I AM HealingStrong

Carol Robles, an attorney from NYC, was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer that resulted from her exposure to dangerous toxins at Ground Zero following 9/11. Cecilia Defoe, a former educator, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of esophageal cancer at age 51. Carol and Cecilia met at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in July 2017 during their hospital stay in which they shared a same room and surgeon. Their encounter was not coincidental, but rather predestined by God. After sharing a near death experience together on the third night, they have been sisters in Christ ever since. Carol and Cecilia credit the Holy Spirit’s intervention that night for Carol’s subsequent recovery, as well as the miraculous healing that Cecelia experienced. Their powerful story is a testimony of God’s supernatural intervention, healing grace, and mercy.

Ivelisse Page lost her father to cancer at age 13. During his struggle, her father not only came to know God, but his journey brought Ivelisse’s family to faith as well. Years later, despite having a healthy lifestyle, Ivelisse was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. She recounts her journey with her difficult diagnosis, the use of mistletoe therapy, and her decision to live in faith and fight rather than succumb to fear. Ivelisse believes God spared her life so she could bring hope to those facing cancer.

Dedicated naturopathic Dr. Andrea Colon, recounts her journey and motivation in discovering her passion for naturopathic medicine at a young age. In this episode, she highlights the difference between naturopathic and conventional medicine, while emphasizing the need for an integrative treatment approach. Dr. Colon is passionate about finding the root cause of illness and thus treating the underlying cause of disease. Rev. Dr. Jason Garwood and his wife Mary discuss a natural approach to healing, inspired by Mary’s battle with Lyme disease. After learning of her diagnosis in her early twenties, Mary followed a protocol advocated by cancer thriver Chris Wark, which included juicing and coffee enemas to help her body heal. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Garwood authored the book, “Health For Life,” in which he emphasizes the importance of applying biblical principles to the stewardship of our bodies. Dr. Garwood and Mary continue to encourage others that a natural treatment approach, combined with the healing power of the gospel is what ultimately leads to complete healing.

One of the newest and fastest growing recording artists on the Christian music scene today, Katy Nichole has reached over 150 million people with her debut single “In Jesus Name,” that first went viral on TikTok. In this episode, Katy shares her childhood struggle with congenital scoliosis. Following a surgery in 2014, Katy experienced excruciating pain for three years that would lead to her severe anxiety and depression. In the midst of her darkness, Katy almost took her life, until she felt God telling her that He wasn’t finished with her yet. Shortly thereafter, Katy had a second surgery to remove the rods and screws that were inserted in her spine during her first surgery, and miraculously emerged painless and, with a straight spine. Katy reminds us that it is often in the darkest places of our lives where God does His best work.

In 2019, Cheryl Collins discovered she had a large ovarian cyst that was sitting on a nerve causing a lot of pain. What was supposed to have been a 45 minute surgery turned into a 6 hour hysterectomy. Yet through it all, she had hope in the midst of her suffering and is now able to offer hope to others through her writing of the HEAL Bible devotionals.

Clay Adkins worked in law enforcement for 28 years. In 2013, he was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. He had a partial nephrectomy of his right kidney and a total nephrectomy of his left kidney. At one point, Clay was told he didn’t have long to live. He soon changed his diet,  and surrounded himself with encouraging friends. Above all, he grew deeper in his knowledge of the power, grace and faithfulness of the living God. In so doing, he also discovered that God truly is the great physician.

Growing up in a small town in South Carolina, singer-songwriter Tasha Layton was grounded in her faith, and passionate about music and worship. However, after experiencing a painful split from her childhood church, Tasha had doubts about her faith in Christ and began exploring other religions - a journey that ultimately led her back to Jesus, the only one who can give us a peace that passes all understanding. Tasha has had several songs featured on the top Christian billboard charts, her most recent being “Look What You’ve Done.” Her difficult story serves as an encouraging reminder that when we are at our weakest, God is at His strongest.
