  • #23: We all have "Stuff"

#23: I'll be honest in saying that I didn't listen to this episode back because I didn't want to edit the message I felt compelled to talk about. One of my bigger picture missions in my work as a therapist/ coach, is to not just de-stigmatize and normalize mental health, it's more than that... it's to strive for no one suffering alone in silence over struggles and stressors so many of us face.

I hope today's episode landed with someone who needed to hear the message that WE ALL HAVE MENTAL HEALTH. We all have struggles and stressors. We all have quirks, faults, and weaknesses. We all go through experiences that rattle us and break us down. We all have intense thoughts and emotions at times. We all have urges, cravings, and compulsions. We all have done things we're not proud of. We've all had experiences we're sure no one would understand or that they'd still care about us if they knew what we went/ go through.

My hope in reminding everyone that no matter what it looks like on the outside, it is a shared, human experience that we all have our "stuff." And the sooner we acknowledge it, process it, ask for help, and connect with one another over our "stuff"..... the sooner humanity can move forward and support one another more efficiently and effectively.

Please share this episode with someone who you know could benefit from its message. And if you could use some support for your "stuff," you can find me on Instagram @meganmkjolsing or email me at [email protected]! Here are some resources in working with me:

    • #21: Unsubscribing from the "Should"

#21: "Should" is often a very pressured-filled word that leaves us feeling guilty, ashamed, and very self-critical. Much like those pesky, unnecessary emails that can flood our inboxes, lots of rules filled with "shoulds" in our head can bring more harm than good.

In this episode I talk about 3 steps to take yourself through to become aware and evaluate the number of "should" statements you live your life by and how to edit and tweak those rules for a thought pattern than is more self-compassionate, flexible, and empowered. Thank you to the ladies of "Me Time" Meet up for your thoughtful conversation, incredible feedback for one another, and for inspiring this episode by taking the time in your day to care for yourself and your needs (no matter what the "shoulds" in your head were trying to tell you!)

To connect more with me, you can find me on Instagram @meganmkjolsing or email me at [email protected]! If this is a topic you want to dive deeper into for your own life, here are some resources in working with me:

        • #17: Three Lessons from Year 36

#17: I love the synchronicity that this birthday reflection is my 17th episode because that is my birthdate! Anyway, I thought I'd take a second to share on some key takeaways from last year and how that is informing intentions I have for year 37!

I know myself well enough to know that I can get sucked into the highs and lows of everyday life and that can restrict my ability to zoom out and see the bigger picture of things. I thought it was important to do so for myself and then come here to share my lessons with you all in case it helps your own reflection practices or you relate to what I came away with!

            • #15: My Top 5 Insecurities and what I'm doing about them!

#15: I never want to paint myself in any other way other than a relatable, honest human who experiences real life highs and lows like anyone else. Just because my work has been as a Therapist and Coach, doesn't mean that I don't struggle. I hope this episode gives you permission to be honest about what makes you feel insecure and perhaps offer ideas on how you can cope with and through any insecurities you have.

Here, I referenced my work with Shauna VanBogart in Clarity Calls I received from her and I cannot recommend any access to her guidance and wisdom enough.
