  • Episode 50 - Shadow of Destiny
Listener Request Summer rolls on and this week the boys unravel the 2001 Konami game Shadow of Destiny. Also known as Shadow of Memories basically everywhere besides the US, this game was chosen by Josh McKnew through our Facebook page!
Shadow of Destiny/Memories is rather unique adventure game that focuses on Eike Kusch, a lanky dingus with a nasty habit of getting murdered. Lucky for him, a spooky entity known as Homunculus grants him a chance to change his fate: Time Travel! Eike uses his new gift to try to avoid his many deaths and hopefully discover the identity of his killer. Also, maybe flirt with some peasant girls in the 1500s. TIME STREAMING!

  • Episode 49 - Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk 2
Listener Request Summer continues as the boys take a look at Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk 2! A "comedy" JRP"G", Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk 2 explores a world where Japanese Video Game corporations are underage anime girls fighting to save the world from the destructive evil of free software.
Ever wonder why anime has a bad reputation? Well, Neptunia 2 is every gross, eye-rollingly pandering anime cliche contained in one convenient package! It's got everything! Sexualized children, sexual assault as comedy, haphazard gay-baiting, tsunderes and worship of Japanese corporate culture; there's even an idol concert!
Plus, a special guest appearance by the president of Nippon Ichi Software?!

  • Episode 48 Inversion
We kick off our first annual Listener Request Summer with Saber Interactive's Inversion, a third person shooter from 2012 looking to distinguish itself with an earth-shattering gimmick.
Inversion follows Davis and Leo, two policemen in Vanguard City, as their lives are turned upside down by a sudden catastrophic invasion by an unknown and monstrous enemy. Like you'd expect from grizzled video game protagonists, it's up to Davis and Leo to turn their opponents' gravity manipulating technology against them and hopefully save...well, not the world, but like one specific person. Davis and Leo have a bit of tunnel vision.
That may sound like a pretty basic shooter premise and well, it is. Inversion put a lot of effort into cool gravity-based combat gimmicks but the writing? Well, tune in to find out.

  • Episode 47 - Dark Void
This episode the boys take a look at the not-so-wrongfully forgotten Dark Void, a 2010 third person shooter from Airtight Games.
Dark Void is the story of William Grey, a cargo pilot in 1938 who stumbles across a dangerous alien world while crossing the Bermuda Triangle. Helped out by his ex-girlfriend Ava and noted historical figure Nikola Tesla, Will dons a jetpack and ventures out to battle the sinister Watchers. If that sounds exciting, just keep in mind there's a reason no one talks about this game.

  • Episode 46 - Dark Savior
This episode, the boys delve into the depths of the Sega Saturn library to talk about 1996's Dark Savior, a Role-Playing Fable.
Dark Savior follows a bounty hunter named Garian and his trusty companion Jack. They have captured a deadly monster known simply as BILAN and are bringing the beast to Jailer's Island, an inescapable prison run by a merciless madman. Naturally, things go awry, but thanks to the games unique Parallel Select System, things go awry in three radically different ways.
Join us as we try to keep track of Garian's Bizarre Adventure and the handful of alternate timelines that go along with it.

  • Episode 44 - The Devil's Third
This week, the boys are OFF THE LEASH talking about the latest game from the man behind Ninja Gaiden: The Devil's Third on the Nintendo WiiU.
When ex-Soviet terrorists destroy all of the world's satellites and unleash a deadly chemical agent, there's only one man who can stop them: Vin Deis--I mean, Ivan, a jacked Russian man with magic tattoos and a dark past. He's armed with his cool shades, a katana, and whatever guns he can pry out of his enemies' dying hands. Luckily, that's all he needs.
And yes, there's ninjas. Of course there's ninjas.
Also, we are still taking submissions for Listener Request Summer! We've gotten a lot of good pulls so far, so keep 'em coming!

About Hyper-Bolic Game Chamber

From the publisher's feed

Hyperbolic Game Chamber is a comedy podcast about video games. More specifically, the writing in said video games. Plots in video games tend to be completely absurd, bizarre and sometimes nonsensical journeys into insanity, and that’s exactly why we love them.
