s help him get to Disney World as quickly as possible by heading to his GoFundMe page gofundme.com/help-aiden-see-the-world. Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout is becoming more and more visible as they move closer to its launch date. Moana is due out on digital HD Feb 21, and we’ll get our first look at some of the behind the scenes action from a bald Maui to Moana’s six brothers to various villains like an 8 eyed bat that ended up on the cutting room floor. The blu-ray is due out March 7th. Auli’I Cravalho and Lin-Manuel Miranda will perform How Far I’ll Go at the Oscars. Walt Disney World is set to finally premier the nighttime spectacular Rivers of Light on Feb 17. Beauty and the Beast has revealed a live action prop showcase at the Hollywood Studios theatre replacing “One Man’s Dream”, with an extended preview of the “Belle” musical number. Dick Van Dyke’s role has been revealed in the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns, as the 91 year old actor returns to the franchise as Mr. Dawes Jr, the son of the character he donned elderly makeup to play in the first film. He has also confirmed he will perform a song and dance in the new film. Colin Firth, Meryl Streep and Angela Lansbury will all play supporting cast members. Disney has raised ticket prices but has maintained the option for monthly payments, as they saw a 5% decrease in attendance without suffering financial loss.

Episode 167: Marvel Monday – Has Marvel’s Social Justice Themed Comics Come To An End, Feige Faces Villain Issues, And A First Look At Infinity War! (February 13, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Marvel Monday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

Marvel’s Secret Empire synopsis has officially been released, and it’s described as The Worst Day In The Marvel Universe as Steve Rogers ***SPOILER ALERT*** a double agent of Hydra, sworn in as the new director of SHIELD. Some critics of Marvel comics recently has been that they’ve delved too much into the political realm, and it’s starting to alienate some readers. Is it time for Marvel to move away from Social Justice storylines? Kevin Feige recently spoke about the MCU’s villain problems, and had a very interesting answer, especially when it comes to what we can expect in the rest of Phase 3. Feige also revealed that upcoming films will feature our favorite characters spending as much time in space as they do on Earth, feeling more reminiscent of the comics we’ve come to love. Disney/Marvel have set up camp in the West Oahu neighborhood of Hawaii as they start production on Inhumans. Ant-Man and the Wasp is probably one of our favorite upcoming films, and it seems that they’ve brought back a very important character to continue the story of one of the most comedic characters in the MCU. Lawrence Fishburne, who recently returned to portray the role of Perry White in BvS and although he enjoyed the film, he said that Marvel has been “kicking DC’s ass”. Marvel has released the “final” trailer for Iron Fist, and it has us completely hyped for the “last Defender” to finally arrive on Netflix. Robert Downey Jr excels at dropping big news, and he did not disappoint in the recent behind the scenes look we got at Avengers: Infinity War. The confirmed fact that the Guardians are coming in as well as Spider-man, has us all sitting on pins and needles.

Episode 166: Force Friday – Star Wars Gets Another Spoof Treatment, Bob Iger Talks His First Viewing of Episode 8, and Is Rey Actually a Bridger! (February 10, 2017)

With Star Wars Land officially announced for a 2019 launch date, it’s sparked local hotels into a frenzy to try to capitalize, as even Disney is building a new resort hotel overlooking the new addition. Star Wars is bringing a new genre to their comics as The Screaming Citadel will feature a horror theme as it crosses over with Doctor Aphra. Our galaxy far, far away is getting the spoof treatment from the team that brought you the Scary Movie franchise, as well as Epic Movie, and Vampires Suck. Bob Iger has seen a first cut of Episode 8, and we’re all dying to hear what he has to say about it. Josh Gad continues to hound Daisy Ridley for hints on The Last Jedi, but this time he has recreuited some clout to get him the answer he needs. ‘Fleabag’ star Phoebe Waller-Bridge will join the cast of the Young Han Solo film as a CGI character in a role similar to Chewbacca, C-3PO and K-2SO. Finally, it seems our discussion has sparked some more interest in Ezra Bridger as a new fan theory emerged stating that Rey may not be a Skywalker after all.

Episode 165: Walt Wednesday – A New Pirates Trailer, A Land of the Star Wars, and Don’t Leave Us Bobby I! (February 8, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Walt Wednesday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

Disney did their first quarter earnings review conference phone call thingy ma jig, and it looks like nothing but good news from the House of Mouse. Star Wars Land has an actual release year, and it’s pretty much when we expected it to be, now it’s just narrowing down the actual date! Pandora also has a specific opening date which is exactly when we thought it would be opening, so no real surprises there. Bob Iger has opened up as to whether or not he would continue his tenure as king of Disney, and of course we’d love to see him rule supreme for years to come. Pirates of the Caribbean and Guardians both had their Super Bowl TV spots and since we already gave you a sweet review of the GotG trailer on the end of the last episode, we’ll give a nice run down for PotC. Beauty and the Beast is only about a month away and they have some pretty sweet opening night events going on, like early access tickets that you won’t want to miss. Zootopia is still killing it at the awards, taking home several trophies every time they go to bat, but Moana is not walking away empty handed either. Pixar announced an actual storyline for their upcoming short in front of Cars 3, and it looks like it might be the most adorable short yet.

Episode 164: Marvel Monday – A Full Episode of Upcoming Marvel TV Shows To 2017 and Beyond! (February 6, 2017)

Welcome back Cast Members, to another Marvel Monday episode here at CLOUD CITY CAST!

Marvel has been one busy bee when it comes to TV, as 2017 looks to be their busiest year yet. We’re knee deep in Agents of SHIELD: LMD right now, and to keep the momentum going, they’re going to have to continue this trend of introducing more known quantities from the comic books, especially after the success of Ghost Rider. Legion comes to the screen next week, combining a trippy, psychological Kubrick style show, bound to keep you wondering if what you’re seeing is real, or just an illusion. Iron Fist kicks his way into March, giving us our first look at the last Defender as he corners his own area of NYC, bringing sweet martial arts justice. The Defenders was recently seen shooting under the title “Group Therapy” in Staten Island, showing that they’re still in the throws are creating our first TV team up. The Punisher continues to keep us on our toes as we wait for a definitive release date for this year. As the cast continues to swell, we can look forward to the ever exciting adventures of one of our favorite anti-heroes. Casting for The Runaways was finally announced, as it will premier on Hulu, being Marvel’s first show to do so. The show follows the children of super powered individuals who use their powers to combat their own parents once they found out they’re villains. The Inhumans are still slated for September release. Cloak and Dagger make their way to FreeForm later next year, and we’ve finally heard who will be playing the titular characters, especially when rumors of one Disney star were traded for another. Burn Notice creator Matt Nix has been tied to an untitled X-Men spinoff TV show, which may finally bring some of our favorite characters to the TV screen in a series described as Mutants on the Run.
