Today's guest on I Am Refocused Podcast is Music Artist Christa Deánā

Bio

Christa Deánā (Duh-nay) is a Christian Singer/Songwriter from Philadelphia who sings with conviction and power. Her songs speak to the journey of a woman after God's own heart. Each song is deeply rooted in a personal, yet extremely vulnerable relationship with God. It's the beauty and emotion in her voice and the candor in her lyrics that help inspire others to go all the way, every day, with God.

Dedicating herself to music as a child, she won first place in the Young Artist Competition for the city of Allentown, PA. A gifted writer, Christa Deana performed her first original song at 11 and went on to write over 50 more. Her vocal ability also developed young, securing her lead oratorios from classics such as Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and lead songs in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. In addition to writing and singing, she has toured with several choirs that took her to Romania, Turkey, France, Spain, England, and all over the US. During this journey she found a love for conducting and excelled as a choir director for several choirs. She has worked with The Lesser Light Collective as a soloist, writer, and conductor, directing the choir for their performance at Washington Adventist University.

Christa Deánā inherited perfect pitch, excellent natural timing, a powerful vocal instrument and a creative soul. But she’s been diligent to cultivate her gifts, obtaining her music education degree from the University of Valley Forge. Not content to simply make her own music, she pulls beautiful music out of her students and collaborators. She is currently a music educator and worship leader at various facilities and churches. She is also the co-owner for ChristaCourt Productions.

Christa’s February 2018 single, “If God Doesn’t Want It” received an Indie Music Channel Award nomination, and the lyric video spent 3 weeks in the Beat 100 Top 10. Currently she is focusing on releasing a self entitled album with all new original music Fall 2018. As she continues to tour and spread the message of the power of God, she's ecstatic of what's ahead. Join the mailing list and follow her on social media to stay up to date on what's to come!

Today's guest on I Am Refocused Podcast is Music Artist Matt Westin

Bio

Matt Westin was born and raised in a blue collar family in a middle class suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. From a young age, he pursued various passions, including academics, sports, acting, and music. After years of searching, Matt found true fulfillment in the creative outlets of acting and singing, dedicating himself to his artistic pursuits, and walking away from a promising career in engineering. With the influences of many legendary artists, ranging from Johnny Cash to Garth Brooks, “all the way” to Frank Sinatra, Matt found his voice. The thrill of live performance fed his desires, as he honed his vocal ability in bars and clubs around Pittsburgh for over a decade. His obvious drive and talent quickly won over his family's initial disapproval of his walking away from an engineering career, and they became his biggest supporters. Tragically, after a bravely fought battle with Leukemia, Matt's father succumbed to complications of chemotherapy, in April 2016. As a true family man, Matt was utterly devastated and struggled day to day with the reality of his father's death. After months of depression, instead of self-destructing, Matt decided to honor his father's memory, by finally pursuing his music career, as his father had encouraged.
Deciding to make a country record in his father's honor, and being introduced by a mutual friend, to world-class musician/songwriter/producer Bryan Cole, the stage was set. Bryan took on the project as producer, believing in his talent and vision, and guiding Matt in making a first-class country record. Bryan recruited long-time friend and mix engineer, Doug Kasper to record and mix the record at nearby Tonic Recording Studios. With radio-ready songs, legendary musicians Mike Brignardello (Big & Rich, Blake Shelton, bass) and Steve Hinson (Dolly Parton, Luke Bryan, steel guitar), and an amazing up- and-coming musician, Adam Ernst, Matt dedicated an entire year to making the record he and his father would be proud of.
First single, “Our Redneck of the Woods” reached the IndieWorld Country chart and the European Country Music Association charts. Matt is nominated for a 2018 International Music and Entertainment Association award.

Today's guest on I Am Refocused Podcast Special Edition is R&B/Soul Artist Donnell Isaac

“In the face of no evidence, create!” - Donnell Isaac

Bio

Ever since his debut in 2008 as a rising star in Neo Soul Inspirational music with his inspiration album “New Moments New Choice” Donnell Isaac (born Donnell Isaac Charlton), has been creating waves in the industry.

Music isn’t the only thing that Donnell is talented in, as he has made appearances in front of the camera on TV with “Law and Order” and in the movie “My Brother”.

The refreshing and soul touching music of Donnell Isaac was gathering momentum, and he soon caught the attention of record label Executive Bernie McLean. He signed him up to a distribution deal with Indie Charts/ Kingdom Records in 2010, which is the home of Shekinah Glory.

After that the career of Donnie C, now known as Donnell Isaac has grown by leaps and bounds. He had his first major hit with “Shelter from The Storm”, which dominated the radio BDS 100’s charts for more than 16 weeks.

His follow up single was a remake of ‘I Won’t Complain’ from the late Rev Paul Jones, which landed him his first win in the 2014 Chosen Voice Awards Tampa FL, as the ‘Best New Artist’. With such phenomenal success early on in his career, it is no wonder that the career of Donnell Isaac has come such a long way in such a short time period.
How it all began

He was first exposed to music when he was singing in the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church Choir at the age of 9 in Portsmouth Virginia. His gift was nurtured in its infancy by his great aunt, Fairfield Jackson, who played a major role in developing his passion for music and singing. Donnell also sang in his family group, The Gospel Swannetts, in the early nineties, and performed numerous song with them, including, “Well Done”, and “Jesus, when Trouble Burdens Me Down”.

He was raised in a multi-talented family, which shaped his passion and inspired him to dream about having a real career in music and songwriting. The very first song he wrote was “Happiness Is Just a Step Away", after which he came out with "Never Change Your Heart’s Desire" and "It’s My Season”. These songs are all about empowerment and dreaming towards getting a better life, and he performed them at numerous talent showcases, and charitable events, which includes performing at the YWCA of Newark NJ and Edison Job Corps of Edison NJ, and the Kessler Institute of West Orange NJ.
A New Music Star Rises

The music that is created by Donnell Isaac touches the soul and that is the reason why he is so beloved by everyone that is exposed to his talent. Donnell has been performed at numerous big events, which stretch from the south, and include the International Music Festival and Shakespeare Festival in Nashville TN. He is a resident of Greensboro NC, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia, and is a singer, a songwriter, and a self- taught keyboardist.

Donnell had a rough childhood, as he was raised in a town where poverty was rampant and drugs were prevalent. However, he credits growing up in that community with teaching him how to survive, and he didn’t let any of this bring him down and channeled all his energy into creativity. He has gone through numerous challenges, adversities, hurdles in life, which taught him how to survive in that environment and maintain his love for music.
Making Music for the Soul

In an uncertain world, the refreshing and soul touching music of Donnell Isaac, which is uniquely fused with R&B Soul and Gospel music genres, grows into a powerful genre of music filled with love and happiness. It is music for the soul, which is beloved by all, and that is why the career of Donnell Isaac continues to go grow in leaps and bounds.

Now Experience Soul singer Donnell Isaac has gone on an entirely new level with his powerful new single "Loving you” Donnell Isaac brings a sound to music industry that is unique, sultry and melodic. He performs music that brings serenity to the soul and tranquility to the mind, and invites listeners to embark on a journey to an oasis for which the soul thirsts.

Today's guest on I Am Refocused Podcast is Josh Hurt!

Bio

Josh Hurt is a native of San Antonio, Texas, and one of its most sought after and recognized singers. He brings an energetic and refreshing sound to music that appeal to the young as well as the seasoned saints. He sang his first solo in church at the age of 7 and since then his love for music has grown and now it is very evident that it’ll always be a part of his life.

Undeniably called to musically bridge denominational gaps, Josh carries a burden for uniting believers to worship the Father in spirit and in truth. It is further his desire to inspire and encourage other young men to cast aside the tough guy stereotype and relentlessly pursue the presence of God in worship. Josh also mentors worship leaders of various ages, frequently being called upon to help them bridge the gap in their churches between Traditional Gospel and Christian Contemporary Music sounds. He is often requested to lead Praise and Worship workshops as well as conduct choir workshops.

In addition to working on his own long-awaited recording. Josh provides vocal coaching services, has appeared as a featured lead vocalist on projects, including most recently the live recording of Anthony McBeth and the United Praise Chorale (Houston, Texas), and has recorded as well as arranged background vocals for several other projects.

Make no mistake about it: Josh Hurt is on the move, and he is not looking back. Since the very first time he heard Kim Burrell’s voice at the COGIC AIM Convention, it was clear to Josh that he wanted to be a singer and inspire others as he was likewise inspired that evening. Josh was later blessed to receive invitations to share his gift as a background vocalist for artists such as Josh Groban and Leandria Johnson. Additional opportunities soon came for him to share the stage with numerous gospel and inspirational artists, such as Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Jessica Reedy, Micah Stampley and Youthful Praise.

After walking away from what could have been a tragic automobile accident in early 2015. Josh credits God’s hand of deliverance for giving him a new lease on life. With even greater determination than before, he is taking full advantage of each day God gives him to do the will of the Father.
